Animation Source Forums

I have reserved two domain names, which will be used for all my sites (including BS and TLKS) :

- www.animation-source.org
- www.animationsource.org

I need to choose one as the "main" name (this means that one will redirect to the other)
Which one do you prefer?

My choice would have to be,www.animationsource.org.

I prefer the hyphenated version for clarity, but JC's reasons are sound. Simplicity for guests is far more important.

But why cant it be ".com"?

I like the hyphen in the middle, makes it look cleaner and easier to read. For me atleast. In searches, animationsource.org would still come up if you missed it.

We have baltosource.timduru.org? "baltosource" not "balto-source"?

I dunno, it just looks better and is easier for people to remember.

Well, I would if I could. But it's already taken (and not used, except for adverts / spam, like many other domain names, by some companies to "steal" them and reselling them later...Try http://www.baltosource.com, for example...)

I will just insist on the "ORG". (besides, most people either use bookmarks or google...I mean, who really type the addresses manually??)

I know it's a bit long, but I just couldn't think of anything shorter that would fit and still include the "Source" word. (and not already taken...) Maybe animsource.org...I don't want to reserve too many though.


As I said, one will redirect to the other, but only one will be displayed in the URL and on search engines. (to avoid "duplicate content")

I personally like the animation-source.org one better, because it's more clear and they will be keywords for Google; although it seems that most of you like the other version better, it's more simple to type.

Well, I think we should have ".net", because we're more of a Network, rather then an Organisation, don't you think? Or maybe ".fr" and ".co.uk" for the French and English site's individual Domain?

I definitely prefer it without the hyphen. Hyphen always throws people off when you try to give them an address verbally. And I think it looks nicer.
