Alright, from what I've seen, there are quite a few dog owners here on Animation Source. And while none of my pets have ever been skunks (luckily), I know dogs running into the little stinkers is rather common in the US (from what I've read, its because dogs are old world (Europe) animals and skunks are new world (the Americas), thus dogs have no natural instincts to avoid skunks, thus having a harder time learning not to chase them). I'd like to hear some of your stories about skunks, not just dogs getting skunked, other things as well. There are two reasons for this 1) even if it isn't funny to you, it may be funny to someone else and 2) skunks are my favorite animal. I have no stories to share because luckily as close to a skunk I've gotten is smelling it from a distence (and that was enough to make my eyes water). However, I'd also like to see any funny pics (weather your own drawings or ones you've come across in the public domian), which I can share if I find them.

This isn't a story about a dog encountering a skunk, but once we were having trouble with a possum coming into our house to eat our cat's food. So I put out our old live-capture trap, and a few days later I saw an animal in it. I got within three feet of the trap, and there was this skunk just looking at me. I was watching the skunk (I can't remember what I was thinking, but it might have been something like, "This is so cool,") when my mom yelled at me, "Get away from there!"
Fortunately, the skunk didn't spray me. In its position, I don't know if it could. It probably wanted to by the time I was done, though. Even though old Le Pew didn't look at all scared or agitated, Mom was taking no chances and made me unlock the trap with a ten foot pole (not an easy feat, I can assure you), and then when the skunk didn't realize it could go free, I had to try to lift the trap and tip him out (which mostly resulted in shaking the poor guy up like a sock in the clothes dryer). After he finally figured out he could escape, we watched him waddle off into the woods.

Intresting one. It doesn't nesscarally have to be of a dog and a skunk I guess. Anyway, I have a story in that case. This was long before I was born. My mom and her family lived in the country and people dumpped off a lot of animals. Well her brother brought a bunch of baby skunks to the house thinking they were kittens! His dad was MAD from what mom told me. It is funny looking back at it.

That they are but intresting fact, baby skunks can spray before they can walk! Intresting, isn't it?

Okay, so we were going somewheres, the whole family in the car. SUddenly, my mom spots an animal lying limp on the road. She shouts at my dad to stop the car, thinking it was alive. And he did stop, but right on top of the porr animal. It was dead, luckily, but a horrible scent started filling the car, making us gag. Yeah, we stopped right on top of a skunk.

Yuck! That had to really stink. Did it get on your car to?

-nods- Yeah. THe car smelled bad for about a week until we had it washed. Twice.

Seriously, My dogs never met one But he used to live in America and They Were out walking. So His dog gos barreling off into the undergrowth. The dog (Biggest Doopiest lab you've ever met) Comes out jumps all over him and that when he notices it stinks xD
