Mods: Incase you are reading this, Pecario and I are not posting our bios because we know each other's characters so well, so we feel that there is no need to. If you have any problem with this, feel free to PM either one of us.

Summary: The year is 2050 and due to horrendous amounts of garbage overflowing several landfills in the windy city of Chicago, all human life has deserted the area. The only creatures that have survived the massive pollution are local dogs (and even wolfdogs) that have bred specifically to develop an immunity to the level of toxicity in the atmosphere. Among them are Shanecae, known as Ms. Shae to the canine occupants of the town, and a new arrival by the name of Rio, who has highly rare and unusual power deemed 'geass'. No one has been brave enough to approach this recent resident except Shanecae, the leader of the remaining dogs. What the repercussions of their meeting will have, no one has any idea but they all instinctively fear that things are about to change dramatically, and rapidly...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patches of hazy sunlight broke through ominous-looking rain clouds and beamed down onto the rising and falling sides of a pitch-black wolfdog. Feeling a warmth that she hadn't encountered in a long time, Shanecae stirred and opened her emerald green eyes. She was vaguely surprised that it was still daytime; it wasn't often that she registered what time of day it was because it was almost always hard to tell what with the overlypolluted environment affecting the visibility of the sun or moon in the sky. As the lithe wolfdog rose to her paws, she padded silently out of her makeshift bed in an old SUV tire to survey the other dogs in the junkyard which was the permanent home of the other canine residents of the abandoned windy city.

All of them were noisly milling about and as Shanecae continued to gaze at them, she pricked her ears forward so that she was able to catch snatches of their conversations.

"Wonder when our next hunting trip is going to be, our supply is getting a tad low.."
"Getting a bit restless, how about you, Sheila? I thought we might entertain ourselves by going to see what that strange new wolf is doing, eh?"

At the mention of the newest arrival to Chicago, Shanecae leapt off the pile of old cars and other miscellanous junk near her bed and sprinted towards two tawny-furred spaniels who had been conversing about the new arrival loudly. She skidded to a stop just in front of the pair of them, and had to surpress a chuckle at their startled expressions. They hastily arranged their expressions into polite smiles and greeted her with the airiness of someone trying to act as though they had not just been discussing something thought to be inappropriate to mention.

"How goes it, Ms. Shae?" The smaller of the two cocker spaniels yelped at her.
"Pleasant weather we're having today, eh?" The other one barked out.

She smirked at them and replied wryly, "Yes, I just love the nice greenish tint to the clouds, it always assures me that I'm going to have a good day. Anyway, why are you two going to go stalk that new wolf? I thought we had all decided that it was best to leave her alone unless she tries to approach us on her own terms? All we know is that she comes a long way from here, and we have no idea if her intentions are hostile or not."

"Always the sarcastic one aren't you Ms. Shae? Anyhow, as I was saying to Sheila, I'm getting bored and I just wanted to do something entertaining to liven things up." The larger spaniel commented rather nervously and watched Shanecae's face surreptitiously.

The young wolfdog's temper flared at this response, and snapped at Sheila's companion Hardy ferociously, "So you're willing to jeapordize the safety of our whole gang for a bit of 'entertainment'? Because if that fae is hostile, and she decides to chase you two, I feel fairly confident in saying that you two would be so stupid as to lead her back here just to get her off your two sorry tails!"

Before either of them could respond to her harsh accusations, Shanecae stormed off in the direction of the city borders so that she could get out of the town and go hunting for a while to blow off some steam and also to help replenish the food pile in the junkyard, seeing as she had heard the others complaining about it earlier. And has she angrily pelted toward the outskirts of the town, she kept muttering, "Have to do everything myself around here, don't I? Sorry excuses for.." And the rest she kept mumbling inaudibly, yet in an irritated tone all the way to the popular hunting spot which was a medium-sized forest about 5 miles outside of the abandoned city.

A heap of tawny brown fur lay bloodied on the cold hard earth, literally in the middle of nowhere. Her resting place was not too far from a town she had previously intended on arriving the night before, however there were some conplications that called for her risking her life. The wolf hybrid had been laying there for hours, long enough for any scavengers to tear at her flesh for an easy meal, but so far nothing had come to investigate her unconcious form.

Steel-blue eyes were shut tight as the creature lay there, unmoving. Her sides rose and fell with a steady breathing rate, but at times the process quickened as she dreamed. It would seem impossible to dream if one passed out a good while ago, but this hybrid was different.

The tawny wolfdog cantered through the barren wasteland that separated an abandoned city from a small populated area where the humans have fled. The air was thick with toxins, which slowed the female considerably in her travels, but she qas capable to tolorate it once she continued on. Everything had seemed to stay clear of her path, that is until two large shadowy figures came at her head on. They must have been from the city she was heading towards, Chicago.

The female stopped dead in her tracks and glared at the two huge canines that stood in her way. By the looks of them, they were male dogs, probably between the ages of five and six, which meant that they were in their prime. A win in a fight would seem inevidable, but the wolf hybrid had a trick up her sleeve. She began to speak, however the sleeping canine was unable to understand what her illusion was saying, though since this happened no more than five hours ago she knew exactly what she was saying.

Suddenly one of the males replied, also inaudible however still understood by the dreaming canine. Again the female spoke, her expression mocking with a clever grin. The males both looked angered and slowly stepped closer towards the female before lunging forward. By the looks of things, it seemed that the wolf hybrid had met her end, but when she opened her mouth to a silent snarl, time seemed to have stopped.

The unconcious hybrid growled in her sleep, moving her limbs as if she were living the dream.

She looked closer at the mirror image of herself in her dream, where she noted that her right eye was different from the left. At closer inspection, she realized that this was the time she had used her hidden gift given to her by a wolf she had met just the other day in her travels. Her right eye was glazed a dull maroon and in the center where the pupil would be was a bright magenta bird-like shape, while her left eye remained a cold steel-blue.

The female mumbled as she cringed, watching the two males as they stood there stupidly before everything went black.

There she lay, covered in splotches of blood. Just in front of her, also laying very still, were two male canines with their throats brutally mutilated. Whatever had happened, it left everyone present laying on the ground, completely vulnerable to the elements of Mother Nature and living creatures searching for something to eat.

An agitated Shanecae thrust herself ever faster as her irritation increased. The scenery blurred as her speed reached its peak. Time seemed to fly by, and within minutes it seemed, she had arrived at the forest several miles outside of town. As it came closer into view, her sharp eyes detected three lumps of fur on the ground. At this sight, the lithe wolfdog skidded to a dead halt in front of the two males that she recognized as belonging to her gang back in abandoned Chicago. Her head spun as she realized that their flanks did not rise up and down from breathing. She nudged their bodies gently with a paw, and shuddered at how cold they were. How can Derek and Danny be dead? This makes no sense, but wait... Shae's thoughts broke off as she noticed that their throats were ripped to pieces and that blood was pooled around both their still bodies. A horrible image began to form in her mind, and it was one of the two males attacking each other viciously, lunging at one anothers' throats. But there's no way they would kill each other, they were best friends, I mean they thought of each other as brothers for cripes' sake!

Out of the corner of her eye, a tawny-furred mound of fur's flanks rose up and down slowly. Shae's eyes widened and as she padded silently towards the unconscious form, she realized that this must be the new arrival to her city. Her head jerked from side to side several times as she looked from the two dead males and back to the fae again. No idea popped up in her head that could help her make sense of the situation that had occurred. As she more closely examined the sleeping fae, her emerald green eyes noted that no blood lay upon the maw of this new wolfdog, but as Shae's eyes wandered down to the furry chest, she saw that it was spattered in blood. Obviously this fae hadn't personally delivered the death blows to either of the males, but Shanecae had a suspicious feeling that the unconscious wolfdog somehow had a part in her gang members' deaths.

As this vague conclusion settled in her mind, she began to feel murderously angry for reasons she could not entirely explain, not even to herself. Her anger seeped through into her actions and she roughly prodded the fae laying on the ground.

"Get up, I don't know who you are but you're going to be coming with me. Grab a body and follow me or there will be consequences."

And without waiting for a response or movement from the sleeping wolfdog, Shanecae picked up the grey-furred body of Derek in her mouth and trodded off back towards the abandoned city, her thoughts whirling with what she was going to say to the rest of her gang, and she mentally cringed at the expressions of the two dead best friends' families when they would see the cold and bloody bodies of their loved ones. She also knew that the others would perhaps be suspicious when they saw an unknown fae walking with their leader, especially when it had been Shae who had given the order to not approach the new wolf in the first place...

Time went by slowly, and the tawny female had remained in the same place where she had first blacked out. It was the second time ever using the strange power given to her by that strange wolf, but she was lucky to have obtained it. This female had no reason to live; she had no family to visit, no mate to live with happily ever after, hell she didn't have any siblings to keep her company, at least not any more. Just a few days ago, she was running from a pack of hunting dogs in a forest near another town with her younger sister. Human must have been despirate for meat to be hunting wolves or even wolf hybrids, but whatever the reason the two siblings were quick to flee. It wasn't until they reached the deepest part of the forest, where they thought they would be safe, where the younger sibling triped on herself before falling to the ground. The older sibling had no knowledge of this happening and continued on running, thinking that her younger sister was still right at her tail. Unfortunately, the younger sibling fell victim to the pack of dogs, before being left to die a slow and painful death; the dogs must have thought that she wasn't worth taking to their master because she was scrawny and thin.

Later that night the older sibling, whom had realized just after leaving the forest that her sister was missing, had discovered her younger sister on the ground, bleeding notoriously. She tried to comfort her dying sibling, but was inturrupted by one of the pack dogs whom had returned to deliver the final blow to end the poor creature's life. He was a massive dog, probably a mastiff, and neither of the siblings were a match for his strength. A few words were exchanged before the male dog moved in closer, deciding he could kill both and bring back the older wolfdog to his masters for her meat and fur. He stalked towards the tawny sister (the older sibling -Rio-) before charging her and knocking her to the ground as his fangs met her right shoulder. The wolfdog growled in pain and begged to be spared, which amused the mastiff; now he had the idea of torture. He lifted the female with his powerful jaws that clutched her scruff before throwing her towards a tree. The impact sucked the wind right out of her lungs, leaving her gasping for breath as she leaned weakened against the tree trunk. The male dog came at her again, and this time with more force; his jaws ripped at her left shoulder, drawing blood, which sent her rolling down a small decline in the ground behind a thick wall of bushes. That's when the strange wolf appeared.

The older sibling's vision blurred, and before long she was in what looked like to be a parallel universe. A beautiful silver-furred wolf appeared through the thick vegitation and walked right up towards the tawny hybrid. He had been watching the incident and saw that this particular wolfdog had potential. His voice was strong and comforting as he said a few choice words towards the female, making a contract with her, although the female could not see him through the many images she was seeing with her mind. He had mentioned power, one that would ultimately leave her living a lonely life, separated from the canine society. She would be forever different, but that was a price to pay for saving someone she loved dearly. The older sibling accepted his contract, and in that instant her vison cleared and she was in the forest again, standing while looking around for the source of the voice. With no luck, she returned to the threat, hte male hunting dog, and quickly bounded up the slope before hurling herself through the bushes to meet her foe.

He was standing over her younger sister, her throat clasped in his mouth. The tawny female snarled at him,and in turn the male bit at the grey female's neck before spitting her out and charging the only obstacle challenging him. The female closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before opening her eyes to meet the mastiff. The dog couldn't see it, but the female's right eye had changed; it was now a maroon-ish color with a bright magenta symbol like a bird aroudn the pupil. The wolfdog orderd the dog to go away, and in a matter of seconds the dog obeyed. She was shocked to see that he walked off casually, his eyes dull and emotionless. Her curiosity for the male dog vanished when she remembered her sister lying motionless on the ground and quickly padded over towards her. Tears swelled in her now steel-blue optics as she gazed at her fading sibling, whimpering. The tawny female remembered the contract she made, and in that instant her right eye displayed the same maroon color, with the magenta bird-like symbol, before ordering her sibling to live. Blood leaked from the wound on the younger wolfdog's neck but her sister succumed to the power's spell; however, she had already lost a lot of blood, it was too late. The younger sibling slowly slipped away, leaving her older sister sobbing on top of her limp body.

She groaned at the very memory of her younger sister as she lay there beneath the cloudy green-lit sky. Many a time had she wished that she would have taken her sister's place, but she had to move on and now she was wasted out in the middle of nowehere. That was at least until a paw had roughly prodded her, ultimately waking her up from her slumber.

"Get up, I don't know who you are but you're going to be coming with me. Grab a body and follow me or there will be consequences."

The tawny female groaned as she steadily lifted her head off the ground, and eventually her whole body. She hadn't known what had happened while she was sleeping and she was left very confused.

"Wha...What happened?" She asked, almost forgetting that she had caused the two males' demise. It hit her not too long after asking, and she hastily shook her head to dismiss any responces. A frown spread across her maw when she recalled there being consiquences for not following orders, but she figured that she might as well do what she was told to have something to do. 'What other purpose do I have?'

Slowly the tawny wolfdog approached one of the males' body before grapping it by the throat, where it was ripped open, before following the black-furred canine towards the city in which she had intended on arriving the night before. She was very lucky to have been nudged awake by someone who lived there, but whether it be on good or bad intentions she was just glad to have been alive.

"So... you live in that city up ahead?"The walk seemed long, and the tawny female quickly grew bored and tired; she was still suffering from falling unconcious and the long travel just a day ago, and she just had to ask. IT was pretty clear what the answer might have been, and she was quick to ask something else. "What's your name, anyway? And why did you wake me up to drag this cur back to wherever we're going?" Her words were muffled by the blood-soaked fur that she held in her mouth, but it was audible enough for the other fae to hear them.
