I think that the best animated show ever deserves its own thread.

Well then, why not posting actual information instead of just starting a thread and saying "go on, talk?"
Anyway, it makes me think that a Futurama Source would be interesting...I like Futurama pretty much. Even more than the Simpsons.

Sorry about that. It was late at night and I wanted to post the thread before I forgot about it. Anyway, for those not in the know, Futurama was an animated TV series made by Simpsons creator Matt Groening (although maybe a bit more adult oriented than The Simpsons because of some obscure pop culture gags and a more subtle/sarcastic style of writing). It revolves around a pizza boy named Philip Fry ("Fry" for short) who is accidentally frozen for one thousand years while exploring a cryogenics lab where he was supposed to drop off a pizza. A thousand years pass and Fry wakes up on New Year's Eve 2999. He soon befriends a heavy drinking, chain smoking robot named Bender and a one eyed career counselor named Leela (who he soon develops an infatuation with). Leela tells Fry that the only living relative of his she can find in the data archive is his 30x great nephew, a senile old scientist in his mid hundreds. It turns out he and Bender can get a job at Fry's nephew's company: an interplanetary package delivery service called Planet Express. Since Leela is lonely and hates her current job, she also joins and is appointed as captain of the delivery ship, being the most intelligent of the three. Secondary characters include: Dr. Zoidberg, a lobster-like doctor with little knowledge of human anatomy and a just about equal amount of friends. Hermes, a Jamaican sales manager and former limbo champion. Amy, a human who's rich family lives on mars. Zapp Brannigan, the captain of the military starship Nimbus with an unsurpassed ego and little idea of what he's ever doing. Kif Kroker, Zapp's nervous, reluctant assistant who falls in love with Amy later in the series. Futurama premiered on March 28, 1999 on Fox and had its last episode on August 10, 2003. However, because of high DVD sales and high ratings for reruns on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim", Futurama has garnered a sizable fanbase and has spawned four direct to DVD movies (the first appearing in 2007 and the last, this February) which have appeared on Comedy Central. All four seasons of Futurama are now available on DVD and reruns can be caught on Comedy Central at 9:00pm (Eastern Time).

I love Futurama! It makes me laugh every time I watch it. xD Fry, Leela and Bender are definately my favourite characters. Only trouble I have with it is not being able to do proper fan-art. >: I can't draw human character's well enough. (or human styled)

Suprisingly, I'm also a Futurama fan. I hate most of Adult Swim's programing, and adult cartoons in general, but Futurama was enjoyable to me. Probably because the episodes had decent plots and unlike other shows of this type, in my opinion, were more realistic, well in the way the characters behave I mean. They actually held true to their personilities. And cussing was mercifully low, the 'a' and 'd' words were the most common and it didn't use them every time they needed a cheap laugh. It comes on too late for me to watch now and with the other programing on Adult Swim, I don't watch long enough to find out when its on when I want to. Anyway, I did like the show...particularally how Fry became his own grandfather, that was funny.

JerseyCaptain wrote: Yes, I have seen the movies. And I admit, I do like the Simpsons movie. And I have always liked the Futurama ones (the ones I have seen). But as far as I am concerned, the Simpsons is generally vacuous and inane. But I will say one thing for it...it's about a zillion times better than Family Guy, which I find as irritating as fingernails being scratched across a blackboard. I agree about the Family Guy thing, I enjoy Futurama because it isn't insanely random and doesn't sink to using cussing, sexual refrences, and other such stuff for cheap laughs like, in my opinion, Family Guy does. The characters don't make any sense in that show to me. I'm respectful of those that like Family Guy, but I personally hate it. But I enjoy Futurama for its writing, well develped characters, and the fact it keeps other episodes plots in mind, in the episodes of Family Guy I saw, once something happened in one episode, it was never mentioned again.
