Well, I'm bored, and I happened to remember that two specific characters of mine are on a team with no name.

Steele's first two sons with Anna.

There is a time where these two characters leave for an unofficial year-long dog sled race (after Stunner is born, and before Melody dies), and together they lead the team. But I never once mentioned who the dogs were on the team, and now I just want them to have an identity. That's where you guys come in.

This is mostly just for fun, but hey. Why not.

About the "winners":
Well, I don't even have an idea for a fanfic yet, but if I think of one or if one of you suggest an actual plot that I like, then they'll be included in it.

Of course each winner will be given credit for their character in the fic.


What I'm looking for:

-EXPERIENCED sled dogs. Mr. Silver will want nothing but the best!

Notes:

-This'll be a mostly-male coed team, so BE SURE TO NOT ALL SEND IN FEMALES.
-They must be either huskies, malamutes, chinooks, or any kind of SLED DOG BREED. They can be a mix of up to two breeds, but THAT'S IT.
-I do not want ANY CLONES.
-I do not want ANY WOLF OR PART WOLF HYBRIDS.
-They cannot have any connection to official Balto characters or otherwise.
-They must be drawn as ADULTS.

-I will pick winners as they are entered.
-Any dogs not picked will never be official. They can exist in your galleries. But I will not write about them, nor consider them part of Iron or Cobalt's life.
-Just because you win, it doesn't mean your character is mine XD They will just be considered part of the pack and be featured in a fanfic.[/color]
-There's no time limit, unless stated otherwise.
-There will be 6 winners.

-BE PATIENT! Do what you must to be patient. Draw/write/render Iron/Cobalt and your character together or something, just be patient! This contest could go on for a while, so kick back and relax!

-You can only enter once. Updates are alright, like if you want to change their appearance, or personality or something. But that's it. If you change something, make a new post, and edit your old one so that it says nothing. And make sure it still follows the rules.

Name: Dominic
Gender: Male
Age: 3 1/4
Personality: Funny, hard working, snobby (only a tad), Hot headed, confident, kind, Honest, Loyal, enthusiastic, Dedicated/devoted, independent, careless, courageous (more soon if possible ;D)
Breed: All Husky (Siberian)

How they feel about Iron: He is jealous that Iron is a lead dog and keeps his distances and tries to keep his mouth closed. He doesn't fight with him from fear.
How they feel about Cobalt:Again, he is jealous of his place on the team. He feels he could be better than Cobalt and thinks he can do everything much better than him. He really has no harsh feelings toward him but wants his spot in the lead. He also admires and looks up to Cobalt. He doesn't express it but he tries to follow in his trakcs.
History: He grew up in a small town not to far from Nome. He has 5 sisters and only a mother, as his father was killed while racing. He has looked up to his father and never stopped dreaming about racing. He was on a local team and was the second fastest. Dominic competed with the other dogs on the team but always came in second. He was angry that he could never win and knew he could do better if given a chance. So, he ran away from his small town and ended up hungry, weak, and very tired in Nome. He was taken in by a small family Once he was restored back to full health he was accepted into the team. He was excited to be placed as a Swing Dog but disappointed because his father had been one of the Lead dogs. He has never stopped trying to become a lead dog and some times gets into fights with other members of the team. He is not an angry dog in general but will never give up his dream for anyone. He never once picks a fight with the two lead dogs mainly from fear because he is a bit young and small (not by much). He has no regrets about leaving his old home and coming here. He feels he really has a chance in Nome.
Other: He was a wheel dog on his old team (don't know if it helps.)

Gender: Male

How he feels about Iron: He feels Iron is alittle full himself and needs alittle help. He isn't afraid of Iron but he keeps his mouth shut unless he feels somthing needs to be said. Onto feels Iron shouldn't have left his family either but it was none of his buisness.

How he feels about Cobalt: He thinks Cobalt is stuck up and big headed. He doesn't like Cobalt and shows it every now and again but he tries not to fight not because he isn't a fighter but because he feels no need to fight and feels it is a waste of time.

Breed: Purebred or so he thinks hes really a mixed breed between Aussie, Husky and Basque Shepherd Dog.

Personality: Onto is a energetic yet quite dog. He is a devious and crafty dog who can get through just about anything. Onto can be quick witted and very outgoing but he also has great street smarts. Onto has a good sence of humor and is very protective of his friends. Onto is somtimes quite but he is never afraid to say his oppinon. He has a friendly feature about him and seems to get along with most dogs but sometimes his up beat attitude tends to make some feel annoyed.

Likes:Onto loves racing and training hard to push himself to the highest limits. Onto enjoys running in the rain and wrestling with friends. Onto enjoys a great race but he was raised more in the hunting department or investigating departmen. Onto like girls of course but he hasn't found the right one yet and he hopes to soon. Onto also enjoys listening to the rain or blizzard storms to keep him calm.

Dislikes: Onto hates being left out or forggoten because then he feels like no one wants him. Onto dislikes dogs who hurts both people and there own kind. Onto seems to dislike hot days and cold nights but he really dislikes when others make fun of him becuase of how he acts or looks.

History: Onto was born in a small litter of three. He was taken away from his siblings and parents at a young age so he doesn't remeber them much. He had been raised to do more then one thing. He had been bought by a hunter who taught him how to hunt wild animal in the forest of the side countries. He was then sold to a police man and used to find missing people or drug busts. His favorite job was the one he is doing now and that was racing because he loved to run and enjoyed being out in the fresh air not having to kill or smell anything but natures air. When he turned 4 he was sold to another musher in nome and used in hard races to improve his legs and mucsles but he didn't mind it and he wouldn't want to change it for anything because he has friends and a great job that he loves so hes pretty happy with his life so far.

Gender: Male
Age: 6 (born 1922- same as Steele)
Breed: Tamaskan Husky and Greenland Dog (yes they are both sled dog breeds: I had to use a site to find unique ones)
Personality: Serious, sharp, to the point, hates anyone who loafs around, hates anyone on any other team, competitive, hates to lose, will do anything to win, but is not dirty and respects rules. To him, there is nothing else like winning and he takes any loss (in a race or anything else) very hard.
Position applied for (swing dogs, team dogs, or wheel dogs): swing dog
How they feel about Iron: He's okay with Iron. He doesn't hate him and since their on the same team, is on pretty good terms but he is definitely disapproving of what had happened before he left for the extended race and often tries to make Iron into the better person that his mate wanted him to be.
How they feel about Cobalt: A little more edgy about him. For some reason, Nuke finds himself trying to compete with Cobalt the most. Nuke had known Steele and when he was very young, was beaten by him. He had taken the loss hard and since Cobalt seemed more like Steele then his brother, Nuke finds it hard to separate Cobalt from his father.
History: Nuke is one of the oldest dogs on the team, but definatly not extremely old. His racing career started when he was very young and he was a swing dog, but as he aged, he became very versatile and was easily able to switch to any position on the team, making him very valuable. However, his first time being a lead dog, he was racing against Steele and taking into account the way Steele races, Nuke lost and became VERY competative afterward. He became a very good long-distance racer and he grew more valuable... but unfortunately for him, his owner let the fame and fortune get to his head and spent all his money gambling. So when Mr. Silver came along, he was able to get Nuke for a very low price from his then-broke previous owner. But he's happy he's back on a serious team again!

Also: A quick fanfic idea: after Saba/Quinn tells Iron to become a better person and Cobalt is still mourning (over Steele Jr's death), both turn to the race to run off their shame and anger. However, along the way, the two brothers become divided over who is better off, and who really deserves the credit for being lead dog... starting a huge fight that forces the team to pick sides. Can they pull back together in time to win the race?!

Name: Mello (birthname: Denali)
Gender: Male
Age: 3-4 years
Personality: A combination of two parts amiable and one part plain devil. Mello is impulsive, independent, clever. He's also foolishly fearless and, admittedly, lazy and stubborn. Among his highest qualities is an uncanny friendliness, even to his enemies, which he believes is all just part of his charm. He also has more than his fair share of luck, which is responsible for his rather unremarkable life - one, fortunately, thus far free from harm.

How they feel about Iron: Mello knows Iron is also a favorite among the females. He feels like he is competition, and will always try to use Iron's "flaws" against him.
How they feel about Cobalt: Mello just doen't know what to do with Cobalt. He doesn't seem to have any connections with him, nor does he really want to.
History: Born and raised in another town litterally in the middle of nowhere, Mello was just another husky on a sled team. In the many races he's been in he was always placed in either the swing or team position, and a little more than half the races his team had won. His parents have both passed away about a year ago, which lead him into a state of depression before he grew slightly insane and obsessive with females. Over the year with losing his parents, Mello has calmed down considerably, although he still has a thing for the ladies.

Name: Kavik

Gender: Male

Age: 3 1/2

Breed: Alaskan Malamute/Canadian Eskimo Dog mix

Personality: Kavik is much more reserved then some of his team mates, but only when he's around strangers. When he first came to the team he showed his untrustworthy side. He would often, and still does, goes off to simply be by himself and think. But once he was settled he proved to be a very sensitive and helping dog to his team mates, often keeping the peace and backing the lead dogs up when ever it is needed. It's hard to beat him in a fight but if someone does he has great respect for them and will show true loyalty. He can be very destructive and cruel when angered. He tries to keep his cool but can easily lose it if a rookie to the team or another dog is a threat to him own team. Not to mention he hates the thought of other dogs trying to push into his personal life..

How they feel about Iron: He doesn't hate Iron, nor does he disrespect him. Because Kavik is a large and strong dog he enjoys pulling most of the weight for the team as a wheel dog, even tho he has been told that he could be leader if he wanted. So he doesn't feel that Iron can't do his job as a leader, he just thinks that it's going to take some time to pull out the real leader in him.

How they feel about Cobalt: Again he doesn't hate Cobalt because of his position as leader, he only thinks that Cobalt can continue to improve. He had a fight with Cobalt when he first joined the team, and it came out as a tie. Seance then Cobalt has had Kavik's full respect and they have grown close. Kavik often refures to Cobalt as the best friend he has on the team.

History: He was born the largest and strongest of his litter. His owner was a young man who had decided to become a sled-dog trainer. Naturally Kavik had been his owners favorite dog to work with. When he was old enough he was sold to a man who lived a few hundred miles away from Nome. During his time with his musher Kavik grew stronger then he already was. But his team leader was a jealous and unsecured scum of a dog named Malo. Well in a fit of rage he killed Kavik's young lover, the second lead dog on the team in a cruel way, just because she told him to stop abusing the new recruit that and he had always hated Kavik for being the favorite of the musher. In his own rage Kavik almost killed Malo and got the scar over his left eye. But his musher separated them and sent Halo away once he saw that he had killed his second lead dog. He had meet with Mr. Silver once when his owner went out to see if Mr. Silver would be interested in buying him. Kavik toke a liking to Mr. Silver and had no trouble getting on the team. But it toke him longer to both except and be excepted into his new team one he became the wheel dog. His fight and later friendship with Cobalt has helped to some small degree.

Personality: Very friendly and outgoing, as well as open minded, loyal, sympathetic, and funny

How they feel about Iron: Respectful, and curious and excited to meet, being as open-minded and willingness to be friendly as he is, but is otherwise pretty neutral, having not met the dog before, only having seen him a few times, and heard of him.

How they feel about Cobalt: Same as with Iron

History:Went deaf after a man stabbed him in the left ear with a sharp knife. Fortunately, his behavior and personality went unchanged, other than a fear of knives and having his injured ear touched. Trained to be a sled dog, and doesn't usually care what position or rank he is as long as he can keep running. Over the last year, however, his master has become too sick to race after falling through the ice of a lake during a trial run, and had to retire and now has to sell his sled team to pay for treatment.

Other: Developed a friendship with Star (Official character) after helping him from being bullied by a group of bigger dogs in an alleyway. Didn't work as well as planned, but in the end, both got away with out being hurt. Name is pretty protective of the smaller Klee Klai, knowing he doesn't do very well standing up for himself, rather choosing to flee. The two often get together to practice racing for fun, hang out, and work on Star's confidence.
