Hello everyone, this is Nadir "Balto" Yadi speaking to you. I have came up with an idea while playing around in Playstation Home one day. I asked people if they would play a Sony PS3 Balto Game, and they said yes. I need help from anyone who works at Square Enix, since later in my life, I will work there, and then I will retire to Nome, Alaska. I will be a Musical Composer AND Preformer just like Nobuo Uematsu (Even though I heard he was fired). I am only a Sophomore in High School, but I know I will get to Square enix and I will not rush it. Any way, back to the game.
I need help trying to get people to contact Square Enix, while I contact them too. The reason this game is posted in only Balto 1 Fourm is because, it will only be made from the first movie. Nintendo could've made an SNES game for Balto, but they didn't, so now that Sony's Stock is in the dump, let's revamp it! We need to contact Steet to make a petiotion, and then if he approves, we need to send it to the Senior Director at Square Enix. Do you really think Square will agree? I do. I told them that I plan to become a composer soon, so they should remember me. Thank you for your time, and please help me.

Errrrrrr...Mmm....how to say this?

I hate to break people's enthusiasm like this. But come on. This is TOTALLY UNREALISTIC.

PS3 games are very high-budget games, very costy. We're talking about games that cost millions of dollars to be produced.

It's not really a kids console either, so no company would ever want to develop a game like this on a console like that. (even though I WOULD like them to do it...At least, THAT would be something original) At best, it would be on DS, PS2 or PC, but not more.

As for Square Enix, it's japanese, so unless you talk japanese...
And Universal doesn't think Balto is profitable anymore, as it's a licence that is not widely known (unfortunately)

So...my opinion is, if you really want to see a Balto game one day, it will have to be a fan-made game, on PC, and a very simple one (because complex projects never get completed)

I think unfortunately the time of having a Balto based game on any system, especially a newer one has passed. Its a nice idea, but I don't think its widely possible for it to happen.

Now if this same idea came in, I'll say 1996, then its a whole different story. Of course, all would have had to be done without the internet since it just wasn't a big enough tool to use back then for a certain project and to helping the spread of word.

As much as we would all love to see this happen, I have me doubts. The fact that Balto is an older film, it isn't very popular and wouldn't make it in the game world.

If a game was ever made, I would be out of luck. Most games are PS3 or Xbox and all I have is a PS2

I agree with steet 100%. And if they did make a game, I doubt it would be from sony. Maybe nintendo. But I don't know. I just doubt they would make a game like that for a very high budget system such as the PS3, 360, etc. And I have a PSP, PS2, and a Xbox 360. so I don't have anything from nintendo. I used to have a gamecube and a DS. But I sold my gamecube and broke my DS.

If you ever seen the Empire City Trailer for inFamous, you will know that this is possible. I calculated the number of the age group who would buy this just today. I calculated everyone around 25 would buy this, because in the poll you posted, it says they watched Balto almost 20 years ago, when they were 10. I am 15, so I was about 2 years old when I saw this movie. If Sony does agreee to invest in this idea, their stock, which was in the NEGATIVES last week would BOOM all the way up, since alot of people know what Balto is, and how it did actuallly happen in real life, and that it isn't a stupid time waster, like some other games. Then, they could hire James Horner to work with Yoko Shimomura, and come up with a Digitally Remastered Soundtrack, and James Horner would also benefit. The economy would benefit form this as well, since no one wants to work, bringing all the money down, and the paradox would happen here if we invested in this idea. I'm not trying to argue with you, since I do like you as a friend, but still, Square Enix could take an intrest in this and turn it into something Extrordany like Kingdom Hearts 2...

Ok then, now I understand, you live in another world.

True.

for a game that will not sell

NOT necessarily. The fact is, many people (like me) are fed up of the "violent/apocalyptic/dark no-brain shooter" types of games, and want more original things OR things back from the past.
I know a LOT of people (from the opinions I can gather on forums) would be crazy over, for example, new 2D platformer games with the quality of the Disney games on Megadrive/Super nes.
And I am SURE that with the right price/right marketing behing it (not necessarily a costly one, viral marketing on the web for example), they could be very profitable. (high sales doesn't mean high benefits !!! currently, only 20% of the games made on PS3/X360 are profitable!!!)

The only reason there are no games like that being made, is because the deciders have no idea how much they would sell (it's been too long since some games like that have been released), and they don't want to take ANY risk. Which is PLAIN STUPID. Because these games would cost nothing to make when compared to the "full 3D high graphics" games. Even low sales would be profitable.

But it wouldn't work on PS3 or X360. The players of these console are too much oriented to the "dark" types of games I have described, and it doesn't seem it's going to change any day. (bad sales of Banjo & Kazooie Nuts & bolts, for example)
Wii could have been a good choice, although now it has a very bad image of "awful casual cheap family party licensed games made with 2 cents of budget" which is probably going to stick to that console for a long time. (yes, because low budget often means they don't make any efforts either...unfortunately) Although some games have received some efforts by being both low budget AND good quality (Broken Sword, for example, though it's a remake)

PSP or PS2 could be a good choice too, it could do marvelous 2D games. DS or PC too. I would choose either of these ones.

Anyway, what I mean is : many people want good quality 2D games, and I just DONT understand why Disney (and all the other movie companies) don't see that their games went downhill exactly at the time they made them in 3D??? Why is it so difficult to assimilate that?

I REALLY hope that the game they're planning to make for Princess & the Frog will be a 2D game! I mean, they're getting back to traditional animation for that film, so it would be a stupid decision to make a 3D game for it! But knowing them...I have low hope for that :?

I see where you come from now. I'm sorry I wasted your time by posting this, but I guess when I do become a composer i'll still hang this idea over the Senior Director of Square Enix. He might agree to make it for the PSP or DSi, so I see it will not work in 3D. I know because I had personal experience on this. They made a game for Monster House in 3D and it did look low budget. But, what if Sony made a Balto Costume in Playstation Home?

Yes, that's what I said basically. But I think the royalties on PSP / PS2 / Wii / DS games are probably much cheaper and would be affordable, because there are many games being made for not-very-well-known licenses on these consoles.

There are other ways than using Steam, BTW..."Anyone" can sell a PC game on the web without giving any royalties, contrary to the consoles. Steam has nothing to do with that. Besides I don't think that service has ever been used for kids games...

There's also the IPhone. Apparently a LOT of games are being made for it, because it's very cheap to make games on that. (for example, a "Banjo, The Woodpile Cat" game has been released on IPhone - no kidding, and it's a short film from Don Bluth that is surely much less known than Balto !!)

Yes, I know. But the good thing about Steam is that it advertise your game a lot, True, they want a high % for each copy you sell through their platform, but overall it would be agood choice.

Yeah, good idea, I wonder if you have to pay royalities. But since it's Apple, I bet the answer is yes. Also, they have to be developed in Java, right? You're the expert here.

I think Apple will make it look like crap, someone else like Nintendo on the DSi seems more appeasing, does it not?
