The much loved QE2 to be cut in two.

Thanks to the idiots at the Operators of Cunard and it's owner's Britan's icon ship, the Queen Elizabeth 2 is to be cut in half and a 100ft extention in the centre - And some people from Southampton (England) and Clyde (Scotland) (And I would be part of this) are requesting it to be renamed.

The "Disrespectful" plan leaked from the Middle East has sparjed angry calls in Britan for the ship's name to be changed.

Now, the first time I saw the ship, I fell in love with it, not for luxary, but it WAS a British Icon.

Here is what they plan to do:
Add an Extra deck - Bad.
Remove engines - Maybe thats just normal.
Remove all the staterooms - Why not just referbish(sp?)?
Remove the funnel - Rediculous!
Add 100ft to the ship - Worse then removing the funnel.

Also, I want non of this "Jeeze, it's only a ship! Stop worrying about it dbiugddghdiugh" Because maybe it might be just a ship to some people, but maybe i'm weird - But you can fall in love with ships, and the QE2 is one that many people has fallen in love with.

So anyway, whats your opinion?

To me its just a ship so I dont really care, but its fine if you dont like there planes to hack apart a perfectly good ship, I for one hate when people take great awesome looking stock muscle cars, (especially Plymouth Cuda's), and put newer fuel injected engines, fancy CD players, disc breaks, and those stupid 22 inch fag rims on them. So I understand why you would be upset with that.

Is this ship historically or nationally significant or something? Because if it is, I can see good reason why people would be upset about it being hacked in half and then 'improved.' Might as well refurbish HMS Belfast (WWII Battleship) and turn it into a floating hotel. :roll:

(I been on HMS Belfast! But it wouldn't really make a hotel, warships and hotel's don't mix.)

Anyway, the ship was built around the same time as Concord (In the 60's) and had served Cunard for 3 years, but in April 1982 she was a troop carryer in the Falklands War.

And to top it off, the ship was launched by the Queen (Queen Elizabeth II), and she said goodbye in April 2008 - Video's conclude:

I can understand how you can be upset over something like this. It honestly seems a waste of money, like the world needs another theme hotal. And if people like it the way it is, doing this would end up costing the company more than it makes them.

The thing is, we are in something called a "Global Economic Crisis", and yet - These people in Dubai are spending money like there's TO MUCH of it.

Just had to stopp on this

But Belfast is not a battelship its a Light Cruise (CL) of the "Town-class Cruisers".
But i think i understand why you call it a battleship, most people call any ship with gunns a "battleship" which is not correct

It was basicly a battleship, maybe a light cruiser but it would still go into battles.

Now, lets put away the creations from Harland & Wolff's ship HMS Belfast, and move back onto John & Brown Company's ship QE2.

Well, I don't really agree with the molestation of historical artifacts, or equipment, but I figure, if you've got the money, and someone's willing to part with stuff like that, have at it...

Well, another thing to be added on is the fact that these seem to be the ONLY people who actually have money.

Also, the QE2 is being sent to Palm junero(sp?) the largest man-made island, I feel within 10 years, the place will be covered in water again.

Lets look at the facts:

We're in a Global Economic Crisis - And the're spending money like they need to get rid of it.
Global warming is massively taking effect - And there building man-made islands!
Houses prices are falling rapidly - But there continuing to sell at very high prices, mainly in the Million.s

That's just it, they do have the money...Dubai, and that area is quite a large oil hub, so even while us (rest of the world) is going into a crisis, if we're buying oil, they're coming up still...at least a few selected bunch, which are the people who're doing this. And oddly, they're all related to big oil. Lol

But yeah, there isn't much we can do if the title is in their name, at that point, they can do whatever they want...
