This is a WARNING to everyone. If you've noticed, I just locked a roleplay because it was not abiding by the length rules. The current rule here is:



This is rule number one and yet you guys seem to have clearly missed it! I'm giving all of the roleplays in this section a few days at most to shape up and start fulfilling the length requirement in EVERY post (not just one here and there. The rule says minimum for a reason.) If by the time I come around to check the roleplays again in a few days there are still topics that are not complying with this extremely easy rule, I will begin locking them. At that time, you can pm me and petition to have them unlocked by proving to me that you will post AT LEAST the minimum requirement, if not more in the future. If I unlock your topic and you all fall back into the routine of not following the rules again, it will be locked again without warning and you there will be no discussion about unlocking it again.

This is fair warning for you guys. I've even turned this post (from the first replied to topic at the time) into an announcement so I don't have to spam the boards like I did last time because NO ONE listens. If you don't comply, this time, it's your fault. I'm making this as clear as possible within the bounds of the rules. Spread the word to your friends if you don't think they'll pay attention. It's time to start following the rules once and for all and I'm not backing down so easily like I have before. This is a forum, not a shout box. You have ample time to come up with a decent reply that follows the rules. Heck, even typing this up only took maybe 5 minutes. You should be able to take two minutes and come up with at least something that follows the rules.

This is the final time I will say this before action is taken. And, as I said before, if you don't pay attention or don't listen, then it's ultimately YOUR fault. It's Saturday now, I'm giving you until Wednesday to get things shaped up. DON'T ignore this one. Oh, and turn your sigs off (unless they ONLY contain words), if you haven't already done so. That'll be the next thing I start locking for.

Um, and if is it a short RP?

A short rp? I'm failing to see how that would matter. Even if it's a short rp, you should still be able to get at least the minimum post. And, to tell you the truth, an rp is as long as you make it. None have to be short or long.

I wasn't aware of that rule. And I don't want to seem impolite or disrepectful, but why is the length such a big deal anyway?

It wastes space in the database when you have some 300 pages in a roleplay of just this in every post:

Katty walked over to Joe. "Sup?" she said.

That, and this isn't the roleplay shout box, where you can get away with that. When you roleplay on a forum, you have ample time to think up a post that isn't going to be just a waste of space and that other people can actually reply to and keep the story moving. And if you can't, then it might be time to end the roleplay. That, and roleplay isn't meant to be a sentence. This rule has been in existence for several years, it just hasn't been enforced well, if at all sometimes. It's about time we all start following this rule, along with the no sig rule.

You're free to disagree with me, but that's how I see it. I'm just tired of ignoring it and hoping/thinking, "Well, maybe they'll just suddenly remember the rule and start obeying it. Maybe they'll decide to actually try if I don't force it on them," and then being disappointed every time. That approach hasn't worked for over a year. *shrug*

I agree. Rules should be followed, and it's more than fair to ask people to make good use of the resources they're getting for free. It's no different than asking guests to take off their shoes when they come in the house.
But to be fair to those on the recieving end, maybe some advice should be given to them on how to enhance their posts so they can more easily meet the expectations. I confess I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of what resources may already exist on that, but then, neither would they. Is it reasonable to suggest enlightening them?

Indeed, it's very reasonable. Actually, that's exactly the reason that there are two role-playing guides up on the forums. One is an announcement and one is just a sticky. One Lux and I collaborated on, to make sure we didn't miss anything (posted in January by me, I think), and one Maya did. And I've asked repeatedly if people didn't understand or had questions. No one has posted any questions though, and everyone seems to have understood.

That, or they just ignored it like they've done every other time I've made an announcement with advice or about following the rules. It's a little depressing for me T.T

That I'll be a little more lenient on. Right now I'm just talking about the rps open to the public. When it's just you and one other person, yes it can be hard thinking up a reply sometimes, so I'll give a little leeway to that.
