Part One: The Darkness Stirs
It had been three hundred years since the shadow of the Sith had entered the galaxy. The last time they had appeared the Jedi Order was almost brought to the edge of extinction. The war with Revan and Malak had cost the lives of many Jedi and Republic Soldiers. Countless Star Systems were ravaged by the conflict those Jedi who didn’t die were converted to the Dark Side and became pawns of the Sith. But that came to an end when the Star Forge was destroyed and Malak defeated by the redeemed Revan. Even then the galaxy couldn’t rest at peace, the Sith silently returned hunting down and killing any Jedi including Master Tokare. As silently as they came they suddenly disappeared without a trace, The Exile was rumored to have defeated the last remnants of the Sith Empire on the graveyard world of Malachor V. She then disappeared into the Unknown Regions to join Revan in fighting the threat of the True Sith.
That was three hundred years ago and now the Sith have returned. We were caught off guard by their sudden appearance. They struck hard and fast taking many systems and key hyperspace lanes. As before many Jedi and Republic troops fell in battle against the Sith. Their advance seemed like it would swallow the galaxy whole eventually their advance came to a standstill, the war became a stalemate between the Republic and The Sith Empire. The Sith have offered peace and as the talks began on Alderaan; a shadow began to spread over Coruscant.
Part Two: The Shadow Strikes
Master Ward awoke with a shock, his face was drenched with sweat and his hair matted. Leaning over the side of his bed he puts his hands on his face rubbing his eyes of sleep. He thinks back to the dream he had to the previous night. “A planet consumed in flame. Black billowing smoke rising from the ground, the air was filled with ashes. Bodies lay everywhere. The Temple burning, the statues of the Great Masters lay in heaps across the Processional Way. Puddles of blood stained the great marble floors of the Main Atrium.” Ward calmed his mind of the gathering storm of fear. Standing up he walks over to the bathroom in the corner of his room. Pressing the button on the wall the door slides open. He looks at himself in the mirror, his face is rather gaunt and worn out. A large scar on his left cheek is the remnant of a duel he had with a Sith. He has grey- blue eyes, his hair is a light brown color. He takes a soft cloth from a rack next to the sink and wets it. He rubs the cloth on his face wiping the sweat from his brow. He climbs into the shower after removing his clothes and turns the hot water nozzle. The warm water runs over his body, he smiles contently. After the shower dries himself off then proceeds to put on his robes. The under tunic is a light brown color over that he puts on a light gray tunic. The tabards are darker shade of brown and made of synthetic leather. After he straps on a chest plate of made of Durasteel. On his arms he places his vambrace’s and pulls on his black gauntlets. He pulls on his rough leather boots and over those he places his Durasteel greaves. Over his chest plate, he buckles on his leather utility belt. He places two light sabers on either side of the belt. He pulls his brown robe on over his armor and exits his quarters.
Part 3: The Storm Breaks
Warm sunlight pours through the windows showing the fast cityscape beyond. The light from the sun gives everything a caramel look. The hallway is silent, he watches as other robed Jedi pass by. He turns and walks towards the Room of a Thousand Fountains. He thinks back on the dream wondering what it meant. Exiting the Temple Dormitories, he pulls his robe tighter around himself. As he enters the Main Hall leading to the Room Of A Thousand Fountains, a explosion rocks the floor. He is thrown into a nearby wall, and lays slumped against it. He shakes his head and taking his left hand he rubs it. Pulling his hand away he notices warm blood on his gauntlet. He watches as his fellow Jedi rush down the hallway with their light sabers in hand. Outside the window thousands of Sith ships and star fighters fill the air. The once peaceful sky is black from the raging fires. Explosions bloom forth from the cityscape. He gets up off of the floor and tries to reach his friend Orgus Din via the comlink on his belt. All he gets is static, he knows Master Din was at the Senate Hall before the attack. He runs towards the Main Hall and sees that already a fight has broken out between his fellow Jedi and the Sith. He ignites his two light sabers one blue the other green. Sith Troopers with their recognizable black armor notice him and rush towards his position blasters firing. He cuts the first one down then the others step over their fallen comrade continuing their pursuit. He swings his light sabers blocking the shots from their blasters and deflecting them back at the troopers. A few of them fall lifeless to the ground, large scorch marks burn brightly on their chests. More explosions rock the Temple as more troops pour into the vaulted hallways. He impales the last of the troopers through the chest he notices one of his fellow Jedi a Kel Dor falling to the ground his light saber landing a few feet away. A Sith stands over him, his blood red blade thirsty for more blood. Reaching out to the Force he lifts his right hand and the Sith goes flying into the nearest pillar. He rushes over to the Kel Dor saying “are you ok?” the Kel Dor briefly nods before summoning his light saber back to his hand. Sparks fly out of the emitter. He says “dang Sith scum” Rac hands him one of his light sabers. “Here take mine.” The Kel Dor Jedi takes it and says “thank you” then plunges back into the fight. The Atrium is a flurry of death. Sith and Jedi falling together on the marble floors. Many of the once beautiful columns are now nothing but piles of rubble. A large shuttle stands looming over the fight, smoke and fire surrounding it. He impales his light saber through the back of the nearest Sith Trooper. The man falls to the ground, then a Sith with light saber in had rushes at him. They cross blades, sweat drips down the back of his neck from the heat of the flames. The Sith noticing his concern says “This Temple will be your pyre Jedi!” He replies “not today” he jumps back then feints left, the Sith move to block his blow but then he in one swift move decapitates the Sith. The body falls like a sack to the floor. Stepping over the body he cuts down two more Sith before one manages to graze his armor. The wound cuts deep into his chest, he winces in pain then pushes the Sith away with the Force. The Sith goes flying over the railing and falls to his death below. He looks over at the Gate Master as he struggles against a formidable Sith wearing a Dark cloak and a breathing mask. As he rushes forward the Sith Lord takes notice of him and pushes him away. Rac slides across the floor and into a pillar. He almost slides over the railing but he manages to jump back over. Getting back up he sees the Sith Lord push the Gate Master through a piece of flooring dug up when the shuttle crashed. He is stabbed through the leg by one of the Sith who had snuck up on him while his gaze was on the Sith Lord. Falling to the ground he rolls over seeing the Sith standing over him saying “Now you die Jedi” He watches horrified as the Sith raises his light saber for the killing blow. He quickly activates his light saber cutting the Sith’s legs from under him. The Sith faces contorts with anguish and he howls as he falls to the ground. Rac stabs the fallen man through the chest ending his pathetic screams. He feels a ripple in the Force as the Gate Master falls to his knees with a wound through the chest. The Sith Lord stands sneering over him then the Gate Master falls flat to the ground. Sith War Droids approach the Temple from the Processional Way. Many Sith star fighters begin to target the Temple. The large Towers over the Temple begin to crumble under the bombardment. Rac seeing there is no hope of defeating the Sith rushes towards the Main Entrance. A large explosion blasts him through the ruined gate and on the other side of one of the statues of the Four Masters. He slides across the ground looking as one the statues fall to the ground. He notices the lone black figure of the Sith Lord walking smugly out of the ruined Temple. Rac’s vision blurs as he falls into the arms of unconsciousness. Sometime later he is awoken by the frantic shaking of someone saying his name “Rac… Rac wake up” he looks up into the grimy face of Master Din. He says “what happened Rac, did anyone else survive?” “I dunno I wasn’t able to see anyone else try to escape” Master Din sighs saying “the Supreme Chancellor is dead Rac.” “How could this happen?” Master Din replies “The Sith ambushed us when we were at the Senate Hall. I dueled one of the Sith Lords leading the attack and lost. I managed to escape with Lieutenant Tavus” gesturing to the pale faced man in white armor. “But it looks like we arrived to late” Rac stands up then almost collapses again but Master Din supports him. He puts his arm over Master Dins shoulder then looks down at his leg saying “I think it is broken.” Master Din looking at it says “we’ll have to have a medic look at it if we can find one in all this chaos” they both look as the Temple their home burns. Black smoke coming out of the damaged walls and windows. Ash raining down from the heavens covers their heads like snow. The statues of the Four Master lay in heaps across the Processional way. Pocked marked with blaster scorches. Rac thinks “dang I saw this coming and I did nothing. I should have told the council or at least the Gate Master so he could have prepared the Temples defenses.” Master Din looks at Rac saying “are you ok you look like you were stung by a bee” he replies “no, I am fine. Lets go” They both walk to the nearest speeder to take them away from the Temple. Rac looks over his shoulder back at the Temple watching the flames and smoke dance into the sky he silently says “how will we ever survive?” They both climb into a speeder filled with white armored clad Republic troops and watch as the Temple disappears quickly from view.
The End.
