Animation Source Forums

This is a great short film. It was done by West Virginians, so I'm proud of it because I'm from West Virginia. Anyway. Its based on a story by Frank R. Stockton and uses a a type of animation that is basically a flipbook, each frame hand drawn and then flipped so it looks like a moving picture. This took a long time to do obviously but the end result is very good. The plot is a Griffin, possibly the last of his kind, has never seen another Griffin and thus wonders what he himself looks like, he hears a stone Griffin is on a church in a town, so he flies to see it but the towns people are terrified of him, but the town's Minor Canon, a church position I assume, is sent to see what he wants, they become friends. The Griffin only eats twice a year, on the Enquinoxes, which the towns people are afraid he will eat them or their children, which obviously he has no plans to do. I won't spoil the whole plot, even though I'm not entirely sure how easy you'll be able to get it, though you'll probably be able to find it on Youtube or somewhere. Its a great film with the classic massage of you can't judge a book by its cover.

I heard about the story, but I never knew thay made a movie of it.

Yeah they did, its very intresting. Oh and intrestingly, Don Knots has an appearence in it.
