Aleu-Dark brown ears, eye color blue, with a yellow background, quarter per cent wolf,at age of one,had to embark on a quest to find out who she is,she did so,with the aid of Muru, and a wise lupine shaman, named Nava, and had to bid her papa goodbye at the end of the movie, also Aleu howls a lot. Dusty-lighter ear color than Aleu's,bred to be one hundred percent sled dog, like Aleu she slid off of a cliff,or mountain, unlike Aleu,Dusty needed no wolf shaman,or spirit guide,to find out who she is,also like Aleu,Dusty howls, plus, she has two sled dog companions named Kirby, and Kodi, and one sled dog boyfriend named Ralph. Here are two pics to show the differences in their ears.

yes, these two girls are alike but obviusly different ;] only the design of their furs is alike because Aleu has a light brown fur and Dusty a purple one and of course, Aleu is part wolf and Dusty a pure sled dog husky, plus, as you already said, Dusty knows well who she is :]

Personally, I think it's unlikely they are the same character, because although their markings are similar, Dusty is a different colour and has a more stocky build. Their personalities are also different - Aleu is headstrong, free-spirited and perhaps slightly arrogant, while Dusty is more passive as a character.

As far as I'm concerned, Dusty is proof that Aleu's "spiritual journey of self-discovery" was unneeded BS, and that she could've blended in just fine w/ the dogs of Nome... BUT whatever the writers deem necessary for a good story, I guess. Also, should this really be in the WQ section? I know it has to do w/ Aleu as well but shouldn't it be up to date w/ the newest character mentioned, which was in WoC? I'm sure Dusty's character is common knowledge to most BS-goers, but if anyone's seen WQ and not WoC, wouldn't they be a bit confused at the content of this thread?

Well, since it's been bumped, here's two differences between Aleu, and Dusty. ^---Dusty preferred to sleep in sunny high places,or the boiler room platform. <---Aleu preferred low places, like a cool dark cave floor,Balto's boat, and a box, with the word FRAGILE,on it,also,Aleu's socks go a lot higher than Dusty's.

Well, I can see why someone would want to mention the similarities and differences of WQ's heroine, Aleu, and the sole female of WoC's mail team, Dusty. But I must point out that a lot of things mentioned here aren't really factual compared to what we officially know of the characters.
Aleu: I might as well start with her because this is in a WQ section
She's younger than Dusty, obviously - we don't know her actual age, but we can confirm that she's over a year old (Boris says this in the scene prior to the hunter incident).
Because of her youth, Aleu is more naive and clueless about the seriousness of the world around her at first; however, the events she witnesses through the course of her journey in the wilderness only mature her into more of the wolf that she seems to deny, despite naturally possessing the mannerisms and physical looks of one.
Personality wise, Aleu is stubborn, just as any younger child would be at that age. She wants to be seen as an independent, away from her father's constant watch, but by the end of the film, she is given the chance to do so, much to Balto's dismay.
Yes, she can be whiny, but it's in her nature. She wants things . . . and we all know that she's really confused about herself after she learns of her father's heritage. Who is she? What is her purpose in life? All of these questions do not get answered to her yet, but with a clan of wolves now in her command, who really knows what greatness she may achieve?
Obviously, we know much more about Aleu than Dusty because of the fact that she was the main character (other than Balto) of the sequel.
Dusty: the "Aleu-clone" of WoC
The obvious thing about Dusty is her shape and size. She's smaller compared to the rest of the team (which is all male), and she's rather plump and stout. Her age isn't mentioned, but she is probably about a matured age - my guess is about four or five . . . most likely older than Kodi, Balto's son.
Through what I've seen in the film, she knows a lot about her trade as a sled dog, and she is proud to do it (although not as much as Kodi is). However, she seems rather clumsy in the harness sometimes (remember that scene on the mountain?), but she manages to recover, much to the boys' relief. She knows the importance of teamwork, but her job is more of a priority than the life of someone that wishes to take it away.
Unfortunately, Dusty's dialogue is limited, as is her role as a small piece of a whole, but we do know that she values the company of her companions (the splash scene with Ralph, her chats with Kirby, the way she realized Kodi was right about searching for the pilot, them playing and running by the shoreline). I'm not sure what else is left to say about her now . . .
I hope this helps.
