This is my first EVER wolf drawing, and I am quite pleased with the outcome, if it looks a little rushed its because it was, and it was 10'o clock at night. I call him Blizzard because, well, he was meant to be in a blizzard, but the snow doesn't look like snow, my freind said it looked like he was surrounded by tic tacs. Anyway I really need people to give me some pionters and crits so I can improve it.

i must admit that i really like that draw, but have you tried to make cirkles and then drawing? it's much eaysier that way, my draw was not very good but okay and everytime there were something on the wolf i didn't know how to draw i used either triangle a box or a circkle to help me with that, so i think you should try it, it's hard in the start but then it gets easier and then in the last you wont use them anymore, cause for the most you learn to see these cirkles with your eyes :)

Ok thanks, I had basically no idea on how to draw wolves and the only reason I did it was because I watched one of those speeded up drawing things on paintshop, but I will use circles and stuff next time :)

I wouldn't really suggest drawing that way....You have no true idea of wolf/dog atanomy if you do that. Study a real dog or wolf (if you can, like at a zoo or something) or use wolf photographs. Circles and squares only go so far. I started studying atanomy about a year ago, and this is what my drawings look like now:

http://icewolf0426.deviantart.com/art/New-Fursona-Blitz-105170071
http://icewolf0426.deviantart.com/art/Wolfie-Sketch-106713130

See? And you know those 'Draw 50' books? They don't work. Now, if you're going to draw a 3/4 view of a wolf's face, then, yes, planning the face out with circles and lines is a good idea. Otherwise....it's not a very good strategy.

you're right i kinda forgot about the anatomy, i have too studyet the anatomy, i'm not done yet but i'm on my way, but i still thinks the cirkles is very good cause my wolves are good too (those i have been drawing lately) and it doesn't have to look like a wolf but it have to be lively, it's hard to explain in english but the drawing has to look like it's alive and not stiff. hmm well the cirkles did help me in the start if the head was too big for the body, or just to make a head fit to the body, and the body too, and you can also make anatomy with cirkles and those other things.

this is my draw were i have been using cirkles and anatomy(bone structure)

and this is how i can make a wolf (i'm used to making wolves now so i don't use them so muh anymore) and the wolf is not done i'm just showing how you can make it with the cirkle thing

and this is the face, for me it makes it easier to draw the head cause of the circles

(i just made them quick and don't read the text on it xD)

Thanks Mighty. I did this last night (couldn't sleep) at about 2 in the morning, but it took me ages, I did use people's advice and I think it turned out really well, even if the tail is weird.

And here is a random lion I did

I have a problem, I recently got photoshop and I wanted to make an avvie, but the file size keeps getting bigger when i've finished, is there another way to upload it as an avvie or can someone make the file size smaller. I know this is probably the wrong section for this.

Wow, the second wolf drawing definately shows improvement. ^^ Well done.
Your very first wolf drawing is actually, in fact, better than average for first time drawings. A double well done.

To help you a little at wolf anatomy, here's some tutorials that I even used to make it easier for you. ;D

http://yellow-eyes.deviantart.com/art/D ... I-96109568 - Here's the one that helped me best, and I actually got my anatomy kicked up a huge level on the first day. I highly reccomend this one.

http://yellow-eyes.deviantart.com/art/D ... s-57510034 - Here's another one with making it look more realistic.

And those were the two tutorials I used. They got me to making realistic wolves now. It's excellent help.
