See the similarity? But that person has posted an unnecisary comment on my fan characters page. That person could have pmd me about this situation instead of spamming up the comment box. Wouldnt you agree? But like other people have said, you can't really own a name unless you make it up yourself. Like you can't own the name"Danny", cause there are lots of people/animals named that am I right?Sorry if I rant about this but I think that this should be noticed I agree with ya on this. I don't do fan arts myself(because I can't draw and I don't have any programs other than paint for drawing) but I do make fanfics and I find it harder and harder to make names because eventually some people's character's names(for drawings or whatever) are gonna be the same. I mean, there is a limit to names out there and people can think up a name without knowing that somebody else did because it's gonna happen eventually. I think in those cases neither person should change their character's name because it wouldn't make sense to and it wouldn't be fair to either person.

There are ways that you can get more less used names, but really, there is hardly any names left out there that someone doesn't all ready use. This. There's no way to "copyright" a name. That's just ridiculous. It's also very hard to believe anyone could create a brand new, 100% original name that's not similar to another one in one way or another.

All very true, any character name can be chosen, and have a different creator.

That is, unless you go around calling yourself: yamagatchazooboing*clickclicksnort*eepshamameydangdonglama*barkmooshriek* But that would be a little...strange...if you ask me O.o Tibb and UK are right. It's impossible to copyright a name (they'd laugh you right out of the copyright office, for one) and it's nearly impossible to create a name that is 100% original and yours (at least without it being extremely eccentric or superfluous in some way). On another note, if I see anyone prancing around and using the name I posted up there....I'm going to fall out of my chair and laugh my bum off, XD.

I'm going to be short and sweet.
This will always happen. This is a big world; the chances of having a character name that's 100% yours is slim to none. Of course, you can tell when it really is stolen. But then it's polite to just ask, rather than badger, that the new person change the character's name. If not, well, tough luck. This world isn't for one person, and similar names are going to happen.
In this sense, can one mother attempt to sue another because Mother #1 named her son "Marc," and Mother #2 named her son "Mark"? No. It's not worth the time. It's not funny when someone badgers about it, but you have to keep your head on straight.

I'm surprised that there isn't a way to delete messages like that.

If comments bother someone, they can always report it to a moderator (we can delete them). I'm not sure if added them to your "foe" list will effectively rid their text, though, on the main site (fan art galleries and such)? I personally don't have anyone on that list. So I couldn't say whether it's possible or not.
