I'm sure everyone knows about this controversy, so I'm not even going to explain it.
I never used to think that Disney copied Kimba, until I read this: http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm. Later, my friends gave good reasons for me to believe that The Lion King was not a remake of Kimba the White Lion. Now I'm just confused. :|
So what do you guys think? Is Simba a remake of Kimba?

Here's one way I think they are different.

1.Only one Parent appears to Simba after his death, and that's Mufasa.

2.Both Parents appear to Kimba, after their deaths.

I saw that site a while ago along with many others and I've come to the conclusion that however much I may love the lion king I believe it's a copy of Kimba.

I saw Kimba(the movies and some of the show) and I thought of something else odd. The lion king has as many movies as Kimba and even tried a show based off it(it was a spin-off but it was lion king related).

This is a rather touchy subject for some people. Fans of TLK are more likely to say it's not a copy and vice versa, and I think that in some cases people are just defending their fandom. Forget that for a minute. Really, what is so wrong about liking a rip-off? It's darn good, either way. Does it really matter? And to those people who "side with" TLK or Kimba without actually seeing the other one: How are you supposed to make a decision without seeing the evidence for yourself? Don't make decisions without backing up your claims. I have seen both TLK and its sequels AND the entire Kimba series, plus the movies.

Kimba is a TV show. There is much more time for much more plot than in a movie. To properly compare the two, I had to read deeper into each and compare the messages and the general feel of them. Not just plot elements. Also, Disney likes making adaptations, not remakes. Since when was Rapunzel's hair magic? Since Disney. Just because of this, it doesn't mean Disney's is original. Apply this to TLK and Kimba. If you think about it in terms of a typical Disney adaptation, it's pretty clear that Hamlet was not the only contributing factor. Kimba definitely had a part to play.

This does NOT mesn that Lion King is bad. Are any of Disney's other "copy" movies bad? Well, a few, but you get my point. The one and only problem I have is that no credit was given. That is plagiarism, since Kimba is not public domain. Lion King is one of my favorite movies and the fact that some things were taken from Kimba is not a turn off.

Remember, before you make a decision, make an educated decision. Your opinion is up to you, but it is always better to know what you're talking about. If you want, all of Kimba is on Youtube. All of it. Just avoid the 1989 series... it deviated so much from the original Kimba that it lost everything that made Kimba great. Of course, it's up to you to like it or not!

Ciao
