I'm basically fully agreed with Togo.
It's not laziness, just a simple and easy way to differenciate (sp?) Aleu from her siblings. Animating is a very long and difficult process and it's hard work to colour in a load of different colours and designs on each character.

Plus there's the fact actual dogs often have pups mostly the same colour - case in point; My german shepherd. Her mother was a black and tan German Shepherd, her father was a pure white one.
Her mother had 9 puppies, 8 were black and tan coloured and one was all black.

Its not so much their design thats the problem (all of them technically had a bit of their father in them anyway, because all of the pups had his leg markings). Cuz fur color changes when pups get older. I think the real problem is not being able to tell them apart because their designs are inconsistent throughout the entire thing. I mean obviously there wasn't THAT much of a difference in each pup's design, but they couldn't even keep track of which pup was which xD Or rather which pup was adopted at what time.

It's realistic. My girlfriend just had a litter of 6 dogs, and they all looked exact the same. Ok, they where purebreed, but the fact that they are similar is not a blooper or laziness. Also, why should have they put effort in making detailed characters and looks for each pup, when their screentime is maybe 5 minutes?

I'm not saying they should. Heck my dog has spots on her back and her entire face is covered in brown, but her pups had hardly any color on them because they looked like their father xD I didn't have a problem with her design, I'm just annoyed you couldn't tell the pups apart because they didn't keep track (like when the red-Aleu twin disappeared, then reappeared in the box. Its obviously one that looks different than the others, and yet they still weren't consistent with where he or she was).

The only way it would've been really bad is if they made Aleu white and if there was no explanation as to why xD

Well, I agree with everyone so far on the fact that Alue being the only brown pup out of red is suppossed to show her uniquness. But even though this part might not be lazy, it doesn't mean that the animators were. XD, have you seen all the screwed up pictures? I'm sure it's difficult to be an animator, but haw hard is it to remember simple markings? Maybe all the other pups being red started out as a result of laziness, but it did work with the theme and fit in with the rest of the movie.
