Hey guys, another rant by Conay.

It has come to my attention people are STILL coming up and going "THWAT APRIL FOOLS JOKE WAS NOT FUNNY!", PLEAAAAAAAAAASE, give it a rest, I KNOW the Joke itself wasn't funny, but the funny part was, people's reactions, example:

Lux: We're gonna ban yooh!
Member 1: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Member 2: I'm gonna leave if this is a joke!
Lux: Bye, see you when you come back!

I mean, it's getting abit tiring now, it's April 5th, FOUR DAYS after the joke, would people just give it a rest and accept the fact Lux Punked them?

I thought the April Fool's Prank was downright hilarious.

Yes, it was amusing, the joke for me.
But I know others did not like it.
If they whinned about it, not being able to post for one day, they shouldn't be on the internet. If they cannot handle being off of the computer or a forum for a day or two.

Well, if people didn't like it then that's their right to have that opinion.

It was lose-lose for us mods. Steet was on vacation on April 1st so the original idea we had for it - something FAR better than just making up a story about site disk space - was not do-able.
So something had to be thought up on the spot and Lux was faster than any of us and put together that story - then we all joined in and ended up with people taking it like they did.

However, if we decided after we heard Steet wasn't around "Oh well, no joke this year" then we'd STILL have people complaining "BS is nothing like it used to be, there used to be an april fools joke every year, now there's nothing. BS sucks now."

So there you go.
Personally, I thought it WAS pretty funny. In the grand scheme of things, probably one of the lamest april fools jokes ever but I don't think we did too bad on the spot and hey, at least we livened up your day a bit.

Plus, there's always next year. ;D

I can't wait to see what new prank you guys will pull.

In the end, I personally found the reactions to be more amusing then the joke it's self.

Hopefully next year's joke will be even more of a kick to the funny bone. XD

I hope next year's April Fools joke is way funnier than this years. This years wasn't all that funny. I'm sorry, flame me if you wish! Seriously, how is it funny. Ooh you locked the board. HA. Ha. Ha. The beta version thing was better.

Now that I look back on it, I find it funny. What I REALLY find funny is I counter pranked one of the mods, I won't say who to protect them from embearessment, into cracking and telling me it was a prank by threatening to leave the site if it turned out to be a prank. That was my prank and it worked well so I got a little payback and some fun out of it.

You do me and others a great disrespect by presenting the other side (those who did not find it funny) of this joke in such a pathetic manner, and by making it seem that what those types of people said is all there is to the other side. In all seriousness, the prank was not funny. If they had scared people into thinking the site was going down, that's one thing. But locking most active topics is a different thing, and far more severe.

Many people enjoy this forum and come here to have a good time by talking with others, be it by discussing various things about Balto or The Lion King, or roleplaying with one another. Locking most of the active topics was not a very wise move, as it effectively inhibited the above from taking place, and left a lot of people very angry, including myself. People don't come here to be the blunt of a bad joke. A good natured April Fool's joke would have been fine, but this was taken way too far. I have seen a forum joke before, and that entailed the text of the forum being changed to a different language, or one that was made up. Posts were still comprehensible, though. And for a short time it provided an interesting and humorous atmosphere for the users. The staff of this forum, however, obviously did not think of the irritation this would cause, or they simply didn't care.

Before I get the "go get a life" or the equally feeble "It's just one day, go do something productive" argument, let me highlight that my distaste for this whole instance is based on principle. While the prank only lasted around twenty-four hours, I must ask why would the staff of a community forum do this to its members? People don't have an obligation to come here, so don't test their will in such a way.

I do not believe doing the community a dis-service such as that is rational at all, even if it happens to be a lame holiday. Children pull these kinds of pranks, because they either do not care or are ignorant to the negative repercussions that a prank might be. Someone who is older and knows better can both craft a more amusing and less irritating prank.

And for the record, I was hardly "punked". As soon as I remembered it was April 1st, I was skeptical about the whole situation. The prank itself, never mind its stupidity, was poorly devised, and contained many loopholes that even the most gullible of people could latch onto.

You also have good points. I honestly think the mods did go a bit too far with the shutting down the forum thing. Yeah, we did start to get wise to what they were doing, which is why they went into blocking the posts, that's what a mod told me, but on that side of things, it really was overboard to try to keep their joke going. Reguardless of what they did, people would've gotten wise. Had they not blocked the threads, no one would've gotten furious at them and maybe more people would've been amused. Yes, I did find the prank somewhat funny, but I do, and did say this the whole time, the blocking the threads made people mad and was unessary. I told a mod everyone had found out and they were getting mad but they refused to do anything because they'd agreed with each other not to unlock them until the next day, yes I understand they had an agreement but that's its their job to put the site first. All in all, it could've been funny to everyone if the mods hadn't gone too far, that's that in my mind.

Sorry if I sound like I'm changing sides but I 'm not, I did find it funny but I did think they went overboard with the locking the forums. Also, we need to keep in mind, the mods did apologize for this, be it not as serious as I felt it needed to be but still, they did apologize.

I thought it was hilarious. For the people who flipped out and had a hissy fit for not being able to post on their oh so beloved forums for a day... really now. ONE DAY and you throw a fit? Good luck in real life... lol. And the whole "Well BS is the only place I can talk to my friends!!!111" Too bad - find another way.

Loosen up some people! I mean, my GOD. It's a joke - laugh at it.

I guess we were the only two people who found the April fool's Prank to be hilarious,I mean,I could barely stop laughing at it.

I don't think you get the points some people are trying to make. Yes, there are other things they can do but this is a very popular site and a lot of people come here, by disrupting that, naturally people are angry. And in all honest, I do feel you're being disrespectful to those people by saying they 'seriously need help' for being mad, that's exactly the reason I posted a more formal place to discuss this where I specifically wanted everyone to respect other peoples opinions and the people who enjoyed the prank aren't respecting those who didn't very well, which is just a short way of saying what Jersey Captain just said. If you'd say it like 'I think people are overracting' and then give your reasons then I wouldn't be mad, its how you're stating the opinion that has me upset because I feel you're disrespecting people. Yes, I respect your opinion that we're overracting but would it be too much to ask that you be respectful of our thoughts that you're going overboard? I mean I'd expect that disrespect from some members on this site but coming from a mod makes me mad. I'm not mad because it was a bad joke or anything, its a matter of respect, which both sides of this issue have not been, with a few exceptions, been giving each other, which can only lead to a flame war and more agravation.

That said, yes, you make a decent point but Ghost-Unit made a lot of good points, some people aren't mad because you locked the forums for a day, some people are mad because they simply thought it wasn't funny, I don't expect you to apologize to those people, just please try to understand not everyone is mad because of the same thing. Me for esample was annoyed because I felt locking the forums was unnessary for the prank and ruined it as all it did was annoy the people who had caught on from the start. I realize you guys felt you had to do something because we were catching on but at the start, it was funny, 'Oh no! The sites closing down!....Wait a minute! Its April Fools Day! Good one! ', that's a generilization but it shows my point. This joke depended on shock value, we got suprised, we realize its a joke, we can laugh about it. Locking the forums ofr the day, in my honest opinion which I hope you'll respect, just made the joke annoying. Only doing it for an hour or two would've been fine but by about 6 or so, everyone realized it was a prank and got sick and tired of it, which is where we ran into problems. I respect you mods and others feel it was funny, I admit, some peoples posts were comical from your standpoint, but please try to respect and look at it from the other people's point of view, not just your own.
