They both are awesome. With the animation side I'd have to say TLK has better animation, but story wise I think I'd go for Balto. I love them both though.

TLK had more vivid, colorful animation but Balto's still the best movie! Balto rules!

TLK has a really good animation, but I think the animation in Balto is better. Be careful, I'm talking about the animation itself, not the colors or anything. If you look carefully, the animation in Balto is much more detailed and fluid than in TLK, in which there are a few scenes that are not fluid at all. (it often happens when the characters are far from the camera) In Balto, the snow is really well managed, look at how it moves with the characters : stunning, the kind of things no one notice and yet, it's really precise, accurate, realisitic...I haven't seen anything like that in TLK. I also think that the characters themselves are more expressive (for example, Steele is much more expressive than Scar IMO)

Well, i think in Balto animation is more "alive" than in TLK. But still, i think both of them has a great animation! If you play TLK in "slow motion" u can noticed that most of the frames is spoiled.
For example:

Woah that one is odd. I found one where Balto has two tails.
