Recently whenever I've gone on the "other" part of the board I've seen topics that were locked. Wondering why, I looked at the posts and when I got near the end of the posts I noticed a trend appearing.

One post would be like, from a year(or even older) ago and the next would be from like a day or two ago. I'm quite frankly getting rather annoyed at all these old topics being brought back and it's usually the same two or three clue-less people doing it again and again. What's worst is that before it's locked the mod or someone else will tell them not to bring back an old/outdated topic but they don't seem to read that and they do it all over again.

I have two solutions that I think could work:

1.)Make any topic below the first page become automatically locked.

2.)If nobody posts within a certain time frame(say like three months or so) the topic would become locked.

I know implementing any of those would be hard for Steet and the mods but I think most of us can agree that there need to be ways to nip this problem in the bud.

No, that's a bad idea. While yes, people reviving old topics just to say "yes, i agree too" or "very good!" is extremely annoying and it is against the rules and members only do it to raise their post count (or on occasion, they just don't realise how old it is).

HOWEVER...

Sometimes, people DO have something interesting to add to the topic and will actually revive the topic into a good discussion. Just report uselessly "necro-ed" topics for a lock, that's all that needs to be done.

I think they know exactly how old it is. When a topic is like four or five pages down then I don't think it's anything recent.

On all the "necro-ed" topics I've seen(and there were lots) I didn't see any kind of useful response. And if a person really wants to say something on a particular topic then they should make a new one instead of bringing back the ancient one.

There should be a certain limit to how much a person could do this before they get a ban(like this)

one time offense: warning
second time: day or two in ban box
third: week in banned box
four: month in banned box
five: perma-ban

My internet/Computer is very diffrent, and it doesn't even show the dates on the forums, if the forum could just block the Topic when it comes a certain date, then people who's computer doesn't show the date will know that it is old.

That's odd. you should be able to see it. Is your computer old or something?
Anyway, I hate this too...Most of the time its a weird topic like, "Do you like my socks?" I don't know if the blocking is possible. It depends If steet can code something like this. I think just a rule and warnings from forum mods is the best way to go.

I'm not trying to be mean, but ya need to find a way to fix that problem because ya've necro-ed a few topics recently(very old topics too).

If it won't show the dates then just use more common sense. If a topic is below the first page then it's probably at least one of two things:

1.)Very old
2.)Abandoned

Doesn't show dates of posts. How will I know when it's dead? Did you even read my post?

How will I know if it's old if I can not see the date of when it was posted, and the last post?

Do you know were the date is? You should be able to see it. Its not your computer being able to view it. its the forum. Its on the far right of the post.
