Mmm, I have written a whole page about the DVDs on the site, including a review I made...

Despite the lack of chapter selection in volume 1 (not to mention no bonus features) I would give the DVDs a perfect score. BTW, in the review about how you criticized the VHS tapes, Wise Up & Fearless Flyers each contain one episode not available on the DVDs. Seeing as how Volume 3 is unlikely, I'd recommend them to any die-hard TS fan.

Yes, only for die-hard fans though because the VHS are very hard to find, and are in used condition (so it doesn't help improving sales for that series anyway)
Another way starts with "You" and finishes with "tube"...

But anyone who likes Talespin can (and should) buy the DVD packs first. I mean, they're very cheap (I'm talking about the price...) considering the number of episodes on each.

I can not decently give them a perfect mark though, because they could still have done a much better job with them - but I'm already glad they released a second volume (so almost all episodes), while other series like Goof Troop or Gummi bears only got a few episodes on DVD...

I would've liked to have a couple of commentaries at least

We all would have, they sure didn't make any real effort when releasing them. (especially on the advertisement side...)
But at least, they released most episodes. Remember that they haven't been released anywhere outside of the USA, so we really can't complain. (I had to import them, but I'm still glad I could)

But we still made up our solution for the commentaries, which is here :

Im pretty sure the dvds we have now are the best we are going to get. And we should be thankful but when I compare the Tale Spin dvds to even older cartoon dvd releases I feel cheated. Does anyone have any of the Thundercats dvds? Man you can tell they went back and restored those episodes. They look so freaking good. Like they were made today. But on Tale Spin the episodes look like they were copyed straight from an old vhs.

But like i said. I should be happy we have them at all.

Yes, that's what I'm saying...it's disappointing they didn't make more efforts, but at least it's much better than nothing.

Actually the quality picture of the Talespin DVD is very bad on my computer screen, but when watching them on my TV (HD), it looks almost as if they've been restored...(yet the two are LCD screns) Some screens just make it much better. (good upscale, good colors...)

A shame they aren't in 16/9 ratio. But considering the source, we don't have much choice :P

I still hope that Disney will release Volume 3 in the near future. After all there are only a few episodes left.

BTW - I visited the Russian TS website today. In the news section there's information about the russian release of TS - 2 volumes, 7 discs each. Volume 1, discs 1 - 7 and Volume 2 discs 1 - 3 will be released in May. Volume 2, discs 4 - 7 will be released in June

It seems that TS's pretty big in Russia.

I did not know about that! Are there any visuals? Will the missing episodes in the US release be included on these DVDs? (if so, I could be interested too)
A shame that nothing's planned in France yet.

That's the only info I was able to find. As far as I know TS is currently airing in Russia and it's pretty popular.
