Aleu left because it was her destiny to lead the wolf pack, plus no human back in Nome wanted her. So she had a very good reason to leave.
And we have no idea who Balto's father is. We know that he's a dog, since Balto's mother is a wolf, but we don't know his name/appearence etc.

Aleu left because no human wanted her, also the truth about her wolf heritage was kept from her, much to her dismay, and also a hunter took aim at her.
Balto's father was a purebred Husky who had pups with a wolf.

Actually, I think the real reason isn't that Aleu ran away to join her wild relatives, but she just wanted to be far away from her father . . . at least that's what I think. Think about it: She just learned about her father's mixed heritage, which cleared up the reasons why no human wanted to adopt her - Wouldn't you be P.O.ed about that too?
Also, just the basic fact that a father would hide something so important from his daughter (Jenna knew about it too - Why didn't she tell Aleu about it herself? Hmm, . . . makes ya think, don't it?) is just . . . I don't know. I guess Aleu felt betrayed by him for not saying anything sooner.
Then again, I'm surprised she didn't discover it herself - I mean, she's a different color than her siblings, she acts wilder and not like the others . . . the differences were as plain as the scruffiness on her fur . . . but that's just me.
Of course, her running-away was meant to happen - how else would every single event afterward and Balto's haunting visions fit (almost!) perfectly into place? Aleu had to be coaxed into the wilderness somehow, and if it was up to Balto, she probably would have never gone into the wild on her own (especially under his watch!).
But just because she looks more wolfish doesn't mean she was meant to belong in a wolf pack - look at Balto for goodness sake! Still, this story wanted Aleu to follow her wild roots, despite only being 25% wolf in her genetics, so I can't really do anything about that. *sigh*

- Juuchan17 Yeah, Aleu ran away because she was sick of her father's over-protectiveness and outraged at him for not telling her about his wolf heritage. It definitely wasn't to join her wild relatives (while that was the purpose of the movie, it was not Aleu's original wish). And proof of that is her saying: "You mean my grandmother was a wild animal?!" Or somthing like that. I haven't seen it for months, so... But Juuchan, you bring up a good point. Jenna could've told Aleu about her being part wolf, and yet she was only angry at Balto. But she was generally sick of his over-protective attitude (or babying) anyway, so maybe that was just when she had to draw the line. And yeah, it annoys me all that stuff about her being more wolf than her father. She's a 1/4 wolf, and her father is 1/2 wolf. Oh well.

The line is: "Great, my grandmother's a wild animal?!" *looked on my unofficial transcript for the line* You were close though! Aleu just wanted a place to belong, and apparently it was with the wild ancestors she once hated. Isn't that ironic? It would have made the film better if Jenna did something other than being a mother, I think. Could anyone imagine how hard it would be for the mother to admit Balto's heritage to the different daughter? How would Aleu react differently, or would she still run away? (Personally, if Jenna told Aleu she was 25% wolf, I think Balto would still have some serious explainin' to do! But I'd love to see someone write this. Really, I don't think anyone has tackled that.) It seemed that out of the two parents, Jenna would be the understanding one - she reminded Balto that their children had their own lives to live and that sooner or later, they would have to let go of them; Balto just didn't want to let them go (or maybe since they were his first litter, he wanted to treasure them forever?), especially Aleu for her obvious differences. Besides, we all remember that he had been through complete hell for being wolf-like and different with his mixed blood of wild and tame, and he thought it would be for the best if Aleu didn't know that truth. He was wrong, and we all know it. I agree - that is annoying. First of all, she only ACTS more wolf, not IS more wolf. Secondly, Balto has more wolf experience than Aleu - he was born out there, after all. Thirdly, I think Aleu appears more wild than Balto does, especially with the yellow eyes, big paws and her fur colors (I blame the animation in WQ for that - Balto himself looked horrid, nothing like the hero from the first!); her design seemed to be a reflection of the lupine wildness Balto left behind when he was more tame in the first film (with the dog-sledding dream and such). Fourthly, . . . er, there is none - I can't think of anything else. - Juuchan17

Jenna wanted to be more than just a mother, but both Boris, and Balto stood right in her way,so it's actually their fault, and doing. Boris:No Jenna, this is a journey for father, and daughter only.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think that in the movies they say that it's to "protect her". And considering Aleu's reaction, she wasn't actually ready to hear the truth. I think it would've been better if Balto and Jenna had gently explained it to their pups when they were at a young age. I mean, if they had ben told when they were seven weeks old or so, they would've grown accustomed to the fact and eventually it wouldn't bother them. But the fact of Balto keeping it from Aleu and then saying it when a hunter tries to shoot her... not the best move. I don't think Balto ever planned to tell Aleu the truth, but after the incident with the hunter he really had no choice. Juuchan17 wrote: I agree - that is annoying. Fourthly, . . . er, there is none - I can't think of anything else. I think the thing is, Balto was a wolf-dog that wanted to be a dog. Aleu was a wolf-dog that didn't know what she wanted. She displayed behaviours and the appearance of a wolf (as was her natural instinct) but she wanted a human and disliked wolves like the rest of the pups (which is what she had learned). Wouldn't it of been more interesting if one of the red-furred pups was acting wolf-like? It wouldn't have done much to the plot, but it would be less 'generic'. I mean, Dingo or Saba or the bridge-nosed pup or the red-faced pup, they're pretty un-interesting, it would've been nicer if they gave them more than one line (or no lines). And even if it wasn't about them, you don't think they could've at least included them in someone. It annoys me how Aleu's siblings don't (directly) influence anything Aleu does. But I guess, they didn't have many voice actors, and were on a low budget and whatnot...

I don't think Balto ever planned to tell Aleu the truth, but after the incident with the hunter he really had no choice. But to hide a secret like that for over a year? You'd think Balto would have had more sense. At least Boris did, right? (He was trying to tell Balto that keeping the reason why no human would adopt her a secret any longer would just lead to something bad, but Balto thinks he knows best. Typical overprotective dad, Balto turned out to become, yes?) Sure, I understand what you mean about Aleu being protected from knowing her wolf heritage, Togo, but still . . . "the truth will set you free" . . . and it clearly did over a matter of time for her once she realized why she was so special. But yeah, I'm thinking that prior to WoC, Balto probably told the other siblings about their heritage. It may have been a little too late for Aleu, but at least the others learned about the truth. - Juuchan17

First of all: It's ALEU!!! Not ALUO!!! And it's BALTO, not BAITO!!! (sorry if i was rude... ^^;)
Aleu leaved because was her destiny. Niju not wanted because they was too far and maybe he don't swim very well. Nava don't know how to swim and Balto can't do it because of Jenna. So, Aleu was the last one to choose and she became the pack leader.
Well, no one knows who's Balto's father, but on WQ was confirmed that his father was a husky.

Alue left because Balto kept a secret from her for a long time and she wants to be domestic and she thinks being a wolf means being hunted... Or someyhing.

Watch Balto 2: Wolf Quest and you'll understand why Aleu left. That simple. Watch the second movie.
