BACKGROUND:
Project: DOACC was started on January 4th, and is a novelization of a Role-Play created by Swords of the Wolves and Dr. Rex. As fate would dictate, the original RP thread was accidentally deleted, but the events are still remembered for storyline purposes, though may be somewhat "tweaked." Much effort has been put into this, and I sincerely hope it will spark interest, as I'm already breaking my own traditions by releasing information about a project before its completion. Nonetheless, I feel quite proud of it and I hope everyone would enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

SUMMARY:
In the diverse land of Ekleron, humans and anthros have lived side-by-side for a great many number of generations. Humans, in their never-ending quest for knowledge and discovery, built great cities and spurred complex technological advancements to make Ekleron much like the world we see here. And anthros, tenaciously adhering to the natural laws of the land, developed keen senses and in their loyalty to nature, were gifted with the power of controlling the elements. While every race and species may have their own traditions and cultures, through the years, they've learned to adapt to one another and build a mutual understanding on the foundations of companionship and trust. For many eons, the land prospered.

But as time wore on, this trust and this companionship began to tarnish with the stains of racism and jealousy. Tensions began to rise between anthros and Humans, disguised under a mask of false appearances and false motives. Some believed a war was inevitable. But the majority believed these were minor differences that could be easily moderated, and that for the most part, the natures of Man and Animal should be left to govern themselves.

In the years that would follow, relations continued to wither until invisible, social boundaries were set up to secularize each race. Each kept to their own sides, unmindful -- oblivious -- to the actions of the other. Little did the anthros know, a sinister group had been silently amassing on the Human side, on a devious plan to take Ekleron for themselves and subordinate all anthros under them.

Our story takes place in the midst of this crisis, in the half-human-half-anthro- populated city of Desdon. Dolphin anthro, Selgar, sees the signs and tries to expose the racist group and their actions before it's too late. Together with his wolverine friend, Arcus, they try to snuff out this dangerous spark, lest it spreads into the fires of war, but what they do instead is accelerate their plans for worldwide human domination. Soon, Selgar and Arcus are fighting not to save all of Ekleron, but just their city of Desdon from infiltration.

Hope dwindles dangerously low for the two anthros who struggle only to save their hometown -- and each other -- from being taken over, but can they do it alone? Can they hold out just long enough for help to arrive, or will the city, and all anthros in it, genuflect to this corporate deathlock?

Find out in Defense of a Crippled City.

EXTRAS/"DID YOU KNOW?":
- Did you know that the city featured in the promo pic is really Moscow? (Original picture) Photoshop = PWNZORS.
- Don't be fooled by the wolf-like eyes in the background; it's really a mountain lion's. (Original picture)
- Despite the story not being released yet, its sequel is already being written in the Role-Play, Rites of Passage. Check it out to discover more about the world of Ekleron and its fascinating inhabitants.

- Lux, the Janitor is currently working on a mini-soundtrack to go along with Project: DOACC, and has served as a great inspiration to its development. Listen to the tracks!!

- IMPORTANT: I just want to remind my fabulous readers that the posting of chapters on here is only temporary; once the story is finished, I will be taking them down. However, upon the project's completion, anyone who asks will receive a short survey regarding the effectiveness of what they've read. Fill out the survey and turn in to me to receive a free downloadable and printable version of the full-fledged story!!
-Arcus and Selgar Character Sketches uploaded!!
- It might be funny to know, but in order to fully capture the mood and sincerity of certain parts of the story, the parts of other stories and movies were closely studied and analyzed to go into the production of Project: DOACC. Such stories included the animated movies "Gargoyles," "Land Before Time," and "TMNT." Stories that helped to play a role in Project: DOACC were Stephen King's "The Shining," Patricia Wrede's "Enchanted Forest Chronicles," and Robert Asprin's "Dragon's Wild."
- The character Arcus was based in appearance and character off of Wolf O'Donnell from Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Sweetness!

Man, this takes me back to when it started... I feel about as hyped-up about this now as I did when the RP started! Woo-hoo!

And FYI to everyone else: ROP is basically a sequel, but it takes place at the same time as the events in DOACC.

Again, man, this is freaking AWESOME! I can't wait to see the preview! ^^

Thanks, Swords!! ^^ I'm really excited to be giving out the previews as well. Can't wait to see the reactions from everyone.

And yes. Rites of Passage takes place at the same time as Defense of a Crippled City, but is generally considered the sequel because all -- err most (??) -- of the characters you see in ROP won't be featured in DOACC. ;D

How so very... EPIC.
Man, I'm so looking forward to finally fill the large gap that I have about DOACC.

Well, after a little speculation, I decided that the first three pages really wasn't enough to even scratch the surface of this story. I know, I know, you can all be sad now. Therefore, I'll be posting the ENTIRE FIRST CHAPTER!! And now, here's your first sneak peak at what to expect, ladies and gentlemen, from Defense of a Crippled City...

[Chapter 01 taken down. Thank you for your interest.]

What an extra and super special treat.
I remember this from the RP. Interesting how you chose to have it in first person with Selgar; wasn't expecting that but I like.

I can't wait for more!

I'm liking this so far, Suka! Like Rusty said, interesting choice as to telling it in first person from Selgar's POV. He makes a better narrator than I originally thought, and that's great!

Keep it up, dude! ^^

I approve. I love how you catch the interest of the reader right away and your choice of perspective, and especially how you pull it off.

I'd like to read more (and soon D:).

*puts stamp of approval on chapter 1*

Thank you all for your comments. :] It really is a lot more fun to be writing it in Selgar's point of view as well, but even I have to admit, it can be a bit of a problem describing events that are happening without him around. Even so, it's finding my way around the little things that can make this project so much fun. ^^

Thank you again everyone, and stay tuned!! :D

IMPORTANT:

It's my intention to get this story out on its deadline date, but I must be honest with you when I say that there were certain factors that I failed to take into consideration when choosing March 22 [I've decided on that day for release]. First off, I have JUST ABOUT the entire story finished -- only it's in longhand. It might take me a couple more days to transcribe this all to a word document, and format it accordingly.

Since I put next to no thought on how to share this with you all, I'm contemplating posting just a couple chapters a week starting on March 22. I can't give a final length yet, but I promise to do my best in posting as much of it as I can.

For any of you who are interested, please tell me if this is acceptable or not. I feel greatly ashamed at having to work past my set deadline, and as a little consolation, I'll be giving those who are the full, downloadable version of the story upon its completion [certain restrictions apply. :]. I hope it does you each well, because I plan on deleting my posts containing the chapters once I finish.

I would also like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and inspiration. It's been a great relief to me to see some feedback and inspired projects that have come up as a result of Project: DOACC.

Concept art will also be available upon its release, so please stay tuned. I dont have much, but eh... just a few sketches. XD

Thank you all again!!

Sounds great!

In addition, I will be composing music for some of the scenes in the novel! (Yeah, you read right, Dr. Rex!)

Looking forward to more chapters <3

Well, I hope you all got the memo, so I'll be doing this in chunks at a time. If anyone has a problem with it, or if you'd like to have the whole story posted by a certain date, please let me know!!
