Well, I've been searching for the ultimate book to read over the summer. I tend to have an enormous amount of time to spare, since it is the summer. And this summer looks bleak, since it has rianed for an entire week straight. I've seen several interesting books I'd like to take a shot at. One happens to be The Sight by David Clement-Davies, and its followers. I thought I might get The Sight to start off, but then I decided to use the power of the internet to see if it was a real good book after all. I would also like to see if anyone has any books they enjoy that they would like to share.

Here's what I want

-A GOOD review. Not just a phrase or sentence stating that the book is great. That doesn't help me. I need details, your thoughts, why you liked it.

-None of that Twilight junk. I am reading the series, not obssessively like most of you people, and it's good. I don't want this topic flooded with Twilight this and that. That sickens me.

-Any series or books that follow that you seem excited about. If you like the first book, you tend to enjoy the following books, so give me a series.

-Any authors your specifically enjoy or admire. Explain why. Don't give me, 'Oh, I like Stephenie Meyer. She made Edward a god.' That, first of all, goes in the NO Twilight section, and second, doesn't help me. This topic is to help me and other members, if interested.

-Any recommendations on The Sight, since I am really interested in grabbing at that.

-NO SPOILERS! This ruins a book for others. And it gets me very angry if I am interested in a book and someone posts and ruins it for me. Ugh... horrible. I want none of that. You CAN give away little details, but nothing big, like the ending or climax of a book.

-No recommendations on the following:

*Warriors(series) ~ Erin Hunter

*Hatchet and The River ~ Gary Paulsen

*White Fang ~ Jack London

*Twilight(series) ~ Stephenie Meyer

*Peak ~ Roland Smith

*Cracker!: The Best Dog In Vietnam ~ Cynthia Kadohata

*DogSong ~ Gary Paulsen

*Seekers ~ Erin Hunter

*Among The Hidden(Book One ONLY) ~ Margaret Peterson Haddix

*The Cat Ate My Gym Suit ~ Paula Danziger

*Island Of The Blue Dolphins ~ Scott O'Dell

*Marley: A Dog Like No Other ~ John Grogan

These ARE ALL books I have read or started to read. I already know them, and I don't want a recommendation on a book I already read. That would be mostly pointless.

I look forward to news and/or recommendations!

Hello, Metal! How are you?

I'd like to say that you look like the reader, LOL.

Okay, first off. In my opinion, I am the biggest Warriors fan of all time. The reason why I like it, is because, I really like animals and I think it's clever. I love how Victoria Holmes (the main of the three Erin Hunters) writes. I've read 18 out of the 24, so far. I really love the characters, and the villians are always perfect. Like Tigerstar :D
I think any fan of reading and/or animals should read this series. It's well written, I like the messages in some books, brings alot of tears, sadness, frustration, happiness, and I'm never bored. I absolutely love it! I'd give it a hundred outta ten but I can't, so 10/10!

You said you'd look into the Sight? I've read it before, and let me tell ya, it's not like Warriors...
I'm not going to tell you anything, it's just a little more harsh than some other books I've read...

Yes, well I do tend to read rather well. And, I've read the summary on the back of The Sight, and I think it's rather interesting and new.

As for the warriors, I do enjoy them, though I tend to get a bit fussy over them throughout certain parts.

if you want a good book series, I want to suggest you The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver, they're four books, the first one is Wolf Brother, the second Spirit Walker, the third Soul Eater and the fourth is Outcast.
I really liked this series, they're about Torak's journey to fight and defeat the bad spirits, in the first book, for example, he had to defeat the Bear spirit that killed his father. He is with a wolf pup (that will grow with him) named Wolf that considers Torak a brother since he saved him. After Torak, still in the first book, will meet Renn, a girl that will be his best friend and that will follow him...it's a great series, I really enjoyed it =)

Alpha Aleu, if you read my first post, it states that you have to name WHY you like these books.

Well, if you like dogs, (which i'm preety sure you do) I suggest reading "The Good Dog."

Its about a husky named McKinley who is the 'alpha dog' around his town. But one day a female wolf comes into the town, trying to gather dogs to coem into the wild with her to form a pack. And blah blah blah just read the book. I love it because its all about dogs, and I love the charractar of Lupin, and i'm certian you would like it to.

Here are a list of charries that are 'main.'
McKinley
Aspen
Lupin
Redburn
Duchess

Here is a pic of the cover. http://images.syndetics.com/index.php?c ... G&type=hw7

So many authors...

Scott Westerfield: He wrote the UGlies, Pretties, Specials series. And the 4th one, Extra. He has wonderful talent, and is wonderful at adding action into any tiny thing. He is completly awesome. He thinks of wonderfuls characters and twists for the plot. The plot is(1st book) there is a world were everyone turns pretty. The start as littlies, moving to ugly dorms at 12. The get an operation at 16 that makes them pretty, perfect skin, hair eyes, you name it. It's in the future, and the uglies and pretties are seperated, pretties partying all day, uglies waiting to turn. The city evolved from when our world was destroyed. They call us Rusties now. Tally Youngblood is one of the uglies waiting to turn. She is 15. Aftyer pulling a major trick, she meets a girl name Shay, who is turning the smae time she is. BUt Shay has met somone from the outside, who has convinced her to run away. She tries to convince Tally to come, but Tally refuses. A Special(read the book to find out what the hack they are :) ) delay Tally's operation. She has to find where Shay went, and all the others that were convinced. She has to chose, betray her friend, or stay an ugly for life. She makes a desicion that changes her life, finding out a horrible secret about the operation and pretties along the way.

There is also The Hunger Games series. It is also in the future, where a North America is now called Panem. There is a central Capitol, with life full of riches and the best tehre is. There is also 12 districts outlying it, they get the worst, some starving, alot dying. There used to be 13 districts, but in a rebellion, District 13 was destroyed. To remind the other districts of how in control they were, they formed teh Hunger Games. 2 contestants from each district are picked randomly to be in the HUnger Games, a boy and a girl. In the Hunger Games, winning means glory and fame, losing means a certian death

Only a few:

Call Of The Wild-Jack London If you Liked White fang youll probably like this. Its not quite as complicated (In My opinion) But is a good book. The descriptions are beautiful and Its got a good flo to the story.

and If you havent read it already i'd Suggest The Novel of Plague dogs. Its Quite a bit better than the movie, and Richard has always Been a good writer in My expierience.

Apart from That How about a Dogs Life? (I thinks Thats What its called) Its about an abandoned puppy and is a pretty endearing book.
