In the deserted mountains and forests of Siberia, two very different kingdoms are settled there. Actually, these packs are more like the early native american tribes. They run like wolf packs, however, and certain rules must be followed. Two of the most important concern love and mates. If the daughter of the alpha family is to take on as leader, her father must choose her mate because he will be the alpha male and true leader of the pack. The other, mating between packs may be punishable by death. The two lovers in this story have problems with both laws.

The daughter of the alpha pair of the Black River pack had fallen in love with the son of the alpha pair of the Mountain Pass pack. She is already betrothed to another. He is supposed to be in search of a mate. The only place they can meet is Dead Man's Land, but it is just a barren and windsweeped land of no one. Can these two rebels keep their love a secret? Or will this be the start of a revaltion between these two packs?

Alright. Where should we start?

On one foggy morning, a pack of werewolves led by Cody (the pack's alpha's son of the Mountain Pass Pack) ambushed some enemy werewolves on enemy lands. Once most of the opposing werewolves were down, Cody ordered his pack to split into groups of two and hunt down the survivors. So, Cody chased after another werewolf by himself and cornered it at a cliff, not knowing who it was. He said when the werewolf was cornered "There is no where left to run. Turn around and face me."
