Anyone ever played a game that makes you actuelly care about the characters? I know it might sound wierd but you know any story can make you care about the characters, that makes it better for the reader because you care wether or not the characters make it out, but it takes a good writer to make it work and to my knowladge its rare in video games. I've only played one game that had this effect on me, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, I actuelly found myself apologizing to my partner sometimes when we fail without even meaning it! So any games have this kind of effect on you? Maybe not to that extreme but just caring about what happens to a certain character?

I'm glad you feel the same way, I haven't played Okami or Pokemon Ranger but I'm played Twilight Princess, Midna's character was what drew me most. Though so far Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 has had the most effect on me, they make your partner just impossible not to care what happens to them, like I said, I've actuelly found myself apologizing to her when I got her knocked out!

Most of the time my partner fainted because of me, she has an IQ skill that made her take blows for me if I was too low on health so most of the time she ended up sarficing herself for me, which was why I apologized, just several spots in that game made me really care about the characters, including 'me', the ending made me sad, that's for sure. I've heard of Okami, just not had the chance to play it. And yeah, Midna was a really drawing character, I first hated her because of how she threated Link but I grew to care about her as the story went on.

Probably because I'd switch places with her if she was hurt and try to keep her out of harms way, I think the AI was made to react a bit. It was sad, and it seemed unfair to the character, but it all works out in the end, really trying to avoid spoilers for those who haven't played it. Yeah, it was Midna's bossyness that made me dislike her at first but as things went on, she grew on me. Nintendo must of hired a extra talented writer recently.

Yeah but I care about them, due to the way they made it, and I don't like getting her hurt, so I'd switch places and take hits for her. Yeah, that's true about Midna growing on you. I think any game that you can care about a character is just so much better than a game with 'paper' characters.

It seemed pretty much like the thing you should do storywise, I mean you kinda stand up for your partner storywise.
Yeah, its a shame and makes games boring. When you can understand a character, the game is good, but if you actuelly care about a character, its a great game.
