Well here in Canada or well mostly my area I have noticed this ever since the movie Juno or several months after most likely,
that a lot of teens are getting pregnant!... it's crazy.. for like the past year or 2 every mall i've been too, and everywhere i looked there was a young looking person who was pregnant :S ... i mean.. is this a new craze ? or just the fact that Juno caused teenagers to willingly want and have children and then put it up for adoption ....
i'm not sure if it's happening in your area or country but it deffinately is here and to me personally... it's a bit over the edge and i think the movie gave off the wrong impression or image to what they were truely telling teenagers... the producers were trying to tell teens that it's bad to have sex and such and protect yourselves during sex, but instead teenagers are just getting pregnant and doing foolish things.
please don't get me wrong or flame me but that's what i'm seeing everytime i go to the mall and it's very disapointing seeing such young people ruin their lives to have a kid and foolishly ruin their baby's life if they aren't with their parents of course but still... it's a bit of a shame teenagers are that much willing to have a child..

There is and always will be teen pregnancy. A mediocre movie is not responsible for anything. Deal with it.

Well... Theres always been under-age pregnancies, all over the world, but I believe mainly in the UK, so it's not the film.

Anyway, RangingBalto: Don't quote the main post!

Also, i'm not sure if it's wrong to talk about it, as long as we act like grown-ups whilst in discussion.

I don't count pregnancy as "sex talk".
It's a perfectly natural thing, many mothers have young kids when they get pregnant and it's not like they hide it from the younger child, plus, Jenna had puppies in WQ - just because you don't see her stomach whilst she's pregnant doesn't mean anything, just means they skipped to the story.

In regards to the topic, teen pregnancy was happening long before Juno was released, where do you think they got the inspiration for the film?

Obviously you can't BLAME teen pregnancy on a movie, but I do have to say (even though I liked the movie itself, for the most part) Juno and even movies like Knocked Up seem to glorify teen or unplanned pregnancies... and I don't agree w/ that sentiment at all. Young girls head into motherhood expecting to have a blast, enjoy their little 'bundle of joy', have a happily ever after, etc., and it's absolute bull. Have you heard about those girls in Gloucester, MA (white-trash-apalooza & very close to where I live) who made a -pact- to all get pregnant together last year or so? Frightening -.- I'm 16. I'd love to get married young and have a few kids - but not right this second. Let me at the very LEAST finish high school first, and college if I so choose (which I'm still debating) :P

Like I said, can't blame the movies... but they don't help.

To be honest, this has been happening ever since the youth rebellion of the 60s(hippies) in which they betrayed traditional family values such as marriage and others. It lead to an increase in divorce, drug abuse and in this case pregnacy

If a teenager wants to be stupid and get themselves pregnant, let them. It's no fault of a movie, it's their own stupidity. If they can't be smart enough to use their brain and think "Hm. What might be the repercussions of doing this?" they aren't getting one ounce of my sympathy. Teen pregnancy has been around forever. A movie didn't cause it - lack of brains did.

Maybe that sounds harsh, but really now. Teen pregnancy is stupid. I know someone who is my age, has horribly paying job that WANTED to get pregnant. Can you say "STUPID!!!". -.-

No matter what, though, there's always going to be teen pregnancy. Even if the movies stop. Because as long as you have teens, you are going to have stupid ones that think it's cool to have a kid when they know nothing about how to take care of one or how much work goes into it. Then again... some adults are horrible parents as well...

My age will go unknown, but even at my age, I know I cant do that. But you are right, after Juno it went up. I like the movie and I own it. It's a movie that's heart touching and sweet, and what I think happened was that the movie made sex and being pregnant look like no big deal, and that might have sparked an intrest. That;s all i can say, this site has kids playing on it, and that what I would like to say belongs in an adult chat room. But yes, that is my anwser.

sorry i haven't been on here for a while..

but i'm not blaming the movie, i just notice it a whole lot more ever since the movie has come out.. like a whole frenzie of young girls getting pregnant.. i know it may not be the movie's/directors' faults but lol i'm just saying that a few months after Juno came out i've been noticing a lot more teen pregnancies in my view.

edit* - as for sex talk... i'm not talking about sex, and like i said on my title 14yrs+... simple as that and by that age you should have had a sex ed class in w.e grd you get it in... and it's strictly about teenage girls having a baby grow inside them and such i'm not going in hard core detail. As for those who coming in saying it's sex talk and i don't like the topic and you're too young to understand it... well thats why my title again says 14yrs+ :) that's it that's all.

as for another to add, i'm not sayign anyone who comes in here will get pregnant soon lol it's just a simple topic.

I haven't noticed any pregant girls, but one of my friends moved and went to a different school. She's terrified of her new school, she said every other girl is pregnant and every other person is doing drugs. She told me that while crying so I must say I believe her. My school's going down hill quickly as well because of drugs (we've had about three arrests since the beginning of this year). I've heard girls talking about doing stuff with their boyfriends, so now I'm getting worried.

Hey, no way! Me too. Well, not so much pregnant, but drugs are going around and it's disgusting. And WEAPONS are a biggie, too. I reported this one kid (he is just crying out for help, though) for bringing in a pocket knife, AFTER he threatened to kill 3 people on the bus! It's a disturbing world, really...

*nods* Yup, could it be that the drugs (getting high & drinking ect.) is leading girls to getting pregnant?
The saddest part is that one of the girls who got arrested was my best friend from kindergarden to eighth grade. I'd stopped hanging out with her when she'd started hanging out with the 'cool kids' and forgot about me. I found out that she'd been arrested at the begining of this year for doing an illegal drug, she was also expelled and has to be homeschooled now.
