Does the dog pack know she's part wolf? Or do they find out later?

Jerome jumped through the trees, following the wails of something near the dirt road that ran through the forest. As he reached the gap, he saw it was a human car with blue and red lights flashing and it made a terrible wailing sound. He was about to turn away and he heard something fall. He leaned over a tree branch and saw a dog crouched in a ditch. Was she hit? Jerome asked himself as he leapt down to the forest floor and walked over to the dog in the ditch. She was asleep and the cold from the ice and water would surely kill her before dawn. Jerome wondered what to do and in the end - he lay down beside the female and let his warmth cover her. I'll let her recover then take her to Sparrow. Jerome decided.

He watched the Aurora sparkle over him, like his past family was watching him. He winced and lay his head down, waiting for morning to come when he could talk with the female.

Jerome did not sleep, he wanted to make sure the dog stayed here. As she fidgeted her sleep, his thoughts circled around him and drifted off into the Aurora. As the dawn light came up, her movement stopped and her breathing became normal. Around noon, he felt her wake up and attempt to leap away from him. He could see the fear in her eyes and the wound on her leg was worse then he had thought.Chima can treat that though. He thought. "I am Jerome. Subordinate of the dog pack that lives in these woods." He answered, "Please do not fear me. I only wish to help you, though I have no control over what Sparrow wants to do with you when I bring you to the pack." He walked over to her, carrying a mouse he had managed to catch while she was asleep.

"You must eat if you are to find the strength to move. Your leg can support you for a short while, the pack is not far a way." He informed, dropping the food at her feet and dipping his head to show his kindness.

Jerome turned around and faced the forest. "The fastest way to the pack is by leaping through the trees. I don't think you can do that just yet so we have to walk." Jerome took a step back and let Koyuki lean against him for support. As they walked, he could smell the many scents of his pack mates up ahead. "We are almost there." He said, pulling himself over a root that hid the entrance to the pack den that rested inside a cave. As he passed, the dogs looked up and eyed Koyuki, some of them looked curious, while others looked hostile. Chima was padding along through the cave and she looked at Jerome and Koyuki. Chima turned to look at the leg wound and traded places with Jerome so Koyuki could lean on her shoulder. "I can fix up that wound and it will be better in no time." She assured the dog and lead her to a gap in the walls where Chima took care of sick dogs. It was almost like another cave inside this one, except smaller. Jerome kept walking towards Sparrow's den, eager to find out what his leader wanted to do with the dog he found in the ditch.

"Sparrow." He began, "I found a she dog in a ditch, badly hurt. I think she was hit by a human car but I'm not sure." Jerome informed, careful not to step too far into the den and upset his leader.

Jerome dipped his head respectfully and backed out of the den. He made his way around and dashed out of the den. Leaping from tree to tree, he decided to teach this dog how the pack worked. He stopped by the waterfall that supplied the pack's water and bent down to drink. The distant howl of a wolf made him look up and prick his ears. Jerome realized he was close to the boundary between the dog pack and the wolf pack. Backing away, he ran back to the den, keeping quiet about his venture towards enemy territory. Jerome peeked inside Chima's den, watching Koyuki. "So, what exactly happened to you?" He asked, sitting down next to her, "You don't seem like one of us. Didn't you know this is wild dog territory? Most house pets aren't welcome in these parts. You're lucky you didn't wind up in wolf territory beyond the waterfall."

Chima left her den for a few moments and when she came back, she had a roll of gauze the humans use for wounds. "Richiev found this on the dirt road you found Koyuki near. The human car must have dropped it. Good thing I've dealt with it before, I know how to apply it to wounds." Chima said. She grabbed a bitter smelling leaf and bit down into it, letting the juices drip into the wound on Koyuki's leg. She then licked the blood away and wrapped the gauze around her leg with her teeth. The bandages went from her paw up to her middle thigh. "There, it should be better soon." Chima said, placing her supplies down.

"I though you where hit by the car," Jerome confessed. "Yes, I spoke to Sparrow. He said he was going to let you rest then pay you a visit and see what he has in mind." Jerome said, standing up and walking out of the den. He passed the other dogs and walked back to the waterfall. Something keeps drawing me here. But what? Jerome asked himself. He lay down and looked into the crystal clear water that shone under his paws. The howl of the wolf made him wince, his thoughts about his past crumbling over him.If I hadn't ran away...they could still be with me. He murmured and fell into a deep sleep.

Chima watched him go and turned to Koyuki. "That seems pretty bad. Once Sparrow passes judgment maybe you can go back to him." Chima prompted. She stopped talking as a dog padded in, a thorn driven deep into his paw pad. "Richeiv! You must stay clear of the bramble bushes!" Chima scolded and her brother sunk away from her, looking sorrow. "Let me see your pad," She eyed the thorn and gripped it in her teeth, yanking the thorn out. "There. Now lick it clean and next time you hunt, pay attention to where you put your paws." She nuzzled her brother and went back into her den.
