Thanks for posting all this - I had found most of these links myself, but not everything. I'll have to go through my bookmarks and see what I can add to the list I especially like the interviews : for example I had no idea that : Quote: Doing TaleSpin was pretty nuts for us because we had four Producers, four Assistant Producers, four prop designers, everything. Four teams working on TaleSpin at the same time!!! And even more "productions" teams apparently (Walt Disney Animation Japan, Disney France, Sun Woo Animation, Wang Film Productions) That's insane! That could explain something I have found this week, on "The Animation Guild" site (a sort of blog / newspaper for actual workers in animation - I ofter go there to know "what's happening" and the future animation projects...) http://www.animationguild.org/_Pegboard ... 200906.pdfI can't copy/paste the text as it's a PDF, but it's on the 2nd page : basically, the author says that back in the Disney Afternoon times, there were too many writers/staff, which made the process of validation of stories very long and painful... At the same time, that could also explain why the TaleSpin (and the other DA shows) had very good quality stories, but it's also surprising that they could maintain a good coherence in the stories / characters, with all these different teams and people working on them... It could also explain the downfall of the Disney shows after mid-1995, with all the layoffs they had to make... Oh, by the way : I'm going to post the "character guides" links you provided in the Fanfics section, as it's VERY interesting for everyone who plans to write TS fanfics. (And same thing for the fanarts.)

Updated! Added 60 new links. (I removed a few links that were too general and replaced them with more category specific links.)

Of course it is In fact, you've used that section better than anyone else did on the whole board (including the section for the two other films) Thanks! Actually I think you should copy / paste this and put it as an article on the site, so as to get more people attracted. (I think many don't even check that section) (Note : I'll have to check all these links myself...)

Sure, I can go ahead and send all this as an article if you like. One thing though, I'll probably accumulate more links for another update in a few weeks or so... Will I be able to update the article?

Yes it is possible to update articles. (even if the interface isn't that great, but it is still working)

I have links that some of the cast and crew created for themselves (lots of them; tons of fun): http://gregory-weagle.livejournal.com/169150.htmlQuote: Doing TaleSpin was pretty nuts for us because we had four Producers, four Assistant Producers, four prop designers, everything. Actually; they techincally had five teams since Ed Ghertner was replaced by James T. Walker after Jolly Molly Christmas. I think they had anywhere from 5-6 story editors, up to 15 writers on one team. I think they had three teams related to sound (The movie guys with Rick Hinson, the cartoon team with Tim J. Bourqez; and David John West Productions in a few of them). They also had a lot of freelancers working; some of them are uncredited due to the fixed width font used for the credit endings. I still discover people claiming that they worked on TaleSpin that were not credited; Glenn Hill being the latest.

That's an impressive list Quote: Actually; they techincally had five teams since Ed Ghertner was replaced by James T. Walker after Jolly Molly Christmas. Well that makes it even more impressive, no wonder how they were able to make so many varied and interesting stories! The question is : was it the same for the other DA shows? And I guess they really don't have so many people working on their current TV animated series...

Quote: Well that makes it even more impressive, no wonder how they were able to make so many varied and interesting stories! The question is : was it the same for the other DA shows? And I guess they really don't have so many people working on their current TV animated series... TaleSpin had 26 writers (which was less than Ducktales had; although to be fair Ducktales had 25 extra episodes plus the movie); seven story editors; 86 voice talents, 13 animation directors, 7 assistant producers, 47+ storyboard designers (clean up and sluggers are uncredited by Disney by the way; and Keith Tucker should be on the list but isn't), seven character designers, 5 prop designers, 9 Layout designers, 8 background designers, 7 color key designers, 4 overseeing the animation overseas, 15 Timing directors, 15 production assistants, eight sound editors and so on. I don't know the exact details of how the other series are coordinated; but I think they are went the same way. As for current television series; I humbly disagree. I think the cast & crew numbers are similar to what they are in 1990; mileage varies depending on the production. The difference is that there are far fewer people uncredited.

Quote: I think the cast & crew numbers are similar to what they are in 1990 Well then, this makes it very hard to believe they need as many writers to do something like "Mickey's Clubhouse"...Or that means they really are under-exploiting their resources. I do remember reading something on the Animation Guild about Disney having too much staff (especially writers) during/after the DA and having to lay off a lot...

You can use Babelfish to translate the page. Paste the url into the "Translate a web page" field and select "French to English" from the drop-down box.

Gregory Weagle wrote: I'm not sure if you noticed this steet; but I found this while doing some follow up work on the French Animators from Walt Disney France. http://artofdisney.canalblog.com/archiv ... 56426.html It even includes storyboards from various series and movie and three interviews. It's all in French though; so for English speakers; you will need Babelfish or whatever. I also found this little gem: http://www.les-dessous-du-dessin.be/det ... lanche=948Very interesting! I knew the site but didn't visit for some time, so I didn't see the article. I honestly didn't know the studio ran up to 2003. I thought it was long gone since the mid 90's, but they actually worked on some of the feature films (which I wasn't aware of) even if they didn't do TV animation anymore. The two storyboard pictures are very cool; there are also interviews from a few guys at the studios that I'll have to listen to when I get the time. I think I'll contact the blog owner to both ask for some contacts (maybe I could do my own interview? and I'm sure there are more TS storyboards to find), and maybe to ask for a partnership...
