So, I've seen on some topics that there are people that want history-related topics on the forums and would even want it to become it's own sub-forum. To that end I hope to use this topic as like a stepping-stone for them to encourage new history-related topics and ideas to be posted in the future. This topics is kind of a "catch-all" because ya can talk about any kind of history or history-related things ya want as long as they are in accordance with the rules below. For example ya can talk about reenactments, history books, history movies, t.v. shows, family that have ties to history, genealogy, your own personal historical experiences, visits to historical sites, (etc).
Now for the rules: In addition to the site's rules(
http://baltosource.timduru.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=832) here are some extra rules for this topic that I expect to be followed at all times.
1.) Be respectful of others opinions. Too often have I seen people get mad at others on here simply for being in disagreement with another person's views and I'm not gonna have that on this topic. Period.
2.) While ya can talk about pretty much anything history-related here, there are some things that probably shoudn't be brought up for obvious reasons such as people's sensitivity to certain things, so just please use common sense and think before posting.
3.) Political things, especially recent ones don't belong here; as well as anything relating to the war in Iraq, 911, and the like.
4.) Don't post stupid one-sentence posts unless they actually have some merit. Be insightful and intelligent whether ya are commenting on somebody else, or ya are making your own post.
5.) This is more of a warning than a rule. Because history can be a very heated thing to discuss, I would advise everyone not to start flame-wars; because if I see lots of flaming I'll ask the mods to lock this topic and that will be the end of that so keep that in mind.
6.) Last but not least, treat everyone with the same amount of respect that ya would want them to treat ya with.
Enjoy posting!!
