Well, I've had this plot thought up for a while. I tried it in a Roleplay, but it didn't work, so heres what i wrote. Well, the prologue anyways, even though I've written more. I'll post it later.

Prologue

Nothing disturbed the peaceful night. Everything was undisturbed, and not a sound was to be heard. Suddenly, the ringing of a bell split the silence. The silence and peacefulness was no more, as a fire-engine raced down the streets, its sirens blaring. By the time it arrived at its destination, the fire was blazing. It was a pet shop. Inside, many animals were cowering and yelping in fear, some were already weak from the heat. The Orange flames licked at the metal cages, trying to get to the animals inside. The firemen raced in, grabbing a whole heap of cages before running out of the pet shop. They saved about fifty animals, but this pet shop was huge, with Two-hundred or more animals. The other animals were left to their doom.

But as they cowered in their cages, one puppy, one normal puppy, was suddenly changed. For it was on that night that a most peculiar occurrence would take place, something between a mystery and a miracle. A light exploded out of nowhere, it was bright, and it engulfed this small puppy. For a moment, the other animals could see nothing, hear nothing, smell nothing. There was only light, light and themselves. Then that moment was over, and they were back in the fire. In the time it took for this to happen, the fire had increased in size, and all remaining hope in any of the animals minds diminished into fear and death, for to them, that was all that seemed to loom ahead in their short-lived lives.

Yet it was then, when death seemed to loom in every corner, that nothing short of a miracle seemed to happen. Whilst the other animals had been waiting fearfully for death, the puppy that had been changed was setting about on a mission of her own. She had quietly jumped out of her cage, her astounding calmness soothing those around her. Without even stopping to look at the crackling flames, she leaped up onto part of the wooden frame that supported the building. It came tumbling down, over the fire, out from the shop, away from death. She was safe; she could easily slip away now. But she did not, for she knew there was something she must do first.

With a speed that not many a puppy had ever achieved, she ran to the back door of the pet shop. To her dismay, it was bolted shut. She tried time and time again to get in, but to no avail. Her attempts failed, she could not get in. Her fury was aroused by this, her determination to fulfill her purpose blazed. It was then that she saw the hole. It was rather small, but it was there. She scratched at this hole in the wall furiously, making it large enough for herself. She slipped in, and then she was inside. No flames had taken residence in this part of the shop; it was a safe haven, a way out. But it didn’t connect to the main room, so the animals inside were trapped.

Yet still the puppy did not give up; a puppy she was indeed, but that fact was not in her mind as she suddenly formed an idea. A fridge teetered slightly; one of its feet had been replaced with a book, which had been knocked away. It looked like it would be easy enough to push over. But looks can be deceiving. The puppy was once again failing. Then the floor suddenly shifted, the puppy almost yipped in surprise. This was good, it allowed the fridge to teeter over more, enough it seemed, for her to push it over. But it was also bad. This meant that the building was on the verge of falling down, crushing every creature inside it.

With one last attempt, the puppy managed to push the fridge over. The fridge fell, breaking easily through the burnt walls. A howl signaled to the animals inside to get out, their cages had started melting in the flames, and the cheap, plastic locks on their cages had melted long ago in the heat. Every cat and dog inside suddenly looked up. In almost perfect unison, as if in a trance, they rose to their feet. Then they were outside, running, howling, yelping, meowing. The firemen collected most of them, putting them in cages taking them to safety. The puppy’s job was done; she had saved them. Yet something drew her back to the shop. That something was strong, a feeling, not one like that that told her to save the animals in the pet shop, but something else. She did not understand, but she re-entered the burning pet shop.

It was inside that she found a small brown bundle of fur, about he own size. Smoke inhalation had made it weak, and it had collapsed while all the others escaped. The building let out an alarming creak, and it was at that moment that she knew it was about to fall down. Grabbing the bundle of fu by its scruff, she ran for her life. She almost got killed that night. She had risked her life for this puppy; why? She did not know. For all the many, many things she knew, this was something she did not.
Yet still she saved the puppy, who managed to stumble to his feet. It was then, with the small brown puppy leaning against her, that she slipped off into the shadows. For she had been touched by the light.
