I know about it, but I only found out about it recently. I'm not even sure this series has been aired on a "public" channel here in France. (contrary to the "Disney afternoon" series which were aired on TF1, the "main" public channel here) I can't say much about it because I haven't seen it, but I have never been much interested in "baby" series, and I have never liked The jungle book that much either. (if you think that's contradictory with me liking TaleSpin, well I will repeat : that series really has nothing to do with The jungle book...unlike that one, which is clearly a spin-off)If it was aired, I would be sure to watch it though... One thing though : you seem to imply that it aired for longer than TaleSpin, well I don't think so. It had two seasons, but was only aired for two years (original run) and only got 22 episodes, compared to TaleSpin's 65 episodes which was aired for at least 4 years (as part of the "Disney Afternoon" program) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Afternoon

*raises hand* Yep, I'm a Jungle Cubs fan!
Sadly, that series isn't available to watch ANYWHERE (unlike other official-released ones that are available on YouTube or whatnot), and I miss it. Personally, I found it as a AU type of series (mainly because it's crazy to think that Shere Khan, Baloo, Bagheera, Haiti and Louie were all friends many years before the events of the Jungle Book film . . . or maybe it's not . . . meh.), but I liked how fun it all was. Too bad it didn't last long. The US never got any video releases of Jungle Cubs, but I think Europe (or Region 2 at least) got a couple of episodes on video. *jealous* I doubt Disney would ever release it to DVD, but if they did, I'd buy it the first day it comes out.
I liked the wolf episode in the series - it was rather EPIC compared to other episodes and it's the only one I can even remember.
. . . BLAH, Baby Looney Tunes. It can go rot somewhere. It is nothing compared to Jungle Cubs.

Omg. I loved Jungle Cubs so much. I loved it way more than Talespin, which I only watched sparsely when my Grandma bought a VHS for me and my brother years ago. I bought a Jungle Cubs VHS myself a few years ago, I hope I still have it somewhere because it totally rocked.
Perhaps not as original as Talespin but certainly fun and the characters were in-character too. I liked how Shere Khan was the popular-guy-for-all-the-wrong-reasons, smart @ss but in reality he was a big wimp xD though he was still a tough guy. It was cool to think of them all being kinda-friends as kids too.
...Sudden urge for Jungle Cubs fanart...

Great...sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same series as everyone. But well, it takes all sorts to make a world. Maybe the opinions may be biased on the nostalgic side - something I DONT feel for TaleSpin, since it wasn't a series I watched when I was young. And I will never see Talespin as a spin-off, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Quote: It seems to be one of the movies which Disney has no interest in moving in and out of that cursed "vault" of theirs. And I don't seem to agree with that either...To me it's the opposite, this film has had many releases, even a "direct-to-video-like" sequel that went theatrical, a lot of publicity; and yet I have watched it recently and still don't see what people find so much interesting into it. It's a musical story, without any real scenario (I haven't read the book, but I'm sure it's much better...). And it's slooooooooowwwww...I almost sleep when watching it. Apart from the songs, I find no interest into this film. And I do believe that the only reason they have put it on a piedestal, is that it was the last one that Walt Disney made. It makes me laugh when people judge the Jungle Book 2 very badly because there wasn't anything new in it and because there was no story, well to me that's due to their similarity... I even liked, say, The Black Cauldron better than this...And who knows that one was criticized. ... But I guess this is becoming off-topic.

Apparently that's true (although I don't think it was released in France either - not sure where), but a spanish TaleSpin fan posted a few Jungle cubs videos here : http://community.livejournal.com/tale_spin/(look a bit lower) The reason being that the same Talespin voice actors did the voices of the characters as adults (I *love* their voices, especially Ed Gilbert...He'll be greatly missed )

Ok then, that explains better...It's not so much the content of the series that you dislike, but the "looks" of the characters. I'm not always a fan of furry characters standing on two feets, but I really love the character designs in Talespin. Even minor characters are very well designed, as if they were worked on as much as the major ones... As for the realistic side - well that's exactly one of the things I like the most in TaleSpin : the fact that it's a wonderful world, with original and great ideas, while keeping a good share of realism in the stories and the personalities of the characters. And I do recognize myself better in the Talespin characters, because they are more humans, believable and certainly not stereotypical. I have never seen characters like this in any other animated series. It's a bit...the opposite of what you said, but really, that's what I think As for the whole critic of furries, well that depends of the definition : Balto and TLK are most often considered as part of the furry fandom, too. So that argument isn't a valid one, to me... If that was logical, then you shouldn't like Mickey, Donald and most of Disney characters, because they are also characters similar to the TaleSpin ones...

In the original plan, TaleSpin was going to be a spin-off of DuckTales with Launchpad McQuack as the hero. Somewhere along the lines, it switched over to the Jungle Book characters (though I gotta say now I wonder what Rudyard Kipling's estate thinks about it). Then Launchpad became Darkwing Duck's side-kick.

uh, oh super long post from me .. first off Jersey, I don't know if the show's title says Tailspin where you're at.. but I'm sure it's supposed to TaleSpn(as in a story spin verus TailSpin as in a downward spiral I will point out that Jungle Cubs does stick closer to Kipling's novel than the animated Disney Movie does..(albeit really toned down) particulary the episode Red Dogs which can be found on Youtube.. also, there is another VHS that was released in the U.S called Crazy Congo Capers.. that might be on Amazon or Ebay if your'e lucky to find it.. though I think Jungle Cubs may be one of Disney's most obscure T.V series.. heh, Ju and U.K : I have 2 Jungle Cubs Videos and a baby Bagheera rubber squeaker figurine I got off ebay..( they also had baby Shere Khan (who looked deformed), Louie and Baloo (I gave Louie and Khan away.. and I gave Baloo to my niece :p) well, TaleSpin may have had only 1 season (which is a shame) but a much larger fanbase and has much more often at least where I live.. not mention TaleSpin is older by 6 years.. I do wan't to point out that Disney also made a live action Jungle Book in 1994 called Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book with Jason Scott Lee I believe if your'e interested. funny thing about TaleSpin is that I never heard of Jungle Book til it came out in 1991 on video (one year after T.S premiered) and I thought it was weird that Baloo was originally living in a Jungle in India.. when I got the video I kept comparing J.B's Baloo and T.S's Baloo. which was like yeah, o.k he's fatter and wears clothes.. and has "fingers" instead of claws.. I think he's less shaggy also.. I don't know I think if I saw Jungle Book then T.Spin I'd have a very different opinion.. can you imagine Balto as a 1920's cargo pilot? LOL .. I almost thought that when I first saw Wings of Change :p.. I think the problem with nostalgia is we tend to overlook it's flaws.. I agree with Steet on this.. I love Diisney's animated film Jungle book, but it did feel like a Jungle version of Alice in wonderland.. I was never that interested in The Black Cauldron.. outside of some cool computer effects .. and those awesome two-legged dragon things.. (Gwythinats?? I think) I could care less..it just seemed like an 80's sequel to Sword in the Stone.. I also agree with Jersey on the anthro-animals.. when I watched Kung Fu Panda a few weeks ago. It weirded me out that Po the Panda was eating Noodles and Eggrolls.. I wan't to mention I think it's on the Jungle Book DVD.. that Andreas Deja ( animator of Scar, Jafar, Hercules and others) studied the movements of Bagheera and Shere Khan while animating Scar.. also on Jungle Cubs.. I think all the Cubs were friends.. (the exception maybe S.Khan) but if Fox and the Hound have proved anything. time has a way of changing things.. (though the Baloo and Louie relationship is a bit odd) and lastly, one of the reasons most of the Airplanes have Bird names.. Sea Duck, Iron Vulture. though there was a real plane called the Spruce Goose(name Moose in T.Spin) was because of Launchpad (as Darkfire pointed out).. though personally I'd rather see more Bears and less Ducks if you know what I mean ..
