Hey, guys! I have a question for you all: Why did Steele hate Balto from the start? I dont know why... did Steele hold a grudge against Balto when they were puppies? I don't know...

Yeah, but... Didn't Steele in the beginning of the movie say: "Get outta my way,Lobo!" before Balto beat him? This is why I made this topic.

We wouldn't have a reason for an antagonist? That would be a hard question for an "Ask Steele" topic, that would be hard to anwser.

I think it was jealiousy over Jenna, as well as prejudiced against wolf dogs. Though apparently Steele just didn't get that all dogs are descended from wolves, or maybe he did and that's were his attude towards them came from. He may of thought 'Well if dogs came from wolves, dogs must be better than they are'. And there is irony in Steele's attude, if he'd just accepted Balto's help and let him lead them back to Nome, he would've been a hero like the rest of the mail team, Balto would've gotten more fame but Steele would've gotten more than he'd had before, which was exactly what Steele wanted to begin with, fame. So in other words, Steele's attude cost him the things he wanted most, fame.

Because he's the villain. it's what he's there for. duh. But in more seriousness, he was pretty much a dog racist. he didn't like Balto because he was half wolf. very similar reasons exist in real life with humans. It made Steele very realistic, and also made him a really believable and fantastic villain. other reasons have already been said. xD
