The word "n00b" is not nice, just a small for your info. Because you wouldn't like being called like that either.
Nobody likes to be called anything, but this is what happens. Example: No one would like to be called a spammer, but if they are posting tons of useless messages it will eventually happen. It's the same in everyday life, nobody would like to be called horrible, for example, but if they are doing things to displease people it will happen.
There’s a difference between a 'new member' and 'N00b', or 'noob'. People in general can't be flamed for being new, because everyone has to be new once. Sure, they may post a few stupid messages but with a little guidance from more experienced members they can be helped. A 'Noob' is a newish person who, despite being shown how things work and such, arrogantly continue they way they do things themselves. The percentage of people, if someone were to come on to the forums being new would warmly welcome and treat them as a 'New member' not a 'n00b'. In my other post I was referring to the more clueless new-comers. But, if these people are told what they are doing wrongs, it separates the mature from the immature. The mature half would begin to take hint and learn to do things right. The other half may continue for a while but, like I said, they're new. They'll eventually get there
