Hey guys, I know this isnt anything anyone likes to hear

We think the oldest of our 2 dogs is dying, he's been hiding from us for 2 days and earlier today we finally found him outside behind my fathers tool shed, and we had to carry him inside because he was dehydrated and tired was barely able to move on his own and we think as this point that he'll live about 2 more weeks, we're kind of hoping its not the case but we'll probably never know for sure.

So I just wanted to say what was gong on and If I am not seen on here for a bit it's because I'm caring for the old boy, I raised him from a pup and I dont this to be hard on the poor guy. But he's 17 years old and I think he had it grand here, a great home with a loving family for all of those years and I'm just glad that was the case.

Any words of support in this difficult time for my family are warmly welcomed guys.

Aww, that's sad. What type of dog is he?

Bring him to a vet and if he is dying, do what's right and put him down.

I know that's harder than just letting an animal pass on their own, but if its suffering, its only selfish to keep them around that much longer. I would know. Just a few months ago I had to put my first cat to sleep after having her since they day she was born (literally). But instead of doing what was selfish, I agreed to have her put to sleep to end her suffering.

Heck, maybe its something treatable, though. Either way, I'd defiantly bring your dog to the vet to see what's wrong either way : good or bad.

I hope your dog is okay. I agree with tibb_wolf, you should bring him to a vet. If there is a chance that your dog can be treated, the vet would know how to treat him.

Take him to the vet, and you face putting him down.

I know it sound dreadful, but it must be done.

I have to agree,If he's really that ill put him down.Often its the kindest thing,It may sound cold coming over the internet but a lot of people giving this advice have lost pets,including me.But apart from that spend time with him and make his last few days the best he's ever had.

I feel your pain and I know you probably gave them a good life. Depending on the breed it could be a problem to do with the breed like GSD's have problems with their hips.
