Poetry is a really fun form of art to get into. I believe it was this past summer that I really started some with poetry, but mine's mostly 'darker'. There are a few happy ones here and there, though. It's all free verse because I fail at rhyming. [Each title is the link that will direct you to the page it is on on deviantART].
What's LifeIs life just one big lie,
Something we'll never figure out?
Or is it a game,
One that we've long the the manual to?
Is life something we can get to know,
Then soon forget it all in a night?
Some people spend all their days,
Merely wishing to be able to understand.
While other think they know,
But in reality never do.
How do we think we can learn,
What we are never meant to know?
What makes us think we can understand,
The small things meant for imagination?
What is life,
But a big mystery?

Carpe DiemNever go a day,
Without saying what you want.
Never go a day,
Just sitting by the wall.
Never go a day,
Simply watching it go by.
Never go a day,
Leaving things unsaid.
Never go a day,
Without doing something fun.
Never go a day,
Trying to hide yourself.
Never go a day,
Without thinking of another.
Never go a day,
Without living it to its fullest.

How ComeHow can the world go from being so perfect,
To being so horribly not?
How can these things that hang in the balance,
Go so astray at the drop of a dime?
How come we’re left to wonder,
What is right and what is wrong?
How come things always happen,
That we just can’t seem to understand?
How can people go on,
When they think all hope is lost?
How can the endless cycle,
Go so uninterrupted?
How come we keep trying,
Without knowing what we want?
How come all these thoughts,
Drift unbroken through our heads?
How come we’re afraid of the answers,
We know we’ll one day learn?

The WorldThere are times when the world is senseless.
Things always seem to happen,
That we don’t understand.
Then something comes into your life,
That makes it better again.
Time all most seems to stop,
Ticking by ever so slowly.
Things don’t make sense a lot of times,
Then they finally do.
The good and the bad almost equal out.
The bad is still there,
Though being highly repressed.
Things start to make sense,
Then the world balances out.

Sick of ItI'm sick of trying to be perfect,
I'm sick of trying to fit in.
I'm sick of fighting battles,
I know I'll never win.
I'm sick of all the failures,
I'm sick of all the lies.
I'm sick of feeling emotions,
That I want to die.
I'm sick of things getting better,
To only get much worse.
I'm sick of the way I'm trying,
And failing again and again.
I'm sick of trying to make you see,
That there’s more than meets the eye.
I'm sick of the way you count me out,
When I’ve only just begun.
I'm sick of the way that no one cares,
Then knowing it’s a lie.
I'm sick of the way you don’t understand,
That you think I'm just some screw up.
I'm sick of the way you pressure me,
To be what only you want.
I'm sick of the way you make me feel,
Like nothing I do counts.
I'm sick of trying to better myself,
Only to once more fail.
I'm sick of not knowing,
Why you aren’t here now.
I'm sick of being left to wonder,
How things will soon play out.
I'm sick of sitting here toughing it out,
One long day at a time.
I'm sick of playing this game,
With no clear end in sight.
I'm sick of all the storm clouds,
How they can’t just go away.
Most of all I'm sick.
Of not being true to myself.

HopesI always get my hopes up,
To have them shattered down.
They lay in broken shards before me,
Waiting to be picked back up.
Things sometimes go as planned,
But more than often not.
The edges have gotten so sharp,
Causing the pain each time to grow.
Rebuilding hope is easy,
But rebuilding a heart is not.
Will things finally go right for once?
Or is my life set on repeat?
It’s time again to try once more,
And pray it all works out.

Something RealTake me away from here,
Give me something real.
The days are growing grayer,
As time just passes on.
It’s time for something different,
It’s time for a brand new song.
All that I wish for,
Seems so out of reach.
Someone write me a storybook,
With an ending new and real.

ChangeHow soon things seemed to change,
For the better or for the worse.
People grew together,
The same they grew apart.
The winds of change seemed blowing now,
But the direction was unknown.
Only one thing was sure about it,
And that’s that it was happening.
Change was sweeping over them,
Seemingly slowly,
Yet surely all the way.
As the days went by and by,
The effects came ever clearer.
Things weren’t like they had been,
And probably never would be again.

UntitledPaws flying over the frozen ground,
A bright light guiding us home.
We push ourselves as hard we can,
Through the many snow banks.
It’s seemed like a long while now,
Since we’ve all been home.
But we know there’s something waiting for us,
A warm bed,
A hero’s welcome.
We’ve been gone for weeks,
But it’s felt like months.
So far away from the ones we love,
The thought of seeing them again kept us going.
The closer we get,
The brighter the light becomes.
It’s warm glow bringing us nearer.
Now we’re there,
The crowd all around us.
We finally made it.
We are finally home.

Little ThingsThere are thousands of things,
That makes life what it is.
There are both large things and small things,
And then those things between.
But which actually matters the most?
Some say it's the big things,
While some say it's them all.
But it's really the small things all in all.
At times it may not seem like a lot,
Though if you stop and think,
They do add up to great amounts.
Little things are often overlooked,
But if you slow down enough,
You'll see how beautiful they truly are.
Be it a smile or a simple hug,
A little goes a long way.

The OneAs I lie awake at night,
Yours is the last face I see.
When I dream away at night,
You’re always there.
When at daybreak I wake up,
My thoughts drift towards you first.
Every time I think of you,
My heart starts beating faster.
Are you really the one I need?
Or is my heart leading me astray?
Can you be the one to make me whole?
Show me one little way you care.
That my feelings aren’t in vain.
Be the one to build me up,
And do not tear me down.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
TomorrowIf you died tomorrow,
What do you think I’d do?
Would I cry for you and pine for you?
Or wish back time itself?
If I died tomorrow,
What do you think you’d do?
Remember me, both good and bad?
And how we were like glue?
Tomorrow soon will come and go,
And even if it ends up not,
We’ll always have each other here,
Even if that’s all we got.

Every TimeEvery time something goes right,
It all comes crashing down.
The pieces lay scattered,
All across the ground.
I'm stuck watching my life
Pass me slowly by.
Will one day I break this cycle?
Or am I doomed to repeat it?
How can everything go so right?
Then go so horribly wrong?
Is it something we can’t control?
Or has it been me all along?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Bleed ItDigging slowly deeper,
Trying to bleed the venom out.
How can these things happen,
Why does it hurt so much?
Slowly the venom leaves,
One small drip at a time.
But all though it's leaving the body,
It still infects the heart.
You can take it all away,
And some will still remain.
Nothing can truly fix,
What humans can never control.
In a world that's filled with darkness,
You must fight to find the light.
Only then will you be able,
To truly bleed it out.

Untitled IILet these tears fall,
Then make them stop.
Take back the bad,
And lock it far away.
Lift this evil curse,
No more to exist.
Allow the lightness,
To return and stay.
Fight the looming darkness,
So I can again be free.
Love me for who I am,
And not who you want me to be.
