Not to bash your ideas or anything, but...you did not change much. At least what you had to say about your changing it (i don't recall you saying that you'd make the dialogue less cheesy, that would've been a plus) didn't make enough change to even make it worth it.
1.) Balto already found out enough about his wolf side. That was one of the points to the first movie, so he doesn't need to be running around finding wolves for no reason. Why would HE have to see the white wolf a second time? The legend of the white wolf spirit comes to those who have been lost and need guidance in snow storms. Its not a dream messenger xD
2.) It would've helped prove that "your version" is better... if you gave a better suggestion for the title. All you did was point out that you'd do it differently. For example, "Balto: Born to be Wild" is a different title. Doesn't make it better in the least. Just takes more time to say. "Wolf Quest", tho excruciatingly dull, did have to do with the movie: It was a quest and it had wolves in it. What more can you say.
3.) What kind of dreams would Balto have? What you said was not very different at all. "He has two dreams". Why? Do we have to know his dreams at all? Are they even relevant to the plot? How? In WQ, Balto didn't need to have his dreams or his insomnia. It was useless. He may as well have been a stump. What makes his dreams different in your version?
4.) Aleu leaves for the wooded area? That's not very different either. And there's snow in Alaska, why wouldn't you find wolves where snow is? xD You're less likely to find wolves on the coast.
5.) And the white wolf keeping its mysterious elements from the first movie is a plus too. None of that "THE white wolf is BALTO'S MOMMY" crap.
6.) It wouldn't be up to you if you chose not to have songs in it. None of us would want songs in a movie that didn't need them. But the directors don't get to call the shots alot of the time. The head-honcho of the movie department has the say in it and if he wants the entire movie to be one huge musical, he's going to find someone who'll do make it one huge musical.
***What most people do if they have to use songs is tie it in with whats going on. Maybe have Aleu sing to herself (i mean wasn't she supposedly a good singer anyway? *snicker*) a song that Jenna sang to her. It'd add some mother/daughter elements in there too, instead of the empty "Oh yeah, I forgot, Jenna exists" feeling WQ let on. Or even have Balto sing a song to himself that his mother or father sang to him. It'd add a little something to his past. Heck, that'd even be a better idea, cuz then maybe the wolf pack they encounter knows the song and that's Balto and Aleu's connection to the pack. Maybe have a little song play for Jenna showing she's worried about them.
7.) Aleu and Balto telling the "evil wolf leader" off is okay (even tho they technically did that before), but why leave it at that? Have their "mission" be to save the pack from the "evil wolf leader" who's been leading them under an iron fist. And why not use this as an opportunity to introduce some new characters? Have them help the ever-obedient beta wolf win the alpha position. Cuz it makes no sense making an inexperienced yearling lead an entire pack of wolves to their doom after having just saved them xD
8.) "Spiritual wolfs elements". Like...?
9.) Yay, flashbacks, that's a plus. And what WQ needed, indeed. Probably best not to be specific in this case, but Balto deserves some knowledge on his past at this point.
10.) How about adding some SPECIFIC conflict in there? Like Aleu falls through the ice and Balto has to save her, but he's all freakin' out cuz he fell through the ice in the first movie.
(if anyone's going to grab anyone's interest, for the love of God don't show characters swimming under water -.- Then we the watchers automatically know they're okay and it doesn't even leave us wondering how the situation's going to turn out. Spielberg did an awesome job at this cuz you only see Balto under the ice not moving and trying to sip any little bit of air pockets he can find. Then you don't see him after that. Well what happened? Did he die? You don't know till moments later) Or even have them encounter hunters that actually prove to be a threat to them, unlike in WQ. Have someone actually get shot. No, they don't have to DIE, but c'mon. Don Bluth always said that kids can handle anything as long as there's a happy ending, have a character get hurt or something, man.
Time to come up with this: 7 minutes
Basically, what you had to say made WQ sound more
complex. You need to be specific if you want to convince anyone important that your idea is better.
Not only that but you should work on writing a script before you do any voice work. You pause WAY too much and speak monotone. If you fix that, you could make something as dumb as a pile of dirt sound interesting.
Just a word to the wise. (
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) Not only that, but your stuff wouldn't be 8 minutes long with 4 minutes of information in them xD
Oh, and if your idea consisted of this being an animated film, the animation /does/ kind of matter, contrary to popular belief. As an aspiring director, how about having the people who work under you make sure they can animate a simple running cycle first?

(Not an insult to you, but to WQ)
