"Mama?"Yelped a small rare stripped hyena pup as she peaked out into the open Savaannha. "Mama?!"She whimpered as she started to run towards the path she had last seen her mother walk. She followed the foot prints and found a larger body,unlikes her's,was a hyena with a spotted coat breathing raidly. "Yena,my dear run before they get you to" The pup named Yena let many tears fall "Mama!Don't leave me"She cried out,but then a large vehicle came up,her mother had stopped breathing and two men came out. "Look here,your alone huh?Come here girl"Said one bending down "Get some meat from the cooler would you?"She the man that begged for Yena to come. Soon Yena was taken away from her wild life and in a zoo. She was in the small clan of Hyenas living there. Though she was the only stripped one,she still was exepted but not really with them. Yena hung out by the river that kept her from the otehr exbits,beside them was the wolves and the otehr side was the cheetahs. Sometimes she would be able to go into a larger area where everyone was able to see everyone else without borders. After a while Yena grew a few years and started to talk with one male. He was a bit older and very handsome,most female hyenas hated their age either to old or to young for him,but Yena wasn't. She liked him...no loved him and then heard the one thing she never wanted to hear.Her crush was gone one day,Yena finds out that his best friend,a snake, and him were talking about escape of the zoo,the snake not wanting to go. Yena teamed up with a few other animals wanting their freedom and help find her crush.Will Yena and her friends be able to find Yena's crush and be free? Or just taken back to the zoo?

Personality: Kindhearted, friendly, very protective of his friends, he's a little shy but a great friend. He hates being called a 'stinky skunk' or other such insults, which will cause him to kick up a real stink. Fiercely protective of Yena, who she treats rather motherly.
History: A little skunk that lived in the zoo before Yena. She originally ended up spraying Yena due to a misunderstanding, to prank Yena, another, mean animal (see below) told Yena skunks were stinky and mean, thus resulting in Yena thinking that about her. They're now friends, however, due to having simular personailties, shyness and few friends among them. Sally also protects Yena from meaner zoo animals fiercely and has taken up an unoffical role as Yena's foster mother.

Personality: mean, cruel, sadistic, a bully, hates Yena, and Hyenas for that matter with a passion due to Hyena's getting him sent to the zoo in the first place. He's brave enough when against someone smaller than him but if a bigger animal shows up, he's a coward.
History: An old Black Panther who was captured due to some Hyena's he was bullying tricking him. Because of this, the Hyenas in the zoo face the brunt of his insults. He tricked Yena into insulting Sally and getting sprayed, though once Sally realized it, Jarret got a face full of musk himself.

I know you wanted mostly small animals but Jarret is meant to serve a bully/antagonist role, so I felt he should be bigger than most of the main characters. If needed, he can serve as a main antagonist by wanting to stop the heroes from making it out or just a minor annoyence.

Yena sat in the middle of the habbit provided by the zoo,she was on the favored rock,which had the most sun. A small kid had dropped their huge funny pairs of glasses,so she decided to put them on. Some people passed by,but know it was the hotest time of the day,so many were resting in colder areas. She took the bug pink glasses and looked up "Hm,you think they would be swarming around here today"She said "Human flies,ugh,always buzzing around the habbit,makes me wonder"

Yena's ears lifted up,it was time for everyone ot be set free in the selected habbits that the zoo had. It was the only time everyone could see each other. She padded into the large area,seeing some other animals join in the crowds. Most everyone lived in peace,lions would be fed to their bellies were full,and any prey would be able to be protected by someone else. Yena soon spoted Sally,she smiled but gave a grim look as she smelt such a stink. "Little kid been teasing?"She asked her,covering her nose with her paw.
