im not sure if theres such a topic but if there aint i start, HOW did steele just survive that massive cliff? i know its snow and all but wont there be rocks or real hard could of probly killed him or weaken him? and how he just climbed back up the cliff like nothing happened, i know in all its a cartoon and death isnt known to it but wont they of made him weak or something? instead he just walks up the hill beats balto to the marked trees and so. alot of ranting i know but just confusing me.

Movie magic saved Steele. we all know a fall from such a height would have killed or at least mortally wounded a dog, but Steele moved on like it was nothing but a paper cut. There is no solid reasoning as to how he survived and introducing logic would only complicate the situation

Psh, Steele could've died if Spielberg wanted him to xD Its not cuz it was a "family film". The Lion King came out not long before it, I'm sure they'd have no problem killing off a villain. Lets not get stupid

Anyway. A fall like that would not kill Steele.

Like Balto96 said, it was a series of short falls, and there were plenty of things to break his fall. If you fell like that, you wouldn't die either, if you didn't hit your head or anything like that. YOU would hurt yourself, because you're not a huge, muscular, strong dog like Steele is.

He was obviously built for rough terrain, so how couldn't he survive?

I think the proper question is WHY he survived. I mean obviously he's "so evil" and the "dog version of Hitler" and the "biggest scum on the planet" but hey. If he was SOOO BAD, then WHY did he survive is what I'd like to know. There were tons of times where he could've, but no. He lived.

Not necessarily. Steele wasn't the only issue Balto faced. There were other dangers to be more wary of. Like nature?

Alot of posts i see and i read them all and i know its good they didnt kill steele off cause it was more fun how he made balto journey harder but stil he just fell got up ran ahead and huh? ah well and also on the balto falling i didnt mind that was a great scene no problems how he kept geting up is cool ^^ till steele fel i was happy but just confusing how he got up with a limp i can understand then boom hes healed and running crazy o.o

Because the movie may have lost it's G rating, Though the same thing happened in the Lion King and it was rated G

Steele nearly fell to his death but hitting several ledges on the way down broke his fall and the final fall breaker was the tree in which it was just plain luck he didn't have a scratch!

I think why he survived was because death wouldn't have been karmic enough. Think about it, had Steele died, it'd have been over then a there, in an instant. Scar died after being beaten and exposed to everyone, Steele, if he'd fallen to his death at this point in the movie, not only would he not have been there to make Balto's journey more difficult, he wouldn't have had his entire facade destroyed right in front of him, sure, the sled team would've told them Steele attacked Balto and fell to his death in the process, but the town could've said he'd lost his mind and still considered him a hero. By him surviving and making it back to Nome, where he lied to the entire town and was thus revealed as a fraid who abandoned his own team to die in the blizzard, he lost everything and wasn't town hero any longer, which was what mattered to him the most.

I guess slamming and sliding on a few rocks broke his fall, there's another weird, thing after his fall he limped and then he looked fine like nothing happened.
