Of course, it's only natural that some of the best cartoons in history are no longer with us. But after digging around my VHS collection one boring Friday night, I found this little treasure I'd almost forgotten over the years... Gargoyles follows the story of a group of... well... gargoyles, that turn to stone by day, but shed their hardened skin by night. For the most part, the story takes place in present day New York, and the memorable characters are named accordingly; Lexington, Broadway, Brooklyn, Bronx, Hudson, and Goliath primarily, give or take a few others that come later on in the series. Initially, a comic book, the cartoon was a movie, but the animated film was dubbed from the tv series-to-be, which aired in the mid 1990s. The co-writer of the series, Greg Weisman, also wrote for cartoon episodes in Ben 10, Kim Possible, and many others. For the tv series, there were 78 episodes divided into 3 seasons, and stopped airing in February, 1997. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on DVD, and I believe the one-box set featured below is going for roughly $78... yeah, it's THAT awesome. As it would appear, I'm not the only one whom was recently reminded of how awesome this series was, as apparently, the franchise has its own convention, The Gathering of Gargoyles, set to be stationed in LA in August of this year.

Honestly, I have never watched it as I've never been too much into "comics-like" series. But I might try one day. I remember when it used to air, though.

Honest in turn, I didn't even know it WAS made into a comic until I did a little more research on it. I also remember when it used to air, although I didn't quite follow up on the series, so I'm curious to know how the story developed beyond the movie. saske italian wolf wrote: aw I remember them 8D I watched this serie on TV when I was a child, me and my friends role played them at school! But I believe there are a few places where you can watch a few episodes... I know YouTube has a few, although I also happen to know the ordering of episodes is kinda weird too. XP

ah yeah. Gargoyles.. living stone water-spouts as I remember them .. can't wait to the get the rest of the comics this year.. *crosses fingers* I can finally see how Season 3 was supposed to end. (I'm disregard the Goliath Chronicles since that wasn't written by Co-Producer Greg Weisman and most of the episodes sucked ) *has a little Bronx Burger King toy at home *

Hmmm... I know I shouldn't be telling you this, but it's not something you don't already know anyway, but there are a lot of torrents out there you can easily search up that include all 78 episodes... although one may not work, because there's a scene with blood in it, and it only aired so many times, strictly censored, of course. I must admit, it takes A LOT of patience. It took about a month for me to get, but alas, I got it!! I don't feel up to sending the entire collection to someone, but if there was a specific episode you liked, PM me and perhaps we can work something out.
The first episodes, called the Awakening, is pretty much the movie, but contains about 15 minutes of extra content, which I thought was pretty cool.

I watched this when it was airing... It lasted longer than Card Captor Sakura and Sailor Moon did. :3 This was really good, but I got out of it around 7 or 8. I thought it aired? Guess not, and coolio! A con for Gaygoyles fans! Lol, I won't be able to make it... Well, I don't think I would even if I could. Not my thing, cons. :3 Glad you found your DVD set~
