I think i've seen it mentioned somewhere that he must be a mix because Alaskan malamutes never have blue eyes, but at the same time... what makes him a malamute instead of a husky or something?

There's almost always differing opinions about Steele's breed. A lot think he's an Alaskan Malamute and others think he's an Alaskan Husky but to be honest - both are very possible.

Many say that it's his size that makes him whichever their argument is but often don't take into account that it's an animated movie and the animators/directors/etc. made him that size to make him look more intimidating so his bullying of Balto and the other dogs would actually work. (Think he could've done that if he were smaller than them?)

I really doubt Steele was a mix though. Remember Balto's line "Since when do you need a pedigree to help someone?", implying that Steele was a pedigree, therefore not a mix.

So that makes it true? And this is breaking news you had to share w/ the whole of BS by making its own topic and everything?

on the history channel : was it the real story of balto? because, to be honest, i can't see them doing anything on a movie.

Can someone just email the creator of Balto or the Balto staff?

Wait. You just said you were playing a dog game w/ your friend and they told you then that Steele was a mixed breed dog, then you edited your post to say he got it from the history channel. Sounds like an attempt at some kind of credibility, but... I thought Steele was one of those parts of the movie that was, you know, completely fictional... he never existed or took any part in the serum run, so why would the history channel have anything to say about him? s:|

And I still don't see what gave you such confidence in the claim that Steele is a mutt when it's made pretty obvious in the movie that he isn't... you (and/or your friend for that matter) ought to get your facts straight before fabricating unfounded theories & sharing it as if it were fact. *cough* Not to sound too pissy & humorless of course...
