Well there is a sending system, even though you don't see it...
In fact the only difference is that projects and contests are not validated by mods before being put onto the site.
There are pros and cons about having to validate everything :
Pros :
- Much "cleaner" section
Cons :
- Requires more mods,
- Slows down a lot the entries sent, sometimes visitors get angry that their creations have not been validated for a few days
- Problems when the users update their entries : should we check them again? (Especially for contests and projects, for which the description is updated very often)
Maybe the solution would be a mix of the two : check everything but the entries sent by "trusty" members (members for which the entries they send are always validated) But that's much more complex to put into place.
But true, there needs to be some cleaning done to these sections...
I think projects and contests should go through mods. In fact, I don't actually see the point in having a contests section on the sight. The forum version is easier to use and quicker to load. And most projects are:
'lets make balto 4!!!! ok, u can draw jenna, i'll draw balto and u can draw steele! oh, this will be fun!' Urrgh. I don't even visit the contest/projects sections on the main site anymore, for I fear that I will scream if I see another of these. Yes, there probably are too many mods already, but if there is a way that you can make them able to accept/reject projects and contests without the ability to ban, you don't have to be so particular about who you pick that's "Completely and utterly trustworthy," .
I think that they should be validated when first sent, but members should be able to edit them without having to have them re-validated. The chances are very slim that they'd edit their 'good' topic to add in content that's against the site rules.
