Dæmons, they're all fiction, all fantasy, right? Wrong. Although it is little known to many, there are people who can see their dæmons - and so can other people. These people must make sure nobody sees their dæmons, or hide away if their dæmon has settled in a large form. These people are called Shæmors, because they shame the family's who have them. Dæmons are kept a secret, because those who have them have dust - And the power to unlock new universes, and magic. Those who have dæmons, sometimes, if caught by authorities, are severed. From then on, they are a lifeless shell, mostly only sitting down with a blank look and saying their dæmons name desperately. To severe a dæmon and their human, they take them to a machine - a cage-like contraption, which has two halves, and a metal door closes between the human and dæmon, causing them to be severed. Those who have dæmons greatly fear this, but most of them do not know why it happens - they don't know about dust being the key to power, or magic. Not many shæmors know that others like them exist, but when they all start meeting up, they have had enough of it all - they want to be left alone, like normal people, and mostly to find out why they are being hunted out like this - why they are hated, and why they must hide their whole life, in fear of losing their dæmon, their soul.

Dæmons


Fiest, an explanation on dæmon's, if you don't know anything about them, or need to jog your memory.

What are dæmons?

Daemons are a persons soul. They are physical, and are in the form of animals. They are usually the opposite gender to their human, and usually have an uncommon name, like Pantalaimon, or Stelmaria, but go by nicknames, like Pan, or Stel. Other people do not usually talk to others Dæmons, because their dæmons are a part of the person, so they rather talk to the person. They may talk to the dæmon if it voices its opinion, or they decide to, but mostly dæmons talk to their humans, and sometimes other dæmons. Dæmons have genders, but do not fall in love or reproduce. A dæmon may fall in love with another dæmon if their humans are deeply in love, and this means they have revealed their souls to each other. A dæmons personality is not always like that of its humans - in fact, quite often it is the opposite, or differs very much to the humans. If the dæmon is hurt, or killed the human will be hurt, or killed, and visa verca, meaning that if a human is hurt or killed, so the dæmon will be as well.You cannot hide anything from you dæmon, they know everything you know. They cannot necessarily read your thoughts, but they can sense how you are feeling. Dæmons change the form they are in often, but settle on one animal form when their human is around 13-17. Sometimes a dæmon will change, but mostly stay in one form, this does not necessarily mean it will settle in this form - although it is most likely to.

The animal it settles as represents a persons personality, which can be changed when they are young, which is why their dæmon does not settle until around 13-17.

For example:
A wolf (Which represents me, I think :3) Is shy when it first meets someone, but longs to be in a group of others, small or large, it varies from person to person. Wolves are social, not solitary animals, really.

A mouse Is shy, but can be fierce when it comes to protecting those it loves. Just because someone has a mouse or small dæmon does not mean they are weak, they could be very tough, and even outgoing.


Dust

Please read this, and everything from here- onwards. I know, I know, its a lot, but you need to understand dust!



what is dust??

well, its kind of hard to explain. To put it simply, dust is intelligence, and self-awareness, therefore, in a way, dust is life. It is what separates humans from animals that do not, cannot, think. Not in a self-aware way. They may remember, They may think about what they need to survive, they may listen and respond in a way they have been taught - but they cannot come up with ideas, like buildings, made of brick, or lights, electronic ones. There are other races of thinking things in other worlds, but, this roleplay will be based mainly in our own world. Dust cannot be seen by the human eye, without taking a photo, and using a special lense. [Put at the top of your post; Will the pain never end?]Dust is attracted to humans with dæmons, but not very much to children whose dæmons have not settled. It is even less attracted to people without dæmons. It holds the key to magic, and other worlds. It settles on those who have settled dæmons, and is attracted to humans, and things humans make, but it does not settle on people without dæmons. The children with non-settled dæmons still have dust settle on them, but not much. Those who have dust settle on them, if they learn how, can control and manipulate it, to make it into magic.

Also note, all worlds and people have dæmons, but those who don't have dæmons in this story, and in every other world, have them only in their mind- as their conscious, like a voice at the back of their mind, but most people don't notice it.

Remember - If a human gets hurt, the dæmon will get hurt too, and if a dæmon gets hurt, so the human will be too. the same goes for the human or dæmon getting killed.
No invincible humans/dæmons.
None of the Shæmors should know about dust, unless they are evil and don't tell the others because they are going to betray them.

Press Alt+0230 (On the numeral pad, or whatever its called, the one to you right) Alt + 145 should also work, but i find pressing the four takes you back a page, so not a good idea. Alt + 0198 and Alt + 146 get you Æ. (Again, Alt + 146 Takes you back a page, its the 4 that does it)

Dæmon is pronounced demon, although i prefer to pronounce it daymon

History: She was, from birth, hidden away. when she was old enough, at the age of seven, she was sent away, her parents last words to her were "You are a Shæmon, you are a shame to our family, and if caught you will be left as nothing but a lifeless shell. Leave now, Tasha, never come back, and take Ramiro with you" She has been wandering around with Ramiro ever since.
Personality: She is bright and happy to people she knows, but quiet and reserved to those she does not know. She has a temped when it comes to those she cares about being hurt, and always likes to be right, often arguing if she thinks she is right, since she is stubborn.

History: He didn't liked his parents at all, they hated him, but didn't seperated him from world. He lived a normal life, only with super abusive parents. One day he ran away...
Personality: Sneaky, ussually quiet, like hiding something( Don't worry, he knows nothing about Dust). He is brave, strong, but the mostly annoying part of him... Is his headstrong personality. He is independant, will do what he wants, and when he wants. Also, he can be quite friendly, but rarely.

Appearance:As cougar: Brown coat. All her fur has different tones, it's darker at back, tail tuft and ears. The lighter part is paws, her belly, muzzle.
Personality: Very similar to Jake, only she's even sneaker, but acts friendly towards others. But remember, she's only acting!
Animals it mostly changes into: Cougar, Anaconda, Eagle.

Appearance: She ahs dark auburn hair that is cut to her chin. Her eyes are a gray/hazel color and she is built small but she's still tall and stronger and swifter than she appears.
History: Aliyah was abused by her father and she was very angry wit him and her mother. Her mother never did anythign to stop him and never called the police or anything. Finally, Aliyah rana way from home when she was fourteen and she's been running ever since.
Personality: She's a little reserved, not eager to tell strangers everythign aobut her. Aliyah is very brave and headstrong. Once her mind is set on something no one can talk her out of it, not even Arieaken. She's kind and hates it when she can't help around.

Appearance: He is a brilliant copper/red color with stunning brown eyes.
Personality: Arie is very gentle with those younger than him. He's a fierce fighter but prefers to be able to be peaceful and kind to all. However, his temper is great and unstoppable when unleashed.
Animals it mostly changes into: coyote, wolf, lion, celot

Appearance: She has dark brown hair that flows past her shoulders and dark brown eyes. She has a slim build, is 114 lbs. and is 6' 1", and very few people mistake her for a super model.
History: She lived under her guardians away from her parents ever since she was three. She was cared for like any other normal child, but she became a runaway at age eleven. She's been traveling the nation since then, meeting up with new people who were just like her. Now she's settle down...and she's been taking a liking to guns and other arms.
Personality: She's mysterious in so many ways. One day she's there, and another minute passes by before you know that she's even gone. She never wants to waste her time, so she's always sleek, sly, and a very smooth talker...especially with the guys. (;))
Crush: Nothing yet
Other: She's seen wearing a black dragon necklace with a red jade in the very middle.

Gender: Female (pretty rare)

Main Animal: Cat, sometimes a fox
Appearance: Her fur is a very bright orange, and her eyes are a dark green, making her feel very secretive indeed. *purrs* She also has really sharp claws, so you better watch out.
Personality: She's just like Kira; sly and cunning. She's also like a life coach to her, trying to make her life a bit more interesting for the both of them.
Animals it mostly changes into: None (^^)

Hehe, where do you think i got the idea from? Its set in a universe like ours. Or it could be ours, but i have only read some of the first book, so i don't know what our universe is supposed to be like according to the golden compass. So, i suppose it is a golden compass roleplay.

Well Well Well... I hate to sound like I'm steppng over any boundries, but I must say this is one of the most well made(not only with the plot but also the grammar, THANK YOU for having grammar) role-plays I've spotted on here in a while. And not to mention the fact I was in the mood for some daemons <3



Human -
Name: Beau Johnson.
Gender: Male.
Age: Almost 17.
Appearance: Beau's a fairly tall, well-built guy. He wears his hair somewhat long, and always flipped back over his shoulders, and he has kind chocolate-brown eyes that would be the windows to his soul, if his soul wasn't already standing beside him. He likes to wear clothes for function, rather then form, and most everything in his wardrobe is one size up from what he needs; he likes to be comfy.
History: He was born into a strict, rich, family, who were rather disgusted that they had given birth to a boy like him. Not long after he was born he and his daemon had been sent off, with a surprisingly generous amount of money, to a rather poor family that kept it's head down. He was raised by this family, but a few years ago they started getting some unsettling attention, and Beau had a hunch that it was because of him and his daemon. Shortly after that, he ran away.
Personality: Beau is actually a rather shy guy, although he'll open up once he gets to know you. He's pretty intellectual, and if you give him access to enough materials he can make quite the collection of helpful trinkets, although he doesn't give himself credit for his brains and is quite modest.
Crush: None.

Dæmon -
Name: Thanatos.
Gender: Male.
Nickname: Than.
Settled/Not settled: Not quite settled.
Main Animal: Raven.
Appearance: He's a rather large daemon, in all of his forms, and in the few he still switches to he has a white spot somewhere on his body.
Personality: Than is almost the opposite of his human in personality. He's got a spit-fire temper and will voice his oppinion on anything and everything directed at Beau. He's generally a jerk, but he will lighten up on people he sees worthy, which is when Beau is less meek around them. If he's not running his jaw, then he's usually on Beau's shoulder giving you a cold glare.
Animals it mostly changes into: Although he's not settled, he doesn't transform much. If he does, it's only for function; he'll turn into a small mouse or maybe a moth if he should be hiding, and will turn into quite the mean cat if you piss him off or threaten Beau.

Tasha stood on the peak of one of the smaller mountains outside the city of Rashon, the wind ruffled her hair as she stood looking longingly at the city. She knew she could not go into the city, she could not go into any city or town, but she could especially not go into this city, because it was where a lot of the higher authorities lived.
If they caught her, she could only imagine what would happen. It was also those authorities who enforced and made this rule, meaning that they would be especially strict on searching their city for her, or others like her, if there were any.

With a sigh she turned away, but Ramiro remained staring at the city. Like her, he longed to meet others like them, who had dæmons. "Come on, Ramiro, its no use staring, it won't change anything." she said. "But I wish we could. I hate those authorities, what gives them the right to exile us from all cities, what gives them the right to separate us from the rest of the world, or otherwise be punished for being with others?!" He snarled bitterly.

Tasha sighed once again, and replied "Because that's what they do, and that's why we stay out here. Away from the city. We aren't separated from the world, just other humans."
Ramiro just shook his head, and continued looking out over the city, watching the city lights go on as the sun went down, and the light got less and less.

Tasha pulled a blanket out of the backpack on her back, and lay down on the cold, hard ground with it. It was a cold night, and the blanket was tattered and old, with holes all through it. It would not keep her warm, but she kept it anyway.

Aliyah raced down the street, her heart pounding. She tightened the grip on her backpack and sped alogn the side walk. "Run Arie! Don't look back! Just keep going!" She quickened her pace as she heard a police car pull up. Ugh! What did they want?

"What do they want from us?" she demanded to Arieaken.
"Me!" he snarled, quickened his pace. teh joy of so much running was clearly sparkling in his eyes, although he too understood the seriousness of the situation. "The corner, the corner!" Aliyah spun around a corner and pressed herself to teh wall, Arie staying at her ankles. The police ran right past, though the car hesitated.
"Please, please, please," she murmured softly to herself. The coyote pressed his fur agaisnt her legs as the car slowly drove past. Shaking, Aliyah slid down the wall into a sitting position. Her Jean shorts could not protect her from the cold creeping up on them so Arie pressed hsi fur to her legs even more. She ran a hand through his fur gently, the bandana on her hair slowly sliding off. With the other hand, she straightened it. "Come on, we have to go." She leapt up and they both raced through the alley. This alley led outside the city. They'd be out soon enough.

Beau sighed, wandering through the mountains, trying to ignore the cold wind as it curled around his body. "Anywhere good to rest?" he asked, looking up above himself to where a large pitch black raven circled 'rond.
"I'm lookin, Beau," Thanatos called back down at the boy, "When I find somewhere, I'll let you; I thought we agreed on that?" As usual, he sounded bitter, even around his human, but that was just the way he was. Silence followed the human and dæmon for a while, broken only by the steady flapping sweep of Than's wings.
On the ground, Beau shivered slightly in a... 'borrowed' fleece-lined jacket, hugging himself as he shifted the backpack he always carried around. In it, where what he considered bare essentials: a blanket, a few spare changes of clothes, some unparishable foods, and about 1,000 dollars. You never knew where you could find something to spend some money on.
"Hey, Beau, I think I see a good spot," Than called down after a while, and a relieved Beau looked up. "Really?" he asked, perking up; in the hours they'd been walking, he'd been getting cold, and hungry, and tired, and by this time he wanted nothing more then to curl up and sleep.
"Yeah, follow me," Without another word, Than angled himself into a steep turn and glided off, quite unwittingly, in the direction of the site another dæmon/shæmor pair was settling down for the night. As the well-developed habit went, Beau jogged after his daemon as the soul led him to a place where they could both rest until tomorrow's light. There was only a slight hitch in this plan today though.

Thanatos flared out his wings, stopping his flight, and squaked loudly in alarm as he entered the clearing and spotted not one unexpected creature, but two. His wings flailed about in the air for a moment and he lost a few feet of altitude as he looked at the human girl and the wolf(?). Not exactly what he expected to find there now was it?
"What is it, Than?" Beau called, dashing the last few feet to catch up with his floundering dæmon, and reaching up into the air to pull it into his arms. That was when /he/ noticed the two other beings in his presence, and yelped loudly, jumping back a foot or so. "Who're you?" he blurted.


Wowww... I'm sorry if I suck in any way. I haven't done an advanced RP in at least 3 months so... Yeah.

Jake padded through streets, not even noticing his dæmon. Taniana stopped, and looked at Jake. He felt that she wasn't here, and turned around.
"What?" He asked, "C'mon. "
"Jake, I'am really tired of wandering around! I want to have a nap!" She yelled softly.
Jake continued walking," Me either." He murmured.
" Than why we don't stop?"
" I have no idea."
Tan raised her eyebrow. She looked at Jake again, and bit her leg very hardly. She was strong enough and struggled, but he wasn't so strong.
"Ouch! Why did you did that?" He asked.
"Because you're annoying!" She yelled at him. Jake sat down on the very cold ground and murmured quietly,
"You're even more."
Tan padded away. Jake stood up and followed her. He sensed that something is wrong.
"What's wrong Tan?"
"I think that...Oh nevermind. "
Jake sighed. He sat down again with relief. He turned to his dæmon, Tan, who was looking somewhere. Nowhere.
" Why do I feel that there is a lot of other people, who had to ran away..." Jake said.
Taniana looked at him. Her brownish fur turned in to dark feathers her head turned all white, and her huge claws were even more noticeable. She asked,
"Can i look around?"
"Sure. But I'll go with you."
Tan smiled, and flew away.

Kira was in the downtown area just looking around, a shotgun hidden in the back of her pants. "You sense anything suspicious?" she asked her cat demon, Sarahfina. "Anything strange at all? Beacause I know I do." Kira had the right to trust in her own instincts. She was used to this after all, and ever since Sarah had settled into her proper form, she's gotten a sweet taste of what it was really like to be out in the real world.

Sarahfina quietly sniffed around whild staying hidden besides Kira. "Nope," was the reply. "Nothing at all." She then took in one more whiff before adding. "But I do think I sense others nearby." She saw Kira cock an eyebrow, signaling that she should explain...once again. "I meant others with demons...like you!" She could tell that really put a spark in Kira's interests. They both smirked at each other before continuing on their little walk towards the town's square.

Personality:Distrusts strangers but not their demons, always thinks rationally and usually makes the right decisions when it comes to loyalties, never hides anything from Sara and helps her with her problems, acts older than he really is and is but likes to play around with freinds' demons
