I imagine they just did it to give him some reason to prolong his "date" with Stella, therefore prolonging that aspect of the story. I personally think it was a silly way to do it as he DID fly in Balto one so it makes no sense. T__T

If he was afraid of heights, he could just fly low to the ground and not up so high. Just because he can fly doesn't mean it would have to be very high-up.

Also, in B1 he does fly, but he flies low. The main problem is: how did he travel from Russia to Nome? Maybe something shocking has happened to him after he arrived to US. This would make a good fanfic. In Balto 1 he was flying high. At the end when Balto comes into Nome with the medicine Boris flies down at him when he sits on his back and says "Not dog, not wolf, you're a hero!". The roof scene at the beginning of B1 doesn't make if he's afraid of heights either as he half-flies into the air when he says "Oy! It's cold!" and lands on Balto's back and he balances on the plank of wood over the gap between the fence and open window. OR I'm just nit-picking because I hated that element of WoC. P:

That makes it look like the makers of WoC didn't even know what happened in the first movie(because if they did then they would know a sequel would be a stupid idea). UK teh white wolfer wrote: OR I'm just nit-picking because I hated that element of WoC. P: I hated all of WoC. It disgraces the name "Balto".
