Yes, another contest xD But this one's different. I'm not looking for wolves. I'm looking for African Wild Dogs.

What does an African Wild Dog look like? Like this: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q ... ages&gbv=2

This is different because the pattern of these dogs' coat is very complex, and then again, its so simple. (I mean its really no different than everyone's miscellaneous and mismatching designs of characters anyway)

That and African Wild Dogs are very different from wolves in personality too.

Why African Wild Dogs? Because my character Dinah (http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/chars/Dinah/42.html) is stranded in Africa and her cheetah pals can no longer take care of her. Her only chance for survival is to join a pack of Wild Dogs. But will they accept her? No one knows.

But these dogs are gonna need an identity. And that's where you guys come in.

A little feedback on this pack first. There was a pack of these wild dogs (all related to each other) and the male was killed by a certain raging bull elephant known for inter-species murder. Since the pack was led by both the male and the female, the pack went their separate ways, males going one way, females going another. The male group was led by the youngest male, and the female group was led by the oldest and mother of them all. This is not uncommon for African Wild Dog packs, but the female pack is the one Dinah is intending on joining.

The leader/mother of the pack is my character Moor (African name: Badriyah).

About the winners:
Their characters will have a cameo in the next Dinah fic I write. I don't know when I'll get it done, but it'll happen.

Of course each winner will be given credit for their character in the fic.

It was a tough call, but I've finally picked Moor's daughters. It was a tie between quite a few of them, but I had to narrow it down to the ones that met /all/ of the requirements. Any of you who weren't chosen it was either because your character was a clone, the names weren't African, the names weren't nouns, didn't have the personality/appearance of an African Wild Dog, or wasn't even an African Wild Dog xD Congrats to those who did win.

Name meaning: Born at Dawn
Gender: Male
Age: 3
Personality: Happy go lucky, bad boy. He's got issues with getting in trouble with the mother of the pack. He's always running off chasing some kind of animal ((AKA Elephant...)) When he's not supposed to. He's a rule breaker, and a heart-breaker. He loves the ladies and shows it well.
How they feel about Dinah joining the pack, etc.: He thinks its the greatest invention since a watering hole!
How they feel about their mother: He loves his mother, but she drives him nutty
History: He was born at the bare break of dawn, Therefore his name, Aduor! His mother often calls him Addie, or Adored one. He was the most cautious when he was younger, from 7 weeks to 1 year... after a year and a half and a encounter with a cheetah that he raced - He's never been the same. Now he's wild and nobody has a set of reins on him..
Other: His eyes are - One gold, one Green. ***EDIT *** He likes Dinah. ((Who doesnt??!!!))

Name meaning: African Swahili name meaning "like the moon."
Age: 2-3
Gender: Female
Parents: Moor and Seeker
Siblings: Bahati , Quanna, Ramla Boladi, Bunmi, Kapeni.
Personality: One of the oldest daughters. (is that's okay.) She is very attentive and complex. She listens to orders and does them though, she has a attitude that sometimes makes her seem like a brat but she only is when she gets annoyed by something. She tends to rant to herself to make herself feel better when she is ticked off. She's quiet around her mother.
How they feel about Dinah joining the pack, etc.: She doesnt really know much about Dinah's type of dog. She doesnt know what to think of her but she thinks her red fur is pretty cool. Kamaria wont mind her unless she does something to hurt her sisters.
How they feel about their mother: Kamaria does what her mother tells her to do but she doesnt like the fact that her mother wont let her ever have children. Kamaria loves pups and wants to have some one day. She wonders what it would be like having pups of her own this is when she often gets provoked by her thoughts of her mother saying no about it.
History: Kamaria was around during her father's death but before that she became friends with a young male like herself. She like him more than a friend of course, But her pack had to seperate in genders after her father's death. She knew she would never see him again after that unless the two packs run into eachother which she finds is a low chance of happening. She doesnt know if she wants to see him again anyway because if she does she might want to stay with him and start a family. Which her mother, Doesnt want to happen. She often sees males around the pack but she tends to avoid them.
Other: Kamaria is one of the oldest of her sisters. Therefore, She looks after them like her own.

Well since she has alot of spots and her mother doesnt, We can say her father had most fo the spots and she got them from him.

Alright, here's mine:

Name: Savanna (African name: Abeni) Note: She prefers her African name to her "normal" one XD

Name meaning: "We asked for her and we got her" XD

Gender: Female

Age: 2-3 years old

Personality: Usually happy-go-lucky, sometimes she can be surprisingly serious. Unlike some dogs, Abeni does not go from jubilant to depressed in an instant; she tends to change her thoughts and feelings slowly. She has great pride in her family; she detests elephants (for obvious resons, even though she doesn't much remember the attack). She's not so happy about her mother's "no-mate" policy, but as she's still young she doesn't have too much of a problem with it; her mother worries about her becoming a rebel in the future. Abeni scoffs at this, for the moment. Obviously, she prefers her African name to her "other" name.

How they feel about Dinah joining the pack, etc.: Abeni is wary of Dinah; she does not immediately hate her, but Abeni was always wary of any newcomers. This was due to the fact that, being the youngest, the only dogs she's ever seen come and go in the pack have been her own brothers and sisters. Actually, because Dinah seems so vulnerable, Abeni discovers a soft spot for her that she's afraid to show. If Dinah were ever between a rock and a hard place, however, Abeni would spring to her defense. Abeni is almost timid around her the rest of the time, though, afraid to betray her feelings to her sisters, which would create a rift between her and the ones who dislike Dinah.

How they feel about their mother: Abeni adores her mother. She recognizes that she was desired by her mother, who brought her into the world, and tries to repay her every chance she gets. Even though Abeni does exasperate Moor at times, she also makes her proud. Abeni tries her hardest not to act like the baby in the family when her mother's around, but nonetheless she is treated as such, even by Moor.

History: Abeni was (as her African name implies) a desired pup; her parents (before the pack split up) longed for one last litter before they grew old. They were unable to have one for quite some time; finally they had a litter of pups that were all born dead - except one. Thinking it an appropriate name, they christened their final daughter "Abeni", casually called "Savanna". Being a somewhat coddled pup, Abeni initially grew up thinking that the world revolved around her. After her father died and the pack separated (she was only about six months old or so at this point), Abeni became a different dog, trying her best to cheer her mother up as often as possible. Recognizing the change in Abeni, Moor built on the change and turned her daughter into an active, considerate, loyal daughter. Abeni secretly wants a mate, but is afraid to say so for fear of dissappointing her mother.

Other: I don't really know what to say; I guess I should mention that Abeni fears lions, but it's not so much "fear" as "respect". She often dreamed of being a kion as a youngster, but now she likes what she is. Also, she's initially intrigued by Dinah because she's hardly ever seen the color red XD

Name: Imani

Name meaning: Faith

Gender: Female

Age: 3 years, 5 months

Personality: Imani is 'spunky' and unconventional, yet quite intelligent. She's very sweet but in the strangest ways. Also, she never thinks about the consequences of what she says, to her their just words and it's HOW she says it that matters more than WHAT she says. She has deep ties to those that she cares about and so was completely shattered when she lost her father, then all of her brothers. Especially because she doesn't really fit in with her sisters. She passes the time by exploring her territory and finding new, strange creatures like lizards and rats.

How they feel about Dinah joining the pack, etc.: Imani really wants Dinah/Lovely to join the pack. She knows that Dinah will never survived without a pack and well, she's bored of her sisters.

How they feel about their mother: Imani feels that her mother is quite over-protective, and is upset that their pack had to split up. Deep down, she knows that is was what had to be done, but Imani will never admit to that. Imani wants to leave the pack to find a mate, but is worried about how she will live without a pack and is scared that if she grows attached to him, he'll disappear like every other male in her life.

History: Imani was just born in a litter with two brothers. She always played and wrestled with them, even when they started to get much bigger than her. She never spent much time with her sisters, because they were all either older or younger than her, and because they didn't like to bite and wrestle and explore like she did. They played tag, but Imani thought that tag was a boring game.

When her father died, Imani mourned a lot. She loved her father, perhaps even more than she loved her mother, because her dad would take them for walks around the territory and let them bite his tail. Then her mother made the announcement that the pack would be divided into males and females, and Imani wanted to join the males pack with her brothers, but her mother firmly said 'NO'. Imani was upset with her mother for nearly a year afterwards, but she finally grew to accept living in an all-female pack.

Other: Imani isn't a really great hunter. She's not very fast, however she is good at tackling prey. And she has a good nose and ears, but bad eyesight. She hates hunting zebras, but they rarely do anyway because they are so large.
