I do think that there should be more laws/punishments against animal cruelty. Like you said, people can do really disturbing and horrible things to animals, and not be punished by it. I don't know how extreme we should go, but I definitely think that animal cruelty should not be overlooked as much as it is.
Just knowing that a crime is punishable by law would be enough to stop a lot of people, so even if making certain things law doesn't stop the entire world it would at least make a difference for the best.

I feel the law between human and animal should be the same in the UK and worldwide, once a man left his cows and horses dying in there own muck. They found one standing up, dead. he was banned from keeping animals for five years, and sent to prison for 6 months.
I would of banned him from Animals for life, and a good 15 year prison sentance.
If I see anyone being cruel to animals, I just become cruel to them.

Definitely, we should have tight(er) laws against this, worldwide. I don't think you'll really find much of anyone on BS who thinks otherwise. Humans' cruelty never ceases to amaze & disgust me :/ Ever heard of this one (no graphic images or anything, but a very disturbing article)? ; http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/200 ... -dog_N.htmAbsolutely sick. Anyway... IMO, I think anyone responsible for the murder of an animal should get a hefty jail sentence, at least; I mean, I heard of this case where a guy actually -deliberately- took his neighbor's cat and killed it - I can't remember if it was shot or beaten, possibly both. I believe he went to jail for it, but only for a few months... IMO, it should've been several -years-. Even if you happen to be someone who doesn't think too highly of animals, you can't deny that anyone who deliberately causes such harm (let alone death) isn't good for society as a whole. Most serial killers and such started off 'small', torturing animals, before moving on to people. These people should get some serious counseling in addition to fines/imprisonment/what have you...

Well, you know what has happened (quite) recently that made me so angry I almost chewed my lip off? We all know how Steve Irwin, the famous Astralian wildlife expert, zookeper, TV show presenter, conservationist and loving father, died- he was stung in the heart by a stingray in The Great Barrier Reef whilst filming the amazing creatures . Merely days after his death had been publicised, I remember hearing on the news that some stingrays had been found on the beaches of Queensland, obviously killed cruelly by men and with their tails cut off. Now, if Steve Irwin was alive, how do you think he would rect to this news? ...Steve loved animals. He would have hated the people who killed the stingrays. And the thing that makes me really angry is that I expected something like this was going to happen. I knew that there would be some kind of "vengeful act" upon the poor stingrays. Is that what Steve would have wanted??? NO!!!! Stupid, stupid people.....

In my opinion, they should put through just as bad punisments, not only to give them how it feels, but also as a warning to others. It's in this matter that we could really use Alkatraz back. Also,I seen some of this stuff in real life so if you want to know it,pleas PM me since I can't really bring myself to put it in a topic. Now, a few of you may or may not know what I want to be when i'm older. But for thoes who don't, I want to be a Labour/BNP MP, and try to get into the high ranks of the party I choose, and give HARDER punishments for people who kill non-humanitive animals, then thoes who kill humans.

Conay, are you saying you want to give HARDER punishment to people who hurt/kill animals thatn HUMANS? Because if that is so, then that is comepletely ridiculous.
And I for one, also, hate animal cruelty. In fact, I do not know, personally, anyone that likes it. And I'm betting no one on this entire site likes it. I think it is stupid and wrong. All most animals want is peace and to be loved (pets that is). So why should we hurt them?
