In Italy, researchers have said that If you want to get someone to do something, ask them in their right ear.

They believe this is because the left side of the brain, which is known to be better at processing requests, deals with information from the right ear.

These we're tested in three different studies.

First study:

286 clubbers were observed while they were talking with loud music in the background.
In total, 72% of interactions occurred on the right side of the listener.

Second Study:

Then the researchers approached around 160 clubbers and mumbled an inaudible, meaningless utterance and waited for the subjects to turn their head and offer either their left or their right ear.

They then asked them for a cigarette.

Overall, 58% offered their right ear for listening and 42% their left.

Third and Final study:

For the final study, the researchers intentionally addressed about 176 clubbers in either their right or their left ear when asking for a cigarette.

The researchers obtained significantly more cigarettes when they spoke to the clubbers' right ear compared with their left.

Conclusion:

The researchers said: "Talk into the right ear you send your words into a slightly more amenable part of the brain.

"These results seem to be consistent with the hypothesised specialisation of right and left hemispheres."




Interesting huh? I find this fairly amazing, but not surprising.

That's interesting to know,now I know why I always hold my music stuff next to my right ear,cause I feel werid when holding it next to my left ear and listening to it. I also wonder if left handed people hold their stuff to their left ear,I always heard that they used more of the right side of the bain..

Another way to prove the theory,I have a ear infection that caused my mouth to hurt also and my father put medicnce in it and a cotton ball so when I sat up it wouldn't drip out. I ended up walking oddly like I was limping,and everyone yelling for me to hear because my left ear. It sucks cause I still have it and I can't eat even soft foods!!

I could answer that, since I'm left handed. Lol. People who are left handed also hold stuff to their right ear, just like right handed people. It is true that we use more of the right side of our brains, too.

That's cool,truth is,I was I was left and right handed,there was some fancy word for it I think but that's off topic. I have to ask,does it feel werid or more normal to hold stuff to your right ear then left?

Normal. I wouldn't see how it would be weird, though most people I know think it would. Possibly since I was born left handed and copied my parents doing stuff with their right hand, it just was a normal thing for me. This is probably the same thing that happened for all left handers.
