This has probably been ranted about many times before but really.
An anime character IS NOT your boyfriend. I am not a very kind person when it comes to dillusional people who say they're dating people who only exist in an animated world. And it's IMPOSSIBLE to reason with them!
Here's a typical conversation.
A: hi everyone, i'm dating sasuke!
B: what!? that's so stupid i'm dating sasuke! we're engaged!
Me: Neither of you are dating him because he's not real.
A: yes he is! he's my boyfriend!
B: he's real and he's my boyfriend!

So on. It's impossible to reason with them. Then they'll randomly throw in ANY Japanese word they know.

A: sasuke is too real desu!!!!
B: baka!! he's my boyfriend you baka desu ka!
Me: Stop abusing the Japanese language.
A: but im japanese!

Yet in their profile there's a picture of them and no part of them WHATSOEVER is Japanese or any type of Asian at all.

Me: Even if you were that would give you no right to overuse the language like that. Japanese words don't belong in English sentences.
A: shut up! you're just jealous because im dating sasuke desu ka you baka nanodesu!!
B: ugh!! you guys are so totally bakas! im dating sasuke and he is too real nanodesu! ITAI! genki desu ka!
Me: ... Do you even know what " genki desu ka " means?
B: yes!!

And they use completely random phrases that make no sense WHATSO-EVER.

Me: Yeah. Sure you do.
Sane person: Lol, what's happening here?
Me: Some people think they're dating an anime character.
Sane person: LOL. I think I'm just gonna sit back and watch the show.
A: what show!?
Me: The one your so called animated boyfriend is from.
B: he's real desu ka!!!! desu desu desu desu!
Me: Er. You guys are crazy. Bye.

So, in the end I have a headache and we have made it nowhere.

Well, I'm sure this happens on Naruto fansites, and would be annoying, but I have yet to see it happen here...

Ugh, I hate this. And this is coming from someone who has taken 5 or 6 years of Japanese and has Japanese as a major lined up for college next year.

Yeah, I have to admit, this is extremely irritating.

In relation to this, it also annoys me when members try to pretend they're a celebrity. xD It's quite pathetic, but it's pretty annoying when they won't shut up about it. -_-" Actually, I think a while ago there was a member pretending they were (or knew, can't remember) Hannah Montana xD...And it was quite bothersome xD

But, you know, all you gotta do is ignore them...and if threats or insults arise in the conversation despite your attempts to ignore the...thing, report them.

Oh, thank you! I just got it from an "Adoptable" site or something like it (the picture is a link). But I thought it looked pretty cool XD and was different from all the4 other Chicken Smoothie signatures.

While it may be a huge surprise to some, I agree with JC 100%

I can see silly immature sorts of 'arguments' (not really 'arguments' persay but just overt silliness) of 'Oh mah gawd, this character is so mine" and so forth - offline and only for sheer entertainment value (i,e - not being taken seriously)... But in all utter honesty, it doesn't bode well for development... I've seen cases of people who believe that they're actively married to video game characters - who are adults. Not to mention those who think that fictitious events are real-life events or believe characters are alive... (Case in point, some Twilight fans in Forks, WA call the chief of police there Charlie Swan (a character from Twilight)... Even though his name is Mike Powell).

As for the language 'abuse', it's annoying - but it's globally very common. Any of the major languages in the world can and will be 'abused' by any other language. In any case, sometimes the language 'abuse' leads into a genuine interest in really learning the language. Or hopefully they just grow out of it. It's just something humanity thinks is "cool". Trust me, it's all over the globe.

JC, like I said, I do agree with you. You'd be surprised on how many things I actually agree with you. Shocking, ain't it?

The whole thing annoys me completly. Belive me, this is the equivillant of "mates" only people are sad enough to use animated charcters. What amuses me, is that when I was about, I don't know, four years old? I fancied an animated character from a Spyro game. About when I was , i thought 'Oh, it's not real'. Looking back I laugh at this, but there are still people much older than me sitting theres arguing over internet about who is dating Kiba, Naruto or whatever.

As for the random use of the Japenese language:

In my opinion, Japenese is a cool language. If I wasn't learning german I'd love to learn the language ( despite the many, many years it would probably take me XD) I know the odd pharse, but nothing that you could even use in a conversation. If a topic is Japenese, I'll say a few lines that I know to my friends, however I would never use rude/offensive words though. If I friend asks what it means I would tell them, then admit that I really don't know the language xD I really only learn the words so that when I hear them I can understand things more easily without reading any subtitles.

Ah, I've seen this happen.
A lot with Twilight, but that's somewhat diffrent. This is so anoyying, and....Stuiped maybe?
