I really want a feature that sends you a PM when someone comments on one of yorur fan characters. I always hate missing comments, but for people like me who have (or are going to have) a lot of characters, it's too much of a hassle to check each character all the time.
Some people might find it annoying so there should be a place in the profile editing section where you can turn it on or off.
I would want it to say who made the comment, which character it was on, and have a link to the character's page.

These are just my thoughts, add on or disagree if you want.

Good idea. I like it. I've just has a comment - And I had to check all of my canids!

Well, although WolfQuest use phpBB, they have always edited the HTML/PHP code of the forum, because they know how to code phpBB without the miss-haps. However, steet I believe doesn't want to mess with the forum inscription; Because he doesn't want the forum to have bugs when phpBB update there software. On another instance, he could easily (I think) code this into the site - Making the forum coding, practically un-codable, because phpBB is pre-coded, and the coders at WolfQuest are professionals (Not saying steet isn't, but they get paid to code the forum), which is why this suggestion can become pointless.

BUT!

There is an alternative, you can use the "subscribe topic" button, so whenever someone posts in your topic, you get sent an automatic e-mail from "[email protected]" (Or, however owns the forum your on), telling you someone has posted in your topic.

@Conay: I think OP was referring to the site feature: Fan Characters.

In which case, having an automated PM system that lets you know when someone's been commenting on your character, fic, etc. is entirely possible and easy to make.

Use the "Subscribe to topic" option for e-mail alerts when someone replies to your topic, like Conay said.

Well, entirely possible on the site, yes.
Easy to make, well thank you for undermining what I do To make something clean, it's at least one or two days of work, and it's clearly not "nothing"...

But instead of PM, I think that something that would let you see if there are new comments directly on the fan chars page (or other sections) without having to check EACH character, fic etc... would be better. Otherwise, you would be crowded with PMs, and I also don't want to add so much weight to the database for this.

A "Notification" area on the site might work?

Like, you have PM's and Notifications? So that's where all Notifications go (Like, Warnings, Reports seen to, and other General Notifications).

Yeah, it doesn't have to be PM that's just the best thing I could think of. A notification section would be great too, as long as we don't have to look through each character individually. I don't know about other sections but maybe you could add a blue border when a new comment is posted on a character like there is on galleries.

I like the notification idea. Especially, if possible, on the main bar next to pm's like what Conay said. (I'm also talking about the bar on the main site, in case I confused anyone.)

The Notifcation sounds better, I have enough PM's already.
