Hey guys,
I recently contacted steet, asking him about this topic, so for the record - I have his permission.

This topic is the official topic for suggesting website's to be added to the Animation Source Project. If you would like to suggest a website, please label it like this:

Code: Select all

Name:
Film or Series:
General Information:
Owner/Producing company:
(If Possible) Link to the film/series Wikipedia page:
Why should we add it?
It SHOULD appear like this:

  • Name:
  • Film or Series:
  • General Information:
  • Owner/Producing company:
  • Link to the film/series Wikipedia page:
  • Why should we add it?

Every five days the poll will change (if there is another website ready to hit the polls), and steet should check up on the topic often. So if you think your suggestion is worth suggesting, suggest it here, and see what the members think of it (Please Note: Your suggestion may win/lose the poll, but the final decision is up to steet).

Current Suggestion's:
Odyssey Source
The Fox and the Hound Source
Brother Bear Source
Wolf's Rain Source
Lady and the Tramp Source
The Last Unicorn Source
101 Dalmations Source
Secret of NIMH Source
Redwall Source
An American Tail Source

Awaiting steet's approval:
Star Blazers Source

Accepted Suggestion's:
Spirit Source

Rejected Suggestion's:
Pokemon Source

The official contests, which will be used to choose members who will be creating the sites, are now on the site.

Thank you.

Doesn't make me think any differently about you trying to play staff lol.

I remember them days... I laugh at myself sometimes.

The good ol' days.

  • Why should we add it? Despite being not all that old and made by the same people who made The Lion King it didn't become as popular as I expected it would. There are hardly any Spirit fan-sites and those I *have* found were abandoned and old. It's one of the first animated movies to use 3D CGi to make 2D characters. Keeping it looking like a traditional animated film but using a mix of 3D and traditional 2D animation.
There's also a very strong fan-base on dA with horse artists and a lot of people who like Balto and/or TLK also like Spirit.

Poll added for next few days.

EDIT: Wow...a poll is up even before anyone else has had a chance to offer suggestions. I wonder what that says about this...

  • Name: Star Blazers
  • Film or Series: Early anime series, and movies
  • General Information: An early animated series, one of the first anime cartoons (before they were even called "anime"), with one of the most complex, dramatic and heroic storylines ever. In the late 22nd century (2199), Earth is under severe attack by an aggressive alien force, bent on claiming the planet as their own. They bomb the Earth from space with radioactive "planet bombs" in an attempt to destroy all native life before conquering. In space, the Earth forces have met this alien force repeatedly, but have been defeated each time, and now are all but destroyed entirely. One hope remains. From deep in space, a message is received on Earth from another alien, sympathetic to Earth's plight. She offers an advanced machine which can rid the Earth of the deadly radioactivity, and restore it to life. However, the citizens of Earth must send out a ship to retrieve it...across thousands of light years of dangerous space. A multi-national crew is put together, and an old ship (the remains of the WWII battleship Yamato) is fitted out as an armed space cruiser to undertake the perilous journey there and back. But they only have one year to complete the mission, before all life on Earth becomes extinct! (There were two sequel series done afterwards.)
  • Owner/Producing company: Office Academy/Voyager Entertainment
  • Link to the film/series Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Blazers (a better site would be http://www.starblazers.com, the official site of Voyager Entertainment's Star Blazers series. They are the current copyright owner, and were the American/Canadian distributor of the series originally)
  • Why should we add it? Seeing as the goal of Animation Source is to promote primarily lesser-known animated movies and series, and not the real big ones which are generally well-known and actively followed, this would be an excellent addition to the Animation Source Project. Since there are already so many anime fans on Animation Source, this is a chance for them to be exposed to one of Japan's original anime series (and its various language dubs...the most popular being the English dub). It has elements of Star Trek, Star Wars, and various better-known anime classics and current favorites in it, but with a much more dramatic, heroic and complex storyline than most of the anime in existence. It enjoyed SUBSTANTIAL popularity in Japan, not only as an original animated movie, but also a televised series (and some subsequent animated movies), but also gained considerable popularity during its original American/Canadian run as an English-dubbed series, and has a substantial cult fan following even to this day. There is even a live-action movie, in what is known as "development hell", that was slated for production by Hollywood, with the Yamato being replaced by the U.S.S. Arizona. It has yet to see the light of day...but is still greatly hoped-for by Star Blazers fans.

Marked down as next week's poll.

Thank you for your suggestion.

EDIT:// It has also been added to the "Current Suggestions" zone.

EDIT-EDIT:// I personally think this is a great idea. I never heard of this movie (As said, not many people have), this will certainly be one to try and buy. It's rather interesting.

He means not every site suggestion will make it. To those who did suggest a site will be disappointed. Though I won't, as it's not that big of a deal to me.

Unfortunately, the poll system has failed, so Star Blazers Source wont be up until it works again.

Spirit Source has been moved to approval section.

I don't see why it should. If people do get disappointed they need to keep in mind that this is just for SUGGESTIONS. Not all entries are going to make it. In fact, if you look at it in a different way, it's kind of like a contest entry. You can hope yours is chosen, but there's a good chance yours won't be. I mean, c'mon, it's not like the perosn who gets the site entry chosen is going to win money or anything. Lol.

The way this topic is going so far I see signs of no disappointment at all. I highly doubt any members who like to do any drama or complain are going to mess around with this topic. Those kind of people usually are too lazy to post all of the information. (No offense to anyone whatsoever)

I have watched several episodes of Redwall not too long ago, I stumbled upon it on TV - unfortunately they stopped airing it before I could see more.
(bad thing too that the first episode I have seen was the final episode  )
It's surprisingly serious for a series where characters designs are close to "Franklin the turtle"...

Steet, you're in luck. I happen to have full playlists of all three series, and this Monday I should be able to get off-campus. I would be delighted to link you to them then for your (and anyone else's) scrutiny and viewing pleasure.

General Information: Bolt is a 2008 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, and is its 48th animated feature. It is directed by Chris Williams, who previously worked on Mulan and The Emperor's New Groove. The film stars the voices of John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Malcolm McDowell, Claire Holt, Diedrich Bader, Nick Swardson, Greg Germann, Susie Essman and Mark Walton. The film's plot centers on a small white dog named Bolt who, having spent his entire life on the set of a television series, thinks that he has super powers. When he believes that his human, Penny, has been kidnapped, he sets out on a cross-country journey to "rescue" her.

Why should we add it? I think it's a movie for ALL ages. It has some humour, yet some emotion. How they have a show that involvs around him, Bolt thinks it's all real (the super hero and villian stuff) I think that's really clever, yet funny! I think the characters earned my love. I think they're great (especially Rhino the Hamster) The soundtrack, in my opinion, was great. The style of art awed me. I have nothing bad to say about Bolt. It's a great movie, and had me smiling through the whole movie!

Steet has already said Bolt will not be added.

Regarding my last post, better make that Thursday. Something's come up here at camp.

Conay --> That's kind of disappointing, but it makes sense. After all, Bolt fanfics (and art, within reason) could go on this site anyway, since content pertaining to dogs is generally accepted.
