This is a meeting between my character Shadow and catwhohas14tails' character Pawn:

It was the beginning of the afternoon, and the sun was beating down on a grassy field, dotted with the occasional tree. Shadow, a large wolf-dog with a five-foot long, extremely fluffy tail loved these kinds of days; even though his fur was quite thick even during the summer, he loved to absorb the sun's rays on a day such as this. Today, he chose to sun himself in a tree that was lacking many of its usual flowers so that he could catch as much sun as possible. Once he had perched on a branch some five and a half feet up and found a spot with no flowers overhead, he lay on his back to let the sun warm his belly. Oddly enough, the portion of the tree that was under him was starting to bud so much that it obscured most of him from view; the only part of him that was easily spotted was his long tail, which was draping down off of the branch, its dark-red and gray fur clashing boldly with the blue sky, stopping about one and a half feet away from the ground.

In about the same area, a pink big-haired wolf with a checkerboard on her back was making her way to the nearest tree to chill at. She had to get away from her idiot-brother. What was with all of these random wolves around here any--in mid-thought Pawn was thwacked in the face by a long...furry... dangling.... thing.

"What in the..." She stares at it.

The fur on Shadow's tail was so thick that he did not notice it had hit somebody; while he was sunning himself, he had let his tail start swaying back and forth in the air below like a pendulum. Oddly enough, this had proved in the past to have an almost entrancing effect on some canines.

(by the way, I'm not sure if the fact that Shadow's tail smells and tastes like cookies is going to influence Pawn at all, so I'll leave that to you ;P )

She had no idea what possessed her to do it, but she sniffed this furry thing. Then again. And again. Why did it smell like cookies? And further why did she have this sudden impulse to eat it? This long furry thing that she had no idea what it wa--she looked up. Oh, it was a tail. A tail!? What the!?

"Ah God!" Pawn stumbled back and started rubbing her nose frantically. How sick! She just smelled a stranger's tail! And she had no idea where its been. She shouted up the tree. "Hey, buddy, why don't you leave you *bleep* hanging where no one can run into it with their FACE?"

Shadow's ears flattened against his head; lucky me, someone with a bad temper, he thought, rolling his eyes. He looked down, somewhat frustrated at how anyone could snap like that when his tail was so easily visible. He poked his head through the branches of the tree, surprising even himself at the tone of his voice; "It's easily avoidable, how could you not see it?!" he barked; "I leave my tail hanging down all the time, and you're the first one to complain about it."

Pawn smirked at this logic sarcastically. "Well, how many wolves do you know sit in a tree like a cat and have tails as long as a car?"

Shadow had to give her credit there; "Only myself, and I'm quite happy with having a tail like this, thank you very much. You could have just been more careful if you didn't want to run into it; it's pretty easy to see," he said flatly, swishing his tail through the air.

Pawn winced when his tail hit her in the face by accident. She took her paw and pushed it aside and against the tree to keep that from happening again. "I guess we all need to have self confidence." Not meaning to be sarcastic, but it probably sounds that way when she says it. "I mean I walk around like some kind of sparkledog and I still have /some/ dignity."

Shadow had no idea why she was, in his mind, changing the subject like this; he strained the end of his tail, trying to free it from her paw pinning it to the tree. "I'm not really sure how dignity works into this. And why are you acting like you think my tail is going to hurt you or something?" he asked.

Pawn figured he didn't understand the sparkledog comment and left it as such. After letting go of his tail and stepping away to get a better look at him she said, "Is it wrong for me not to want the closest thing to your butt touching me?" She snickered.

Shadow forced back a small blush; "Well, you'd be the first wolf that wanted to avoid it; as a matter of fact, most other females have the exact opposite reaction as you when it comes to my tail," he said, flicking his tail in frustration again.

Pawn rolled her eyes. Was he seriously one of /those/ kinds of people? Did it bother him or something that she wasn't into people like that? "Well, there's a first for everything now isn't there."

Shadow chuckled; he knew why she was so upset. "Listen, I'm nothing like that wacko brother of yours, if that's what you're thinking," he said, slowly getting ready to climb down from the tree.

Pawn raised an eyebrow at him. "How do you know my brother?" She stepped away from the tree to give him room to jump down without landing on her.

Shadow leapt down from the tree, surprisingly graceful for his size. "I don't know him personally, but I can hear him from almost anywhere around here, he's so crazy," he said with a chuckle. He was around a foot taller than Pawn. (I'm assuming; he's four feet tall)
