Unless that raven can change shape and it's original form is a wolf I don't see how it would be possible because I'm fairly sure birds and dogs can't mate together.
Aniu was Balto's mother in spirit form. A "spirit guide" if you will. In Native Alaskan (and Native American) beliefs, spirit guides often take the form of animals. This is hinted over and over again in the movie (as well as other aspects of the Native Alaskan belief system). Raven is seen, by most of the Native Alaskan groups, as the "creator diety".
Balto 2: Wolf Quest posits that Aniu is a powerful spirit and guide for both her son (Balto) and her granddaughter (Aleu). And that she is either able to change shape into the raven (and possibly some other forms), or that she calls the other spirit guides to help Balto and Aleu in their individual (and collective) journeys of self-discovery (and about each other). The reaction of the wolverine spirits would seem to indicate that they were not manifestations of Aniu, but rather dark spirits called by her to test her son's reactions to his fears (and maybe Aleu's; though we did not see this on screen, it is hinted that she was on the same journey of self-discovery which Balto was. Even if Muru - the only other named spirit guide, was not apparently encountered by Balto).
Therefore it is likely that she is the raven. Or the raven is another guide called by her to assist in her plans.
I don't know what to say other than ya make an excellent point.
What I'm wondering is (I haven't seen WQ in a while so I might be wrong here) since none of the spirits appeared together then could all of them be Aniu?
